Curt I’m looking forward to reading your book. I grew up in the Southern Baptist denomination, but came to the same conclusion after reading the Bible over and over for many years. Once I saw it, it was everywhere.
About 16 years ago I was reading Psalms 145:17 slowly out loud to myself “The LORD is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds.” I couldn’t honestly say I believed He was kind in ALL His deeds (judgements toward mankind). So I thought maybe I have misunderstood His judgements, maybe they are redemptive. So I searched the scriptures diligently reading the Bible through every year carefully looking at His judgements and came to the conclusion that they are indeed redemptive and Jesus ends up bringing all to faith. It’s the greatest love story never told.
Thanks so much, Kyle! If you’d ever be open to an interview for my channel- please let me know…. There are many out there who would be encouraged by your story! Blessings! wayne
Awesome! BTW - did you send me an email earlier today? (trying to make sure I am not confusing you with another commentor 👍🏼) If you haven't - please reach out to me at: hwaynefair [at] yahoo [dot] com Thanks so much!
About half way through. Really enjoying this Pastor. His struggles with Scripture and tradition continue to be stumbling blocks for me. Gonna have to get this book.
I've been exploring universal reconciliation/salvation for awhile now. I had read enough comments from atheists and others who made me question things. It has become difficult for me to believe in eternal conscious torment when I think of my Creator who knows the end from the beginning. Every child crafted in the womb by His hands to likely one day be sent to unimaginable torture. We're supposed to live in paradise in heaven or the new earth while most of humanity who ever lived is screaming in torment. But, we'll just have our memories wiped or something. I was generally raised Baptist, but I often wonder about all of the massive other religions out there with billions of people thought to be going to 'hell' despite our attempts to spread the Gospel. Even within Christianity itself there are endless arguments between Catholics and Protestants or Law vs. Grace. Also, in the old testament with basically everybody outside of the Israelites 'doomed to hell' because they didn't have the Torah to follow. I think one problem is that people see a belief in Christian Universalism and think we're excusing sin. I am fairly conservative and have been disgusted with the destruction of morality in the U.S., especially in the last decade. I certainly believe that there will be a temporary punishment for those who aren't 'saved' in this life.
Really appreciate your comments 👍🏼 I have been a very "convinced" (some say "dogmatic") Christian Universalist for over 15 years now... I agree with all that you said - especially the misconception (among MANY) that a belief in universal reconciliation "excuses" sin - that we're "antinomian" or some such.... But we believe in hell and genuine "justice" and "judgment" (in some ways) more than any alternative perspective. We look at God with "both eyes" - "the Goodness and Severity of God" (Romans 1122). But between them we know that a maximal view of God's essence is that He is Love - and that He is Good❤️ - and that His Fatherly punishments are for our good - to burn away "all that is not of love's kind" (George MacDonald). Thanks for sharing! And if I can ever be of assistance please don't hesitate to reach out - Yours - sincerely, wayne
Thanks everyone, and a special thank you to John and Wayne for setting this up! I really appreciated meeting some of you online, and I especially enjoyed our discussion later. One detail in my initial presentation I should clarify: the weekly leadership training class I referred to was with the church here in the Sacramento area, not in Puerto Rico. I got to talking too fast and said one church when I meant the other!
Thanks, Curt! It was a great honor to meet you and hear yet another story of God's conquering Love ❤️ I already see here a couple of commentors saying they will be getting your book 🤗 I pray it has great success in spreading this truly Good News of God's inescapable Love - of the Shepherd who simply will never give up on any of us!
Sorry - I'm afraid that's all we have - maybe just a "teaser" for Curt's book (which is just $10 in the Kindle version). Thanks for your comment! And please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way... -wayne
Sorry - this was the complete presentation that Curt made to our zoom meetup group last Saturday. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance! -wayne
I am encouraged that more and more books on UR are appearing. Rev. Parton’s book appears to be a good contribution to the growing body of literature.
@@warrenroby6907 Totally 👍- Thanks, Warren!
