Lexus LM is just a modified Toyota Alphard. Cygnet is also just a modified Toyota iQ with more expensive parts and service. Quattroporte is called one of moneypits for a reason. But, yes Century is just on another level, and Toyota likes to keep it on the DL so not many snobs own it.
I like that you included the Genesis G90 and Toyota Century! However the VW Phaeton W12 is also an interesting luxury sedan. It's extremely understated, on the outside it looks just like a weird elongated Passat but on the inside it was one of the most luxurious sedans of its time.
G90 owner here... it's okay, bought it with 5000kms on it for $30k off retail. I wouldn't pay retail for it but when you can get the last naturally aspirated V8 luxury sedan on the market for less than a brand new G80, it's hard to say no. It replaced my 2015 Genesis V8.
Gotta love the japanese car market, not a huge Japan fan but their car brands (especially toyota and honda) are built to last. Had my CR-V for 11 years, never ever broke something down. These brands are legendary
This Toyota Century makes me think about luxury again. It isn't there for show-off, but to impress oneselves. It is to give comfortness, not to fancy. Therefore, I WANT THAT BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See, when you said that the EQS is like Steve Jobs’ idea of heaven, you pinpointed exactly why I hate its guts. “Sleek, white and digital” is one of the creepiest aesthetics out there to me, and while I totally get why people like it, I can’t stand it personally.
The Escalade looks massive - until you see it side by side with your average Houston couple. It immediately turns the escalade into a humble 2 seater just in terms of load capacity.
Really nice video, to be honest, I never took you as a guy who was into luxurious and "cutting edge" cars. I thought you were more old school type who is in love with the process and evolution of the car and the things that make it TICK. Nice to see a video with a twist!
A couple of my thoughts: - Maybach is great, but I'm sad it has so much in common with the regular S-Class these days - the Century is an underrated gem and it's exclusivity and sense of understatement make it really special - the Phantom VIII is the undisputed King of the segment and for me the definition of automotive luxury. I love its iconic design, it's flawless quality and overall sense of occasion - The Continental GT is always better as a coupé, every car is better as a coupé. - I'm not really sure why the Escalade is on the list. If we talk luxury SUVs it's either the Bentayga, Cullinan or Maybach GLS. And when we talk American luxury the CT6-V is a more classy option. A few cars I would add are the Alpina B7, the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, the Aston Martin DB11 (most beautiful modern car) and probably the already mentioned Bentayga with its W12 power train.
Escalade is here because it is excessive, just like those mansions and yachts. Continental coupe is better if you can exploit its full potential. Most people aren't skilled or brave enough to do that. That's why the convertible would be more enjoyable for them.
@@TopCarsTV I'll give you the Escalade :P But with better I didn't mean the performance of the Continental GT, but it's appearance. I think soft top cars always look really awkward. That's why I like the old SL 63 more than the new one
I'd definitely love to import a Toyota Century one day when it becomes old enough to be imported in our country and when I bought rich enough to pet it.
i can fully agree to the EQS, it is the best Mercedes, the S-Class looks nicer on the outside, but the inside cant win over this Hyperscreen, which just fits to the interior.
I've seen a lot of Toyota's version of the Lexus LM here in my dwelling since it's considered as a luxury car. And the tiny Aston is quite unique. As for the Maserati, as long as it's still under warranty, it was fantastic. After that ... your wallet would fantastically explode 😅
The Toyota Century would be my car of choice if I hit that extremely unlucky chance of becoming a VIP. It doesn’t break down and fabric seats. I hate how leather seats became the low bar for ‘luxury’. As mentioned, it squeaks and gets really hot in the sun.
The list is not just which car is more luxurious than the other, but in which ways luxury cars can be incredible. Escalade - Huuuuge RR - Opulent and Customizable Genesis - Cheap Bentley - fun to drive EQS - Advanced Century - Different Pullman - Bulletproof Private Jet
Very surprising how the B7 didn't make it to the list. With a top speed of a supercar (330 KMH/205 MPH, fastest production sedan ever made), handling of a sports car and comfort/luxury of a full size luxury sedan I would say it's quite incredible.
@@TopCarsTV the Continental is a coupe/convertible and the Flying Spur is 50% more expensive and doesn't handle anywhere near as well. It's also surprising but where I live the B7 is way rarer than the Flying Spur.
One thing is not mentioned about Century, basically it is in some aspects competitor to RR. Engine is not fast but smooth accelerating, and silence inside cabin is on the nearly same level as RR. With that coin, nobody tested it on Century
