Tarja's solo career is by far my favorite. She is a timeless classic and like a fine wine seems to get better with age 💞

I love it when she sings "uneasy, you feel me, and if you want to follow every truth, tomorrow, your sorrow will be vanished and replaced with something new"

yeah, this song is great. The drawings were made by one individual artist, who Tarja contacted.
Tarja says that in this song she compined the two countries that she loves dearly, Finland and Argentina. There is a past in this song that is taken Sibelius's composition Finlandia.
Tarja chose the songs for her best of album. There is a version of it that has two CD's (and the Blue-ray of the Circus Life concert). On the first CD, Tarja chose the songs that she thinks are the fan favourites. On the second CD she chose her own favourite's and the ones that are more artistic songs. She said it herself that it wasn't easy.
    Thank you for this!!

An addictive song that doesn't fit into any mould - quite representative of Tarja's solo career. So much more to discover! The skating video is for Tears in rain from In the Raw

Thanks so much for your reaction to this video. I love Eye of The Storm how she combines different elements and it's never "just" rock. And the fact that she released it on the anniversary of her being fired from NW, I take it as a point where she started to become independent, but also kind of like her little quirk, and I love that about her. I'm really looking forward to every new album of hers, especially the rock one next year. I love how she always surprises us, how she evolves in her music and breaks the boundaries between genres.

This song mixes the bandoneon (musical instrument used in tango) and electric guitars. is a tribute to Astor Piazzolla to his song Adios Nonino (Argentine tango composer). Goodbye Nonino is a song that he wrote when his father died, it is well known in the world and with a lot of feeling. the video of him has 16 million views.

      It's really iconic
Even Don Airey from Deep Purple pay homage to it when they came earlier this year
Really appreciate Tarja for putting it on such an special song for her

Historical note: tango originated in Argentina, but by a quirk of fate became huge in exactly one other country: Finland. Since the arrival of tango on our shores a hundred years ago, it has evolved to being something of a national obsession, both as music and as dance. So Tarja is paying homage to both her birth country and her adopted one here.
If you want to check out what Finnish tango sounds like, there are several fan recordings of Tarja singing the classic 'Satumaa' -tango by Unto Mononen. I personally like this one:

As argentinian I was amused when I found this, so cool to have an artist like Tarja unite both countries as the tango music did once 😊

Hey, mates!! Lovely reaction to another great song of Tarja's! Loved it as usual! Thank you so much! I'm so thrilled and happy that you're part of her beloved Winter Storm with us all, love you guys! I appreciate and agree with everything you said, all your remarks, insights and thoughts on this song and her work in general!
I absolutely love this song, it's a perfect celebration of her career as you said, including her Winter Storm, it's so freaking awesome! I think it's a masterpiece in its own, there's so much to say. It represents so well her thoughts and feelings when looking back to her own life and career, she has such an interesting way of putting hints in the lyrics and the composition itself that reference important parts of her personal and professional journey 😍. Especially the chorus lines "Whatever destiny, the Eye of the Storm is me!", such a strong, powerful and beautiful selfaware acknowledgement she does here imo. And there are other aspects I find very interesting to notice too. First, the rhyme scheme in the lyrics she wrote I think creates a unique sound and it's so intimately related to the overall meaning of the song, and how she musically and lyrically depicts it: structure, melodic vocal lines, harmony sequences, instrumentation, etc! Secondly I love the way she merges together multiple different styles into a single one, it emphasizes the point she's making and adds so much to all those musical elements. With all this I get that feel, this sort of "gypsy meets tango" atmosphere, she evokes it in many ways perfectly merging those different styles and it sounds a conscious choice: the song seems to be almost entirely built on that 2-beat theme played in the beginning by a cello, if you pay attention this very theme is exactly the same as the "Habanera" one, the famous mezzo aria from the french composer Bizet's opera "Carmen" (just one example that evidences the classical music influence in Tarja's work), even the key is the same if I'm not mistaken (D minor); a Habanera is a dance (Spannish origin I think, not sure), hence the 2-beat rhythmic pattern we hear throughout the song (which is also a common pattern in Argentinan tango, worth noticing), and the character Carmen is in fact a gypsy! And of course the punctual interventions of the bandoneón, a musical instrument from the family of the concertina typically used in the Argentinan tango (this is of course an important part of her life, for she lived for many many years in Argentina with Marcelo her husband, who is in fact Argentinan as you know lol), she mentions Piazolla with it as well. Then Tarja takes all these elements and builds it up dramatically, transforming the song into something else, something unique, epic and wonderful! Not to mention that instrumental section where she mentions Finnland through "Finlandia", a composition by the illustrious Finninsh composer Jean Sibelius, but adding to it the heavy rock feel with the awesome guitar riffs interventions and the cinematic percussion that gives it even more of an epic soundtrack vibe to the song! So there's these brilliant, beautiful references to her homes (so to speak) through mentioning Sibelius (Finland) and Piazolla (Argentina), and also another reference to a "third home", not a literal one but more of her inner safe haven: classical music and opera! ❤ It all shows that in fact she can never be gone, for she's always travelling into the unkown, it's her strength and driving force pushing her forward constantly, that's what makes her unique, special and somewhat limitless! It's brilliant, what a journey she invites us to go with her! And of course her vocal delivery is superb, as usual! I love how she's so free and confident to experiment more with her voice now, and I especially love when she goes more "operatic" towards the end, so thrilling, gives me goosebumps! 😍
Such a strong songwriting style and skill she has imo, there's a driving inner force complex yet simple enough that provides so much meaning, she puts on so much depth into everything she writes/composes both lyrically and musically; the more you hear the more layers you unveil until you get to the core of what she's conveying through her music, then you see yourself right into the "Eye of the Storm" (which is herself, as the line of the chorus says), these moments always give me goosebumps and tears! lol
Tarja and her work are so dearly special to me. Aside from hers being the voice and music that helped me go through my teenage years and still nowadays helps me go through a lot, she's the artist who presented to me and got me hooked into symphonic metal many years ago, then her voice and her work in general also presented me with the magical universe of classical music and I fell in love with opera so deeply, metaphysically that I acually became an opera singer and a composer lol, all thanks to Tarja! She's such an inspiration! Plus there's a very deep, intimate experience, a personal history with me and Tarja's work and voice.
Anyway, thank you again for one more great reaction to Tarja! Keep up your good work, mates! ❤

Absolutely loved this track. One of her best choruses, and as always with her, a very unconventional composition with that tango/classical/metal extravaganza approach.
It was my most streamed song of 2023.

The sketches were made by Walter Cafiso (RIP) a graphic designer from Argentina, but also a big fan of symphonic metal bands. Those sketches are included in the Best Of booklet, the "fan-art" technique was used to depict Tarja through the eyes of the fans, so what you've mentioned about it is not so far from right! He secretly put a lot of effort on those sketches, I was there cheering him up through the whole process. Unfortunately he passed away before the release of the album.

The dogs running on the stairs iirc is from Die Alive .

Music was fine, but I'm not looking to listen the song again. No I don't like this style she sings in a few of her rock songs. Some of her rock songs she sings with very nice vocals. I love her Christmas songs' singing style! And her operatic style in arias, but it didn't fit into this song (like it didn't fit to the end of Nemo I just listened). Fits some or her rocks songs for sure, all Nightwish that she sang in that fashion (like WIshmaster, Deep Silent Complete for example) and some independent era (like Oasis for example). Short time back she sang "Sleeping Sun" in high classical head vocals and I just could not take it. It's classical vocals too when she sings it 1999 original fashion, but it is sweet and soft, deep vocals, and that is so beautiful. In 2005 version it is a more contemporary style, not as becautiful imho, but the all out high classical was not good.
