  • Tonight I test out the all new X2 Pro stove set and frying pan from Firemaple. I did try the larger has cannister and although it fits inside the width, it's too high to fit in with the stove.

That’s a nice sized pot and the whole set looks well made
We’re going through an endless heatwave here. When you said you were feeling cold, I thought..
    I’m looking forward to that!
You probably slept well because of the silence and the coolness
Until your next video..take care 🇨🇦❤️

Thanks Sue. I over did my sleep system though and was very hot. I tend to sleep better warm than cold. Silence definitely helped though. 👍

I was looking at this yesterday and nearly got one. Thought I'd wait for your video first.
Think I will get one. Can't beat Fire Maple for cooking gear.
When you said a UV light, I knew immediately you were going to mention Adams Rotten Rooms 😂

I don't like the idea of camping to the sound of a jet taking off so I'll wait the extra few minutes for my cuppa or burger and keep using my alcohol stove.
Jet boils/gas stoves in general, to me, are the equivalent of a nice summer afternoon in the garden when some chav neighbour decides it's a good idea to blast out some horrendous, tacky, basically shit music and kill the whole ambience.
I still watched the whole video though, because you're great at what you do and you deserve the views :)

🤣 thanks Paul and I agree with what you say. The majority of my cooking is sken on alcohol for that very reason but there's a lot out there with the need for speed! 👍

Burgers looked good. Tend to agree about the noise however they are quick so if you are desperately hungry they are good. What footprint are you using with the X-mid?

@michaelharrison9445 cheers. It's just a cheap 3FUL one from ali express. Very light and packs tiny. I made one from tyvek after recommendations but it was bulky and way heavier.

Thanks for replying, I’ve got a tyvek one too 320 grams and bulky!

@michaelharrison9445 thr 3ful one I think is about 150g. Packs into a pouch only slightly bigger than a tennis ball.

Have no desire to get a Jetboil-esque system for backpacking. But if I were, this is the one I'd go with. Burgers looked excellent. Wish I was less lazy in the backcountry to have the desire to actually cook good food.

Yeah I need to cook more real food. It's my target this year 👍

@@NoviceWildCamperAndy Kent Survival is an excellent cook. Brioche is the perfect choice for burgers. I get the ones with seasme seeds. 👍

Sometimes I let your videos playing in the background but then I miss these wallpaper-like landscapes.
How much do you walk from you car to these spots?

Depends on the camp really. Sometimes 5 or 6 miles but generally around 1 to 2 miles specially on dartmoor as there's so many places to park near the tors.

Noisy isn't it! I quite like these systems but once you've cooked yor porridge or pasta you have to clean the pot to make a coffee. Or carry a kettle.

    • @NoviceWildCamper
      @NoviceWildCamper  Місяць тому +1

@bobalinga I'd only use it for dehydrated or pouch food tbh, plus the frying pan for the rest. And yes, these things are pretty noisy when on full blast. Not bad when frying though on low simmer.

Still like all of these Jetboil type stoves sounds like a jet taking off, so still a no from me!

Same here hence I generally use an alcohol stove but there's loads out there who love them. 👍

I use one of these types of stove daily. You don't have to run it full bore. I'm intolerant of annoying noises and I've either tuned it out or it's just not that bad at lower ferocity.
My main issues with previous stoves of this type is the way the large plastic gets melted where it interfaces with the"windshield that attaches to the pot. Have they fixed that with this version? Is it more metal closer to the flame?
