OG '84 Turtles fan here! I *LOVED* the new origin lore with the boys and Splinter. Yes, he's their teacher but he's also their father and is there for his sons. Teaching them martial arts by movies took me back to my youth because the lot of it was learning from Bruce Lee & Shaw Brothers films, until I took classes later.
Mutant Mayhem rocked for all ages. Old fans to new fans.
Thank you!!! As a new fan its really nice to see og fans appreciating some of the newer stuff!
I find it cute how Splinter becomes more and more of a dad after each reboot.
He definitely plays the single adoptive father role well here...
Exactly that's not just their sensei that's their dad
Now your making me nervous. If they reboot Splinter having nothing to do with the turtles I would scream.
Eso es estúpido, ¿Por qué harían eso? Ese no sería Splinter @@jvoz671
They would never do that@@jvoz671
I'm sorry but I just need to say this: I cannot get enough of this art style. It's purposely imperfect. It adds so much charm and heart to the whole thing.
Yeah it’s like a sketchbook or concept art come to life
Like Spider Man Miles Morales, you can pause at any point in the whole movie and it looks straight out of a comics. And like Spider Man, they used variable frame rates for the action scenes, like some characters move at 12 FPS mixed with others moving at 30 FPS in the same scene
@@James-wd9ib miles morales looks like an animated comic while this looks heavily stylized in a different way, just can't put my finger on it though. Either way both are extremely visually appealing.
This art sttle been use many time and I think it a blend of claymation and rough 3D sketch
Really? I’m sick of it already. In fact, one reason why the art for that first Spider-Man movie was because the art was innovative, bold and new. It seems like Hollywood has again learned the completely wrong lesson. We don’t want “more of this”, we want “more innovative, bold and new” art and storytelling.
2:28 Baby Leo saying "I wanna go up there" in his baby voice gets me 🥺
It’s made me cry so hard 😭😭 I love this baby turtles so much 😭😭😭😭
@@JerichoFrancisco2025same they’re so cute 🥺❤️

@@Electrostatic_Fusionleo had the average baby turtle build. raph’s the biggest, donnie has the glasses, and mikey was the smallest that had the horizontally longer head size.
I love how post mutation Splinter just looks in shock at what he has become the babies are all just: “We got legs! We can spring! We got arms! We can swing!”
Made sense; they were new to this whole "life" thing and filled with wonder. Rat boi was older, and the change pretty sudden for him.
1:28
I love donnie having a beer then deciding he wanted glasses the rest of his life in the background
The glasses reminded me of the Sushi Turtles parody comic. Dunno if that was intentional or not on the Mutant Mayhem character designers' part, but it definitely made me smile.

Forget the mutants; the most unbelievable part of this movie is the idea that New Yorkers would be shocked by something weird.
FOR REAL

We don't care as long as it doesn't mess with our commute 😂
Smiled a bit when Baby leo went a little bit crazy after raph broke his staff in training.
I love how he went from being a human master ninja, to being the pet rat of a master ninja, to being a random rat who taught himself karate from old movies and 80's commercials.
I thin you got mix up, he start as per rat to human mutated to random rat again
It's weird because the character started as a rat trained by a ninja then they switched to him being a human which he turned into a rat after that they went back to the first setup where they changed to him to learn martial arts without any martial arts by a master but again they went back to the first setup again.
There was also in the comics when they both combined both origins by making splinter a mutated rat reincarnated from Hamato Yoshi (and the turtles Yoshis sons)
@@night-x6793 I can explain the whys
When Splinter was created as a rat that was trained in the art of the ninja comes from the belief that nijas learned how to be ninjas by imitating rats, thus rats are natural ninjas. Thus it "made sense" that a rat who was mutated into a meta human creature would be proeficient in ninjutsu. At first, the turtles were trained to kill the Shredder, which they do very early on in the comics.
In the cartoon they made, they made drastic changes to cater to a younger audience. Some of the changes included color coding the turtles and giving them a letter belt, giving a much bigger role to shredder and many of his underlings, some of which barely had any time in the comic before hand. An other change was to change Splinter from being a rat to a human. Since american kids in the 80s didn't have the cultural lore reference as to why a rat would be a skilled ninja by vitue of being a rat. It also allowed them to sell more toys of splinter by having both his human and rat form.
When the 90s came about, everything needed to be grittier and grungier and so they decided to go back to the original story of him being a rat, but the american audiences still didn't have the cultural reference, so they simply made it so that he was learning ninjutsu from a master as a rat.
If you look at this story, it almosts arcs back to its origins, where since he's a rat, he had a natural disposition to learn and master ninjutsu, so he only needed the cheap 80s ads and movies to steer himself and the turtles in the right direction. In my opinion this origin story is 2nd only to the 90s movie for comic accuracy.
Yeah but I also think he’s hiding something as well and will reveal it in the sequel
Jackie Chan as Splinter was always my dream cast and this movie really just went ahead and did it.
2:28 I love how baby Leo saying I wanna go up there it is just so cute

@@cejay3760 Mikey is the youngest of the ninja turtles
@@baileydavis1616
I said younger, not youngest.
Visually, this movie left me speechless, in terms of story, although at certain moments I noticed one or another cliché, it managed to interest me, but what I loved most was the personality of the turtles,They were literally teenagers from 14 to 16 years old and I loved that interpretation.
They were also young in Rise, Raph was 15, Leo and Donnie were 14 and Mikey was 13, and in the 2012 they were 15 if I recall correctly, or 16.
Totally, It’s like Spider-Man homecoming but with the ninja turtles.

The turtles as babies, whether animals or humanoid mutants are adorable.
Baby donnie finding glasses was just perfect
The only point of this where I basically went "WTF" is when Splinter suddently realized he specifically needed to learn the ancient art of Ninjutsu. Following this version of the story on its own, he had no formal training, not even an IDEA about the existence of the martial art itself, but it just suddenly popped into his head.
Man, no matter how many versions out there. Those turtles when they didn't get mutation is the cutest

It’s adorable how you can still tell who each of the turtles are, even without their gear :)
How do you think Splinter knows how to use electronics and having blacksmith skills to make Ninja weapons along with building the lair?
I get the feeling Seth isn't a true TMNT fan.

I still believe this Splinter was Hamoto Yoshi's pet rat, seeing how clean and well-kept Splinter looked back in his primitive rat form.

Whatta evil man
As much as I do love this version of splinter, I miss the skinny version who’s more of a skilled Sensei because yes he is a father but he’s also a very skilled martial artist there’s a way of having Splinter be that “Master” role while also still being the turtle’s father, the BEST example of that is the 2003 series of the turtles
This one IS a skilled sensei too. Did you not see the moment where he saved the turtles ?
@@jg2722 no, simply just NO. And I’m sorry but how in your mind does him saving his sons make him a “sensei”? Thats because he was. In the 90s movie(best) he was the pet of Hamato Yoshi.
In the Comix, he was Hamato Yoshi.

@@jonathanbermudez546 Or, hear me out. The turtles were the pets of Yoshi instead of Splinter. And if Shredder killed Yoshi, and the turtles were abandoned, they could’ve found their way into the sewer, and would later come into contact with the ooze and Splinter.
@@AlphaThorstenShit that would actually cook. I have a feeling that Shredder will be made for two movies .
I think Splinter will come out as being a pet rat of Yoshi. Yoshi used to watch Bruce Lee and othe ninjustu movies to sharpen his skills. Shredder would have killed Yoshi. Splinter would have left a scarth on Shredder.

Here's something I actually find underrated with this origin story: When the Turtles were interested in seeing the human world, I thought for sure Splinter was just going to say or do something along the lines of "you cannot go out there", due to his history of being hated by humans...
But he actually goes out of his way to try again at living amongst humans for the young Turtles. That honestly subverted my expectation for an origin story.

All of those Comics established that 1.) splinter learned from watching hamato Yoshi's ninjutsu 2.) Some versions even have it so that hamato Yoshi and splinter are in fact one and the same as a result of hamato Yoshi being exposed to the green ooze that mutated the turtles
The only one that has splinter teach the turtles ninjutsu through other means are mutant mayhem and the Michael Bay TMNT movies
These are the origins that a lot of fans really do not like and openly criticized for very justifiable reasons considering how they go against the original source material of the comics
The Mirage and IDW Comics had splinter fully experienced with ninjutsu.
