All Spain is amazing, the culture of the bars and tapas, the live in the streets until midnight, the diversity of the gastronomy and the landscapes, being a small territory, is awesome. And all of this with a beautifull weather and cheap prices! And strongly safe!
I agree with all of this! Spain is fantastic and we felt safe the whole time. Day and night.
I spent a month in Seville, one week, Semana Santa. Up at Noon beddy bye at 4AM Bodegas, tapas, religious processions, the horses and the music. Escorted around by someone from an Old Family. Sobered Easter Sunday in front of the Bull Ring eating a sheep brain sandwich. Had to be fortified for the bullfights. Viva Espana!
Thank you for sharing your perspective on the siesta in Spain. It's interesting to learn that the midday rest is not necessarily about taking a nap, but rather a break to coincide with the opening hours of shops in the afternoon.
I would recommend you a coastal tour in Spain. Perhaps not a month, but 2 weeks at each place, Huelva, Cadiz, Málaga, Granada, Almería are all great experiences all in Andalucia, Cartagena in Murcia, Alicante - Elx - Costa Blanca, Denia, Ibiza - Formentera Mallorca - Menorca València, Castelló, Tarragona, Barcelona Girona, Donostia, Bilbo, Santander, Oviedo - Gijón, Lugo, A Corunha, Pontevedra, (21 stages, less than a year) and after that Portugal, Porto, Lisboa y Alentejo. Or in the other way, starting from the south of Portugal.
We got lost so many times in Serville but in a good way .
No te jode.
I love the siesta - It prepares me for the evening tapas and cerveza.
Food looks yummy in Seville.
Sevilla una ciudad única
Bella la ciudad de sevilla
Seville is a beautiful city. I can't wait to go back. 😍
I LOVE 🇪🇸 🇪🇸 🇪🇸
Omg with your glasses on I thought you were Hair Buddha!🤣🤣
Sevilla es una maravilla. I lived there for a year in the 1970s. I'm afraid to go back because it's changed so much. Perhaps for the better? ¡Ojalá! Great video. Are you still there, and do you work in Sevilla?
Really enjoying your videos, so glad I found your channel.
Thanks David! I appreciate the kind words. 🙏
Ay Sevilla qué bonita es
Hola - visit Cadiz - you and yours will fall in love with that city
We went to Cadiz once during a cruise but it's not the same when you can only stay a few hours before you need to get back on the ship. I definitely need to go back and spend more time there.
Just discovered your channel. I'm in love with Spain and plane on returning soon to stay for three months. A few weeks here and there. I'd like to know how you secured an apartment for a month?!? Please and thank you.
We normally book our apartments on Airbnb. In my experience it's best to book on Airbnb at least 3 months before you plan on arriving - that way you'll have more options available. A lot of places on Airbnb offer monthly stay discounts if it's 28 days or more(10-30% sometimes more), so be sure to message them and ask for a discount. Every place we visited in Spain was amazing. My favorite was Seville but Granada was pretty damn nice too. Tapas heaven. 😍. Thanks for watching 🙏
❤ Sevilla!
I see you bought sliced bread, but not the normal bread we eat in Spain (you buy it on a daily basis at the "panadería"). Once you eat that bread, you´ll never want sliced ever again ;) :D
The only negative I’ve ever heard about Seville is the summer heat.
I don't know why everybody insists on nobody doing the siesta. In Seville, there is nobody on the streets at certain hours in summer, except for the tourists, and the nights are nice and busy, though. People"s sleeping hours change. I know many people who take a nap after lunch. In the practice, summer is the predominant season, going from May to October. Spring can be quite hot too. In towns and villages it is difficult to find anything open before 5:30 pm in summer, especially when they know they are going to be open until late, when people fill the streets, the busiest hour being around 7 pm in summer. It gets dark quite late too. If you want to make some money, you open when there are going to be people coming into your shop. Of course shopping centres and departament stores can afford to be open all day. So, yes, there are people who do the siesta, or try to, or just disconnect and relax in the sofa. People who have outdoor jobs, like people working the land or working at construcción sites, have full day's work with no lunch break finishing at 14:30 in June, July and August. Other Jobs do it in July and August, or just August. Basically, people adapt timetables to the weather. If you live in Iceland, the streets are probably empty at different hours. What people do during the hottest hours in Seville is something only they know, but doing a short siesta is not uncommon for people I know, and your mind really appreciates it!
" In Seville, there is nobody on the streets at certain hours in summer, except for the tourists," This was exactly my experience when visiting Seville.
¡Gracias por el comentario que estaba esperando! ¡Somos muchos!
I agree It is related with climate. People working in construction or agriculture start before the rise of Sun, using lights, in order to finish around lunch time when It gets too hot. Then they have finished work for the day and do not come back. Then you can lunch, do siesta or play videogames but as Anys other person in Anys country.
❤💛💛❤️
What area of Sevilla was that?
How did you rent your flat ?
I do not know anyone in Spain that does siesta apart from holidays or weekends.
That's a shame. I needed a siesta just to keep up with the great nightlife. 😂
A lot of people. My husband sets an alarm at 4 to wake up and go back to work. But needs half an hour of rest as minimum at the middle of the day. As for me, not everyday, but some days I need it.
@@hiscoregirl9784 maybe in Andalusia or other warm places. And only in some jobs, as the usual ones just do one quick stop for lunch and back to work.
@@alazraq6475 Galicia, in the north! And working in Systems administrators. It's not so difficult to take a time for a nap if you need it.
@@hiscoregirl9784 tu marido debe de ser el único, compañera.
My level of jealousy right now.....why am I still in Ireland??? This is like my idealistic idea of Spain!
Imagine if Americans(in this case, poorly educated Southerners) made a video. Well, there you go. At least they didn't slag on the locals for being "different". But, this wasn't exactly insider stuff. More like, Yokels unleashed.
Hi, wellcome!!
Has a spaniard i have to tell you that not many people do the "siesta" and if the do its not more than 30 minutes.
Any way its just the tipicalle stereotipe of every place.
Thanks for your beauty words about my lovely country!
I definitely needed the siesta! I had trouble adjusting to the amazing night life in Seville. Thanks for watching 🙏
