- Before I was offered my new Urus I actually bought this Porsche Taycan Turbo S from AMT. Knowing how fast they are I took the plunge and bought my first ever electric car. Yes, that's 2 new cars in 1 week!
Mark at Porsche gives me a full rundown on the spec for the handover as I had a lot to learn about electric cars. He even offers me a fake exhaust. :)
Hopefully I manage to hang on to her long enough to race Mat on Carwow!

I'm not an engineer and I don't have a lot of knowledge about this but I think, AC stands for alternate curent and DC direct?

@@florinnitisoara8313 Yes so AC, easy explained is a change of polarity. In (Germany at least) its a perfect sine wave at 50hz. The thing about AC is that the voltage is a lot higher but u have less load on the cables. At DC the Load is high but the voltage stays the same. So u need much larger cable and dc has a constant magnetic field
I mean, I guess they're not paid to explain the technology, just how it relates to the average consumer. But yes, it hurt me a little too. 😂

@@m1l3s27 Currently Audi IS making one Mat did do a review on the protorype model and as standard it has 600 horsepower but overboost can take you to 650 just for few seconds
Its gorgeous. One of like probabily 3 cars on the planet that actually look like the prototype. And the color combo is amazing, this blue suits it perfectly.

Re cruising on the motorway, I think with electric cars, you'll actually find it will draw MORE energy cruising at 70 all day than it does in city stop/start traffic, unlike ice cars. Don't think the sales guy got that one quite right. Nice car Yianni, I'd love to see it in the Mission E white, with the white (or silver I guess) wall wheels. Can't wait to see what you do with it. You'd be surprised. The thing is, stopping and starting will produce very little electricity from braking. Also accelerating will use up juice. On the contrary, cruising, i.e. feathering the throttle at 70mph, the battery will be giving power but self-charging at the same time.
@@MaheenF1Lover Cruise control ;) Like, my Toyota Auris Hybrid (140HP, 2014) at 60mph averages around 1 on 28km. That's ~65mpg. But if I were to give gas manually, the usage goes up! On cruise-control, the engine is mostly off too or it's idling at the lowest RPM possible (~650-800RPM) and then it goes off again. Only with uphill does the engine get used more, but I'm from The Netherlands. We only have little hills at most!

I saw a Porsche Taycan in person about two weeks ago, it looked bloody gorgeous and sounded so quiet!

@David Farley not wrong there, plenty of high power stuff on DC too. Ultimately the only answer is "we can only fit a AC to DC inverter to charge the batteries up to a certain size, so for the big throughputs we need direct access to the battery and put the inverter in a big cabinet"

I like the Porsche. Especially the design but I still wouldn’t buy because the Tesla model s is quicker and slightly cheaper, but what matters the most is the range, and teh Tesla destroys it, this Porsche can only do 216miles and that’s the long range while the model 3 which is £40k can do 260+miles and Tesla has the best Charing system in the world
I'd take a model s looks a bit better outside better interior layout (dont like that luch screens) better tech and charging.
Idk why they bother calling it a turbo when it doesn’t have one.
