Thanks Daniel & Michael! Haven’t used Resolve in a looong time but I’m super excited to learn it and try it again out now it’s on the iPad! ✌🏻
A couple things that makes us believe this is here to stay and will be implemented shortly is the fact that the edit page has the quick export option and the edit page is automatically resizing when new windows are opened (Inspector, Media pool, effects) almost as if this is something they have worked on. It also runs amazingly well (on iPad m2) and seems well optimized for iPadOS.
I also noticed sigs this is not simply the Mac Version. Some work was done to make this work with touch. BLACKMAGIC was not kidding when they put the word MAGIC in their name.

The hack does not appear to persist if you force quit the application, though the shortcuts remain. That means you can just hit the shortcut again to make the tabs appear.

Great video! I've got a question a little unrelated. Maybe you can help. There are some tasks where I would have to keep the Apple pen pressed on screen (or mouse button held) without the options come up for me. Is there any way around this?

Just to add, in case it’s not yet known: I’m on an older pre M1 iPad, which was restricted to HD exports. With the deliver page unlocked, I can now export 4K!

the one caveat is that it takes them all away when you fully close the app making you have to redo all the shortcut keys but not bad. So good!
Just saw that but I didn’t have to go back to shortcuts to re input them. You just have to re click them to enable the pages back for now
Actually I don’t have an ios supported keyboard for my iPad. How should I do it in that case?

I ran into some problems activating the keyboard shortcuts page with my generic ipad keyboard it wouldn’t open but i decided to use my mx keys and try that and it worked.

Q: as an ipad pro 2018 user, will i be able to edit/export 4k videos ?
The code for ipados is quite similar for that used to code an app in mac os. It needs some adjust, obviously, but the easiest way to take an app from mac os to ipados is just to change the user interface and modify some parts of the modules. The core of the program is already done. That is the reason why DR user interface for iPad is exactly the same than in mac. If it’s hidden that is cause Blackmagic is still adapting the program or simply cause they dont want to offer the full program on ipad. Surely they prevent us to get into this modules in next updates

beautiful! so now that were working with resolve in the iPad, whats the most common way to handle the massive amount/size of files? people using cloud services, or external drives?
Im definitely using an external ssd hard drive. Im not Locked to the internet if its down or unavailable.
How to do this without actual keyboard? It’s confusing.

No way man! You did that all by yourself. The hack you found has changed the way so many people including myself are using their iPads. You’ve been killing it with how much content you’ve made around the topic and your new course looks great! I wish you nothing but the most success 🙌🏼
I could not be more excited. It looks like HDR export options are more rich then the desktop version which previously required the studio version to access. The export times also destroy lumafusion (along with just about everything else). DaVinci really has Apple Silicon optimized and I get renders at 80 frames a second from my Sony a7IV in 4K 60p. All on my iPad!

Wow thank you @DanielKovacs for the EPIC find and @initialfocus for spreading the news. I just turned this on (works as described on my M1 iPad Pro) ... looking forward to trying them out! I just hope they don't release an update which disables this (please don't, Blackmagic! -- we're happy to beta test!)

Also add to this is if you have a older iPad and stuck at HD resolution for rendering you can now just add in queue and render queue 4K videos under custom 😮❤

OK, most of these kinds of videos I kind of ignore, but I am a Resolve studio user and love the app... but I have the old non-ARM iPad Pro 12.9" and was curious, and... IT WORKS HERE TOO. Amazing. I'll be doing some playing around with it, and if I can do some minor editing and playing around with this old iPad AND it works to some usable extent, I'll be pulling out my credit card and popping for the studio version of it (not that I really need it, I have a nice Mac MINI M1 and a powerhouse Win 11 PC setup), just to help them support this app a little further.

Since a lot of professional video editors are here, is there any way to replace the ADOBE Audition feature (remix) to extend or shorten an audio clip with another free or paid once software?
Here is another tidbit that I discovered. I have the Apple C to AV adapter that I was using to power the iPad Pro and have the T7 SSD at the same time. It also has a HDMI port. So why not? Mirroring was fine, but that was not a plus. However, if you put your finger on the main editing window/panel display and hold it - up pops a little menu box that says "Video Clean Feed >". press on it and up pops a box that asks "none", "iPad built in display", and at the bottom "External Display" press on that and you now have your image displayed on the external monitor. I did this with both a small field monitor I had and an ASUS ProArt 27" monitor. Now you or your customer can see the video display image only on a big screen. Just a nice feature.

very nice!!!! I'm testing the Audio / Fairlight page right now ... but some stuff just does not work 100% ... level meters stop working after a few seconds .... the mixer is not showing up ... might be my "old" 2018 iPadPro or just this test project, or maybe not 100% iPad ready yet
I think they just do not officially "support" all the pages yet ... in my quick test with opening up a real mix I did in the Full Studio Mac Version a few weeks back ... the Fairlight Page on the iPad is not 100% solid usable for complex stuff. having said that, I have an older 2018 iPadPro, it might work better on an Apple Silicon iPadPro oh an also used 3rd party audio plugins in the original project ;)

I use da vinci on both ipad and windows.
On the iPad only 2 tabs CUT and COLORS appear, and I was happy to see that it is possible to open all tabs thanks to your UA-cam video.
But it is not saved and I have to do this process again and again every time I enter Da Vinci on the iPad.
Is there a way to keep all tabs open on the iPad?
Is there any way to add a time date counter at the bottom of the video using the IPad?

I hope BMD takes this the right way and don’t lock it down.
People should understand that this is a hack and to avoid lodging complaints on non-primetime features. Don’t ruin the fun and don’t forget to give them a good rating on the App Store
It's not really a hack in the technical sense. It is right in front of you. you are not changing the app in any way.
That said they might block this or maybe they wanted us to find this.
At least it’s not like Adobe where even the prime time features crash the system.
It ain't a hack tho. This is looking like something BMD just forgotten about when they were porting Davinci to Ipad.
Didn’t Blackmagic say the edit page wasn’t compatible with the iPad so they would be expanding the cut page to make do more to make up some of the difference?

Looks like the Media Page can’t properly link to external media yet as a source bin. Holy Crap Daniel! What an amazing find!!
Yup. Our links to footage and artwork in Google Drive have broken and even the Google Drive option in the Files selector is greyed out from within resolve.

Anyone know how to get an external monitor preview clean feed working on Studio version on iPad Pro? Works fine on Luma Fusion. And I have seen another UA-camr doing it. I have iPad settings such that mirroring is off. Thanks! (Mirroring works but that is pointless.)

Tried (IPadPro 2021 M1) the edit page with speed ramping - as I cannot do this in Lumafusion - it works but DVR closed itself several times during setting markes and also retime curve appears in the drop down menu but when you click it nothing happens..., so I think it is not really finished but I hope it will come soon officially
I have the same ipad and had no issues with the speed ramping. My only issue was with using a mouse. OK with pencil. I intend to work with LF and to use DVR to do the speed ramping when needed.

Is there a way to create 1080P proxies in the app if you don’t have a M1/M2 Pro? I have the 3rd gen Pro so apparently can only run 1080… But if I take 4k footage and make proxies I should be good, right? Maybe create the proxies on my PC then grab the footage from the cloud?! I honestly don’t know how to do proxies in either, as I’m coming from premier… Any suggestions beyond “Get an M1/M2, ya poor!” 😅🤙🏼
That’s what I was thinking also, worth trying, it should be able to be done since there is an option to use “Prefer proxies” in the top corner of the viewer window.
I used the edit page,in the morning it was fine but when i edited in the night for some reason it started resetting. Like it automatically closes. Is it because its not optimized?
