- In this episode of Tech Talk, Sportsman Technical Sales Rep, Jim, is comparing fuel economy and performance numbers with the Seakeeper Ride system on and off. This has been a common question since the launch of this product and Jim is here to show us real world numbers. He's using these comparisons to answer all of the questions and concerns that the Ride system will cause too much drag and decrease performance.

I've just ordered a Makaira Gen 3 750. I am having these installed on it. Can't wait to try them out. The boat will be ready either September or October this year. I believe it will be the first Makaira to have the system.
Great video with relevant content. It looks like the system is a win-win. You guys hands down have the best media content of any manufacturer.
Appreciate that! Thanks!
During cruise you had the motor trimmed all the way down. I would like to see the comparison at the motor trimmed at cruise and see if it’s a comparable eco. I do believe these are going to be a item that changes boating for the future.
Y’all ever installed on a catamaran, I have a 25’ dargel kat, Final stages of the build Darrel said it should be ready the end of September
Rick, we do not build any catamarans and to our knowledge Seakeeper has never installed this on a cat either. You'd be best to reach out to them with questions regarding this issue. Congrats on the new boat as well! Best of luck.
When you are using the seat keeper ride, do you still trim your engine?
Yes of course, you'll run your boat just the same as you have before. Seakeeper Ride is geared toward helping stabilize your boat underway.
Very impressive! Can they be bottom painted or is it not recommended?
It can be bottom painted.
Yes, you need rougher conditions to do this test, that’s what it was made for. And can you use it to stable the boat at anchor or drift? Do over….
This system is designed to help stable the boat underway in rough chop. This test was in 1 foot chop about every two seconds with roughly 12mph winds. It can handle rougher water for sure and we’ve seen the same comparisons if not better performace from the Ride system while in rougher conditions.
Is it mounted with adhesive or is it bolted onto the boat?
Bolted
Does this need to be installed professionally? If so is there anywhere in Michigan that it can be installed? Going on a 2023 Yamaha 275 sdx
It is recommended to have a certified dealer handle this. You can reach out to Seakeeper Ride to find a dealer in your area.
I know as of now they can't be added... But does seakeeper have a plan for it? Or did the hull change to accept these
Most hulls will need modifications to accept Ride.
im wondering, which one more effective between seakeeper ride VS something like Mercury Active Trim
Mercury active trim isn’t nearly as fast to react
Exelente
Thank you!
I from Cuba, i would like to work in sportsman
Which model was this tested on?
Open 232.
When will the Seakeeper Ride be available on your boats?
It's available now.
@@SportsmanBoatsOffical Is it available on the 282 or 302?
I didn’t see any fuel economy improvements
You should see slightly better if you’re coming on and off plane often, tournament style fishing, as it helps get up on plane faster. Additionally, in rougher water it’s going to help the boat run better and stay on top of the water which will help fuel as well. In flat water and great running conditions you may not see as much of a difference.
It doesn’t seem like the test is that objective, or relevant.
How about going to a wavy conditions, where the system will actually work and be active, for a significant amount of time?!
And not these, almost calm waters..
