- This are the subtle lessons that Death (the wolf) taught puss in boots. Lessons that Puss in boots learned.
#pusssinbootsthelastwish #dreamworks #cinema
Puss in boots the last wish, puss in boots vs death, big jack horner, kitty soft paws, big bad wolf
I wouldn't say its "forget your past failures" but instead "Learn from your past failures." He saw his previous lives and realized the mistakes they made and learned not to repeat them. Still, good analysis. This was an unexpectedly great film!
If you forget your failures, you're doomed to repeat them.
That's Right pal
Thank you, I appreciate
Too true
Dreamworks really made this movie so deep and lots meaning behind
People should know the meaning inside this movie whorever who watch it
He also taught him to always “Pick it up” and fight for his life even if his troubles are so big and seem impossible to defeat because your life is worth fighting for.
That's trueee aaaaa
The "pick it up" line holds so much meaning when you put it that way. Puss threw it back at him too, and while he might've meant it more mockingly, Death saw it as a sign that Puss was truly willing to fight for his own life then and there 💙
If something is literally impossible to overcome, fighting is pointless. If your life is worth it to yourself or not.
@@kiyoshi3313 you still can try atleast, even in the movie this happened puss knew he wasn't going to win but he still tried and won.
@OMKAR KAGNE There's obviously some rules Death is bound to. Overcoming fear was all Puss had to do as that's what Death was gaining from him. Not an impossible thing to overcome.
@@kiyoshi3313the idea is kinda just to go out fighting
Honestly, death isn’t a villain, he was just there to help puss
Agreed
By killing him if he messes up once
No he really wasn’t there to help. He straight up says he wants to kill Puss because he was insulted and is cheating to claim his soul early. He only relents when Puss takes the fun out of it for him. He still had no problem hunting Puss down to kill him out of spite.
Nah he wanted puss dead. He could've killed him in the beginning, but decided to "play with his food"
I wonder where this idea came from, that Death just meant to teach Puss. In reality, that just ended up being a bonus during their encounters. Hell, Death expressed vocal annoyance once he realized Puss had matured.
Actually, it was Kitty and Perrito who helped Puss learned his lesson. Without them, Puss would continue to run away and not be able to face his fear against Death.
The point is that without death tho, he’d never met up w/ the 2 of them. He wouldn’t have gone to Mama Luna’s. And without Death, he never would’ve changed so that Kitty could trust him again.
Death sets the momentum,he is the all cause
Death is literally the prime connection to that though. If he'd never shown up and made Puss realize how important life was, Puss would have never let himself start to appreciate it and the people he already has in it.
Death was like The Mastermind behind all these
it was all the three people, Death started it all
Don't forget the part where the gatito blade saved Puss' life in the final duel. A blade he would not have if he hadn't humbled himself and asked Softpaws for help.
A lesson indeed
Peak writing
@@Diego-dx8vm Indeed
@@Diego-dx8vm he would usually be on the offensive side, but in the final fight you see him switching to the defensive side
For an antagonistic Spirit of death he's quite the mentor
"Death is the greatest teacher" - Buddha
I really liked the "cut of realization". In the song earlier Puss said that he's "never been touched by a blade". But here, Death intentionally only slices his skin to show him he's not invincible
It worked. I like the acknowledgement of the word "Cut of Realization"
Plus, it makes him sound even more badass. From never being cut, to the only blade ever coming close to killing you being death himself? That's an upgrade yet he doesn't even boast about it
@@hirokimura1316 Haha, never thought of it
Death is always there when Puss is either being really arrogant or needs to be taught a lesson. He could easily show up when he’s exhausted and laying behind a tree or when he’s either trying to help people or stop the side-villain, but he doesn’t.
He’s not immoral or evil, he just has a job to do.
And well did he get it done!
I know I'm gonna get a lot of grief for this but I'm gonna go on limb and say Death was the real hero of the movie. He saved Puss from arrogantly squandering his last life.
Also gotta give the cricket and phoenix some credit too. They did burn that piece of the map which led to Jack's death.
Pure agreement here!💯
Yeah
They all contributed to Jack Horners demise in the end
But what did Jack ever do to deserve that?
Like specifically?
@@glendarjj3991 being a d***hole for the lols.
Puss: i dont know
Everyone: fights for the wish
Death: making the movie horror
I got one more for you: Fear does not make you weak, and being fearless does not make you strong. It is by face what makes you afraid that makes you stronger.
A Subtle lesson,The courage to overcome fear. Useful!
If you know Spanish it hits harder
- "You know we will meet again, right?"
- "Sii, hasta la muerte"
(Translation)
- "Yes, until death"
Nice One!
“Value the life you have”
*me at 1am binging UA-cam*
Hahaha, nice one pal
I don't know if this is relevant to this video but one thing I haven't see others point out is Puss tells the Governor he has never been touched by a blade, and when Death cuts him slightly he immediately runs away. Definitely shows how humbling that fight/wound was for Puss
Yeap it's relevant.. The Cut of Realization subtly conveys it
In an ironic way, Death helped Puss in Boots in his own way, by making him realize he wasted his 8 lives, when others only get 1. He had more than a chance to take Puss's last life, but he didn't. It's a good thing DreamWorks didn't make Puss "kill" death, because death is a force that comes for all living things, no matter what we do, even Death says no one outruns him.
Scientists can try whatever they want to beat death himself, but no matter what, death will come for us all. The best thing we can do, is value the life we have.
That is unless we add an immortal being into the picture.
@@Savitar_G.O.S nobody is immortal. Even those jellyfish who have the ability to de-age, are killed by humans.
These are all facts💯
As a man that beliefs in science i fully agre. But basickly the whole point of medicine is,, If you never stop running death will never catch you'' waiting for medical singularity where medicine will be developing faster than we age. Sure eventually we will all die. But it won' t stop us from doging him any way we can HA!
Yeah, but no matter how strong, everyone has a weakness.
The force-of-nature antagonist (who will later reveal to be an Anti-Villain) decides to descend for a personal visit to hand the Protagonist the Humble Pie (Break the Haughty), resulting in him becoming an Accidental Hero,
Death Wolf is one of the most remarkable and well-written characters in animation history, 💖 *DreamWorks* 💖
Dreamworks have really set their bars up on this
Gilgamesh or Heracles would choke the Goddo.
the only reason Death showed up is because Puss recklessly wasted his other 8 lives, and not valuing them, and that is what summoned him, to teach him a lesson, but when he said they they'll meet again, I believe he means that one day, he'll come to collect his soul, cause that's basically his job, to fairy the souls onto the next life.
@@TheRealA-Train that's true, a warrior does deserve their one last fight.
@@TheRealA-Train not really. He is literally death lol. Death was just playing with him since the beginning. He could kill Puss with just a flick of his hand from anywhere in the world. Puss didn't defeat death at the end. Death acknowledged that Puss have learnt his lesson and he is going to come back when it's actually time for him to die. And Puss is not going to do anything because he can't do anything.
Death definitely feels more like a "be the bad guy in order to do a good deed" kinda guy, he's secretly a really generous guy and he doesn't even credit for it. It's so sad
I don't think you will be saying the same when you hear "death is coming for yah" haha.. My point is death was doing his job.
@gdarev I just wanna say that it would be a lot scarier if he came up to me and left after saying something like "October 22nd, 2028" and then left
@@pmp7922 Hahaha, that's for sure
And the best part is, he was never played for jokes throughout the whole movie. He was serious and menacing throughout in order to teach kids that death is NO JOKE.
Yes. I love that part. When puss green life try to start a joke. He straight up shatter him without breaking eye contact.
One thing i think you forgot was that puss also learned to face death not with anxiety but with bravery as he learned in his last life that living in fear as he hadn't previously done was also not a great way to spend your life.
Yeah, that's where you come in, Thanks for it mate💯
@@gdarev Don't mention it and thanks for replying. This is a good video on a great movie and summarizes it pretty well.
POV: Death is the cataylst , when the doctor asks him if there's someone who could help puss at his time of need he found no one that close to him, but then comes death and always reminds him of appreciating what he has and to make meaningful connections with others rather than just an ego boost, the gatito blade part in their final fight shows how important it is to have help from someone when in need, also, he says that he "was there to take an arrogant little legend who thought he was immortal" and the fact that once he learned his lesson death went back to wait till he finishes living his life with authenticity actually makes death a friend of him😃
That's well said my friend!!
From Puss in boots to the new god of war ragnorak. They are proving the practice of stoicism has more value in its teaching than gold can ever glitter.
"*Size doesn't matter" ah yes, the greatest lesson of all 😂
Clearly said😂💯
Damn so you saying i still got a shot?
@@Golemeist Keep going pal, You got it!
@@noone-mv4wk That gaze on your profile speaks volumes
It already been done with Toothless
I know that was probably what Puss learned from this, but I like to think Death wasn't trying to do that at all. I think he was just there to collect Puss but realized that Puss wouldn't die... at least, not yet. Puss changed his ways and Death realized that, though I don't think he intentionally wanted him to learn a lesson. We all saw how pissed he was when he realized he couldn't take Puss anymore.
*You are ruining it for me* death
@@gdarev
Exactly. If he DID intend on teaching Boots a lesson, then him getting pissed off when it DOES happen ends up being a huge plothole.
@@SonicPlayer2004 That's part of death being a villain
@@gdarev
What is?
I like the idea of the dog ending up as Shreks therapy dog. Plus with the extra kids, I bet that’d be a SPECTACULAR home for him
What if the dog becomes the villain? 🗿
“Hasta la muerte” is such a badass line
Really tight line
What does it mean? Until we meet again ?
@@chemistrytube6300 it means “until death”, and it’s like a play on the saying hasta la vista, which means see you around
@@chemistrytube6300 He knows that later he will die
I feel like puss is taught to overcome fear when he decides to stop running and fight the wolf
That's a lesson
Even when I was little I knew when I was watching a good movie & as an adult this movie was made beautifully. This movie had the perfect amount of nostalgia
I really need to learn what nostalgia is
If you kinda notice, at the bar when Puss goes for his Spanish Splinter move, he goes in sword first and gets dragged across a table, but then he does it again in the final battle but he went foot first and kicked death in the head which means he learned from his mistakes from his first battle
Looks like Death here took a "Stealth Mentor" route to teach puss to appreciate his life.
Yeap!
Puss in boots has never been cut. Ever. That’s one of the biggest reasons he freaks out, he’s never been vested in a duel
the scene with perrito letting puss know there are those that are there for him in his moment of despair was so realistic its underrated
Death (Wolf dude) is such a Understandable guy, best teacher.
Can't deny💯
Fun Fact: I'm not sure how many people have noticed, but Puss has a scar over his right eye on his head after Death cuts him throughout the rest of the movie. It's hard to see, but it's there, and I love tiny details like that.
I didn't noticed it for the rest of the movie. That's great work
People say that death is the best villain but hes not actually a villain, he's just doing his job
Terror Crystal/Arturo De La Muerte is a terrifying enemy and an excellent teacher
I think Death smashing Puss’s reflections is representing Death humbling him
I love how some lyrics of Fearless Hero gets countered by what Death does to Puss during the bar scene.
I loved this film so much, that I can say it's the best animated film that I've ever seen in my entire life. Thankyou DreamWorks for this masterpiece, into the Shrek franchise. This movie sets up the scene very well for a possible Shrek 5 in the near future!
I Can't say less 💯
I like to think of this guy having fun with the "fly choking fake out" when fiona's dad died
I like to think he taught him how to not fear death himself and accept it is coming to us one day.
True heroism isn't measured by sizes of outer strengths, but rather by inner strengths of heroic hearts.
He's just a hyper-aggressive therapist.
Hahaha
Additional lesson
Facing your fears - Puss accepts deaths challenge to combat.
Nice pal
Daaaamn, this "You know we'll meet again, RIGHT?" is sooooo clean wtf bro
That line is sooo badass
Best thing is that Death is not only the Shadow of Puss but his mentor AND his herald.
You nailed all his aspects...
@@gdarev I'm a writer, I have the knack. :)
@@peterrealar2.067 For Real Fam :) 💯
I like to think that he is more like the inescapable villian type rather than a "mentor" or a "herald"
He's only here because the actions of the MC (wasting without care the 8 first lives)
and the protagonist needs to adapt in order to "defeat him"
@@alejotassile6441 Sure, but you can't deny that he showed those Archetypes
Beautiful super models may be a treasure, but gracious role models are priceless.
The moral of puss in boots is to not fear death but rather enjoy your current life and to not waste your lives
Yeah. Side note, we have only one life
The last "we all will die" just killed me🤣😂😅 but it true
Yeap!!
Rule number 1 "never not be afraid!"
"3 Accepting help from others"
UA-cam captions: "Thank you, BURRITO"
It's a perfect combination don't you see xd
The coins in the eyes part was just super cold of him.
We all liked that move, straight up
Death's whole point in the movie was teaching Puss the value of life and to live life to the fullest and I think that is a really beautiful and important lesson that we all need to learn. This movie was incredible
This guy is the biggest definition of English teacher but with actually good details that have a meaning.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
So cowardice is naughty, bravado is naughtier, and discouragement is naughtiest.
The coin eyes was frightening.
It was such a badass move
Death is such a badass
Throughout
So boldness is nice, bravery is nicer, and encouragement is nicest.
This movie had no business going this hard but I'm glad it blew my expectations away.
All of us
Film is quite the masterpiece..good for us to analyze
For real lotie
"switching to your secondary is faster than reloading"
It’s interesting that you think is simply just trying to kill puss, but in reality the fact is, all he was doing was teaching puss that he wasn’t the big bad ass he always thought he was, and that he shouldn’t be talking his life for granted, and in the end, death truly won because puss learned everything he was taught.
Absolutely!
The only lesson I learnt from death is that whistling can be traumatizing to people.
I find the whistling badass. Almost as if telling you ‘shit’s about to get real with death on screen now’
Ifs when you realise your going to die one day Is when your second life begins. Even though he didn't get his cat lives back, he completely transformed himself for another more meaningful one
Point well said Error👌
He's a definition of a killer teacher
That's accurate
Puss: "Puss in Boots is never afraid. Hah! Hah!"
Also Puss: Haves an extreme panic attack halfway through the film.
Fear. We may all hate it, but it is a *very* important tool for our survival. It's what keeps us alive and Puss had died one too many times for being fearless.
Thats an unexpected insight 💯
[* “Never been touched by a blade”]
I don’t think Death was ever there to kill Puss because he probably could have so easily. I think he was there to teach him a valuable lesson in appreciating life and what you have. Making him scared was definitely a plus tho
And indeed he accomplished it
Oh nah the way he charged after saying "Go ahead, run for it. Makes it more fun for me."
I am formally making a callout post at 4 AM because I'm procrastinating on a paper.
Death was not "just doing his job". He was actively breaking the rules and psychologically tormenting his victim because he was bitter, and was enjoying every second of it. That's evil. That is *extremely* evil.
Like you said, just doing his job
i just watched the movie.
Death is *not* a villain
Death is Death.
Nothing could be more neutral.
Death will come, do not spend forever fearing it.
Such a clear explanation!.
The last lesson death taught puss in other words it is “death comes for us all”
I think that Death can actually see the future and slightly alter fate to teach lessons to the ones he pursues, however he chooses not to when it comes to harvesting lives, and the angry complaint in Spanish after the final fight was just an act, so nobody would suspect him.
Woah, that's a new theory
This is meaningful. If you have one life, don't waste it.
We all have one mate🤜
@@gdarev yip

Another Lesson: "You can never escape death, you can only delay its arrival for a while."

God I need to see this movie.
Well we can assume that Perrito and Lobo both therapeutic dogs, like good and bad cops
Learn from your past, live in your present, and plan for your future.

The only guy that noticed :)
Death wasn't kidding when he said puss in boots didn't value any of his lives his deaths are so stupidly avoidable
Yep!
0:46 if you forget your past failures then you dont really learn from them and therefore doomed to repeat them over and over again
I love these subtitles
Top notch they say
“Forget your past failures.”
Are you kidding? That’s the WORST thing you can do! Have you not heard the old saying “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.”?
Also, you appear to have missed or mis-numbered 2.
Yeah, as for "forget your past failures" it should be "learn from your past failures". #2. You can't outrun death
Guess this means death now became some what a teacher i guess but for cats
"You know, I'm not a cat person. I find the very idea of nine lives absurd, and you didn't value any of them. So, why don't I do us both a favor, and take this last life."
- Death to Puss
Fun fact, Puss did die, his legend immortal arrogant him died!
I like the echo emphasis they put on "absurd." Small detail that makes it stand out. Also a wolf "not being a cat person."
another lesson: never touch fire
Puss in boots gives a 10/0 against Velma, who loudly says what she is learning instead of showing it.
Puss in Boots also respects sensitive topics like trauma and panic, while Velma uses it as an excuse to put lesbians on the show.
We all hate velma💯
Makes Sense
I dont know why I kept thinking Keegan Michael Key was the voice of Death ☠
Puss sort of like, has always in a way, responded to himself and his life like a child would, but its more like, he has yet to wisen and mature. Even in concept of immortality, he wouldn't be doing that well if he treated his life like he had his 9 lives. Its, sort of bordering on a sin in a way, to see it differently? It would be an insult to life, eternal or not. His power shouldn't carry him away. In a way this could be seen as his initiation into a true legend and immortality in that sense. Death can mean many things, you know.
This isn't really so much a large capitalistic man you gotta kill, so much as, this is a problem, and we gotta face it, there is no villain, only struggle and hardship. And he works it out in the best way he has, like, the entire series. A duel.
