Always check boxes and containers before leaving your house. Cats often hide in boxes. They have even been found in moving boxes so if you are moving, always secure your cats in a carrier or a separate room and make sure the movers are aware.
I don't understand why the chip had to be scanned...didn't amazon know who had made the return? I mean, when you find a cat in a return box, wouldn't you then scan the return receipt to see who shipped that box?

It's not surviving Amazon that makes this a miracle, it's the fact it survived all those UPS handlers. I'm shocked no one heard it the entire trip. UPS box handling, especially during the holiday seasons, is not gentle at all. Those boxes can fall from a height of 15 feet when getting sorted.
This sounds a bit sus to me. I have had cats all my life and I don't believe a cat could be 'accidently' sealed up in a box with five shoe boxes without it crying and struggling to get out. Cats love boxes, yes, but cats DO NOT like being trapped or locked in. They don't even like closed doors. It would have moved around in the box as soon as it was picked up by someone...there would have been pee and faeces in the box at some point during its travels which would have leaked through the box and obviously smelled. It would have been noticed by at least one, if not EVERY handler of that box during its shipment. I have known people who pretend they love cats just to make their partner happy, when in fact, they hated cats. I am very suspicious of how this happened...just saying...

A similar thing happened when my cat got trapped no food or water for 3 weeks. Poor thing was beyond emaciated and dehydrated. I rushed him to the vet and he had no kidney damage and I nursed him back to health and he lived out the remainder of his 9 lives perfectly healthy. Unbelievable.
