Yep. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper s and while it is quick in a straight line it can’t keep up with wrx’s etc. But when it comes to cornering it just smashes them.
5:16 That Viper actually crashed on a mountain turn that was allegedly cursed and fortunately landed on it's wheels with the driver being completely fine as well as the car just being copiously filthy.
There is also the Brabus Roadster with 100 hp. Still slow if you're focused in a 0 to 60 but very fun on twisty roads! The gearbox is the slowest part and it feels better with the paddle shifts than with the gear lever.

When I was in high school (late 90s) I had a 1976 Mustang II with a 4 cylinder. It was so slow! My plan was to swap in the engine it deserves but I ended up having a kid and plans changed.
It is much more fun to drive fast in a slow car, than driving slow with a fast car. Enhances driver skills. Slow on straights but with high cornering speeds. Pure fun Exception is the Mustang, badly engineered from ground up.
My 1978 Chevy Chevette was so slow that you could use a sundial to clock it from O to 60, but I don't think I ever went past 55 miles per hour in it. Chevy later put out one that had a diesel engine made by Isuzu, and a mechanic who drove one said that it was THE slowest car he had ever driven!
Clicked on this video expecting to see the Smart Roadster and I did! Miss my old one! Such a fun little car. Shame about the questionable reliability! Would buy another though and definately a future classic!
Well, the SSR isn't meant to be sporty, it is retrostyle pickup which meant to be fun to drive, a cruiser kind of similar to the old alfa romeo spider and the last generation ford thunderbird
A few years back I had a 10th anniversary mx5 in blue. It would corner better than any car I've ever driven, and I've driven lots!. It made it as much fun as you can legally have on four wheels. Soft compound yokohamas helped.
There was in Germany the Karmann Ghia, a Käfer( beetle) with a sports car body. And among german microcars of 1950s/ early 1960s there was a very tiny one, looking like a sports car, have forgotten then name ( Kleinschnittger?).

i have a HKS tuned Smart Roadster. initially a 80 hp model, it now makes 300 hp. me and a tuning team made a custom 1.0 liter inline 3 engine and fitted a HKS turbo kit. i also made a fiberglass body kit and all. sports seats, everything. that thing is crazy fast, 0-100 kmh is around 4 seconds
This is just Americans still not understanding that cornering ability has more value on a circuit than straight line speed. Pick any car from this video and race it against a mustang from the same period on a circuit. What do you think would happen?
Another good thing to add to miatas are that they come relatively cheap. The lowest can go for around 2000$, and the highest go for about 20k. Plus, it has great modding support thanks to a small, fuel efficient, reliable engine that can handle only slightly less abuse than a honda civic. NOICE

Fun fact the miata is the highest selling sports car ever. Also Mazda even used lighter bolts on everything to save weight. Had they had more power imagine how many more they would have sold.
They don't, but in a few years you will be able to import them over. A couple Roadsters have somehow managed to make their way over to the states though
The miata may only have a 2L engine but everything is balanced which is what the manufacturers want and why its so good. It handles extremely well although not as fast as its rivals but its lightweight too.
i dont think the body of the car would be hard enough to withstand triple rotors torgue. the body would need to be seriously reinforced to not collapse from bending forces in the turns.

Well there is plenty slow sport cars from history, like Toyota 800 sport or Honda S500, S600, S800 but still i would love to drive them more than many fast cars. That English sport car got my attention, cool looking car and really light 😄

Yep. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper s and while it is quick in a straight line it can’t keep up with wrx’s etc. But when it comes to cornering it just smashes them.

I own an Ferrari Mondial T convertible. 300 HP is enough for this car, fun to drive and a great sound. Nothing to complain from my side.

Fun fact, a horse has about 15hp when sprinting, so with 4 strapped to a chariot, it makes a similar 60hp!
at the smart roadster coupe version there is actually a 1.4 V6 version and yes the smallest cylinder ever, but it makes 170 hp so its good!

You forgot to mention the '82 Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am, only able to push 165 hp through a 3 speed automatic and do 0-60 in about 8-9 seconds.
