Yep. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper s and while it is quick in a straight line it can’t keep up with wrx’s etc. But when it comes to cornering it just smashes them.
There is also the Brabus Roadster with 100 hp. Still slow if you're focused in a 0 to 60 but very fun on twisty roads! The gearbox is the slowest part and it feels better with the paddle shifts than with the gear lever.

Likewise 300ZX Z32. Looks like it'd be fast as hell but because it weighs the same as some station wagons and has measly hrsprs around 122, (N/A), it's not. At all. Still love the styling though, one if the most gorgeous machines ever created imo
still the 63 sedans, cabrios, and coupes are still pretty sick, although I must say AWD has caused them to lose the tireshredder status a bit even though they can have drift modes.
When I was in high school (late 90s) I had a 1976 Mustang II with a 4 cylinder. It was so slow! My plan was to swap in the engine it deserves but I ended up having a kid and plans changed.
Well, the SSR isn't meant to be sporty, it is retrostyle pickup which meant to be fun to drive, a cruiser kind of similar to the old alfa romeo spider and the last generation ford thunderbird
My 1978 Chevy Chevette was so slow that you could use a sundial to clock it from O to 60, but I don't think I ever went past 55 miles per hour in it. Chevy later put out one that had a diesel engine made by Isuzu, and a mechanic who drove one said that it was THE slowest car he had ever driven!
A few years back I had a 10th anniversary mx5 in blue. It would corner better than any car I've ever driven, and I've driven lots!. It made it as much fun as you can legally have on four wheels. Soft compound yokohamas helped.
i have a HKS tuned Smart Roadster. initially a 80 hp model, it now makes 300 hp. me and a tuning team made a custom 1.0 liter inline 3 engine and fitted a HKS turbo kit. i also made a fiberglass body kit and all. sports seats, everything. that thing is crazy fast, 0-100 kmh is around 4 seconds
Clicked on this video expecting to see the Smart Roadster and I did! Miss my old one! Such a fun little car. Shame about the questionable reliability! Would buy another though and definately a future classic!
It is much more fun to drive fast in a slow car, than driving slow with a fast car. Enhances driver skills. Slow on straights but with high cornering speeds. Pure fun Exception is the Mustang, badly engineered from ground up.
There was in Germany the Karmann Ghia, a Käfer( beetle) with a sports car body. And among german microcars of 1950s/ early 1960s there was a very tiny one, looking like a sports car, have forgotten then name ( Kleinschnittger?).
Fun fact the miata is the highest selling sports car ever. Also Mazda even used lighter bolts on everything to save weight. Had they had more power imagine how many more they would have sold.
Another good thing to add to miatas are that they come relatively cheap. The lowest can go for around 2000$, and the highest go for about 20k. Plus, it has great modding support thanks to a small, fuel efficient, reliable engine that can handle only slightly less abuse than a honda civic. NOICE

Well there is plenty slow sport cars from history, like Toyota 800 sport or Honda S500, S600, S800 but still i would love to drive them more than many fast cars. That English sport car got my attention, cool looking car and really light 😄
The miata may only have a 2L engine but everything is balanced which is what the manufacturers want and why its so good. It handles extremely well although not as fast as its rivals but its lightweight too.

The King Cobra had a 302, but it only had a 2 bbl carb---now that's sad. Honorable mention; 2000-2005 non-GTS Toyota Celica. It looked fast just standing still, but with only 140 hp and practically zero off-the-line torque, it was a real dog
i dont think the body of the car would be hard enough to withstand triple rotors torgue. the body would need to be seriously reinforced to not collapse from bending forces in the turns.

The Miata is a strange evolution. Every time they refine that car they shave off weight from nearly every component. Body panels, the frame, the motor, even the bolts that hood it all together. Every piece is reduced by at least a few grams of mass. Pretty cool actually.
They don't, but in a few years you will be able to import them over. A couple Roadsters have somehow managed to make their way over to the states though

Here in the Netherlands traffic is so bussy , horspower is obsolete . Highway : rightlane loaded with trucks , leftlane loaded with commuters . Countryroads : spoiled by speedbumps and thousants of roundabouts . So at least these slow sportscars have some desent fuelconsumption . 80 BHP is more than enough overhere !
You may have forgotten something that the Mg5 gt is one of the sporty looking sedans but the engine is only equipped with 1.5 114 hp and the cvt transmission and 0-100 are only 15 seconds
The definition of slow has changed over the decades. In 1970 an MGB, MG midget or Triumph Spitfire took well over 12 seconds to reach 60 mph. But affordable sports cars of the day were desired for their looks and handling rather than acceleration. In 1980, if your Datsun 280ZX, Mazda RX7 or Porsche 924 could do 0-60 in under 9.5 seconds, that was par for the course. (Psst: The Porsche took over 10 seconds). Econoboxes of the same era took over 14 seconds and big American V8 sedans took over 10. But by 1985 econoboxes were doing this in around 10 seconds, Japanese sports cars were down to under 8.5 seconds and Mustangs and Corvettes were back under 7.

Yep. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper s and while it is quick in a straight line it can’t keep up with wrx’s etc. But when it comes to cornering it just smashes them.

at the smart roadster coupe version there is actually a 1.4 V6 version and yes the smallest cylinder ever, but it makes 170 hp so its good!

I own an Ferrari Mondial T convertible. 300 HP is enough for this car, fun to drive and a great sound. Nothing to complain from my side.
Fun fact: the BTTF DeLorean DMC-12 had a special speedo that was basically the same as the factory, but it went up to 95mph.

In the UK the Miata is called a MX-5. Mine is a 1.8 Jasper Conran edition with a BRP MP62 supercharger. Now it's fast.
