Sense Reality 2.0 and ADAS (only with latest firmware+app)
The SR2.0 can be enabled or disabled while looking at the live footage in the app. There's a SR button for that.
ADAS works when enabled in the app settings in the latest version of the DDPAI app. But it is only via audio, not visual and can be set to high, low or off. An english voice will for example say if you distance to the next is too close or if you lane on the road is changing (this I have personally tested on my device).

Yes you're right about that, but as long you set the resolution in the camera options to 2K+ it will record in 3840x2160p, inside the app they should have called this 4K instead of 2K+.

They updated the DDPai app now for it, now it shows the correct 4K, 2K and FHD settings in the app.

There is not a bluetooth snapshot button anymore like previous models Mini, Mini2, Mini3 had. It was very usefull. How to take a snapshot video during the drive now? Only from the app?

The mount can't rotate all the way around. But you can insert the camera the other way around in the holder, so it points inside instead of outside.

If I don't run 4K, can I get higher frame rates? In my experience, resolution is second in importance to frame rate - often the compression on a 4K recording, combined with the motion of vehicles, means that registration numbers are unreadable - a lower res camera operating at higher FPS is much clearer.

When used with cradle, USB cable is connected to the cradle or directly to the camera, so that every time you have to reconnect it to the camera? Otherwise I do not understand what these contacts on the side of the camera are used for.
You're completely right! Unfortunately the contacts are only magnets to hold it steady in place, they do not provide power and you need to manually remove the cable, and later reconnect it again which is inconvenient. But at least the cable is thanks to USB-C which is double sided easy to connect.
I know there's a 4G cellular version of the cradle in China. I guess that's what the contracts for.

The SR overlay will not be exported, just the video with the time/date stamp. The SR overlay can only be turned on/off inside the app while playing it there.
how did you record the virtual reality info? Is the VR info available afterward, from the recorded video footage? Or the VR info can only be recorded during live recording?
The SR info (as they call it, cockpit like elements) and GPS data can only be enabled on/off within the DDPai app. So it doesn't show if you play the video with another videoplayer (but here it still shows date/time and speed, which is embedded into the video in the bottom). It can be seen inside the app live while driving, or if you download videos from the camera to your smartphone, and watch them afterwards offline. (then the SR inside the app can still be turned on/off while watching them).
What bitrate does the camera save video clips with? Is it configurable? Bitrate is more important than resolution.
The MPEG4 Video Bitrate vary and is between 20-28 Mbit/sec. It can not be configured.
@Anony Mouse I think your requirements are to high for a dash cam. 4K 30fps should be fine for most situations, 60fps is just nice to have. Also I don't think you find any real 4K dash cam with 60fps on the market, especially not in this price class, if so list it here.
The quality of the videos from the DDPai Mini 5 looks crisp and clear in my eyes (which also can be seen in my review video). The Mola N3 is only 2560x1600P (WQXGA, OV05A10 image sensor) where the Mini 5 is 3840x2160p using the Sony IMX415 image sensor, so not the same. And ffs we are not here talking about a professional camera, but just a simple dash camera.
Does the beautiful virtual dashboard also work in recorded videos? Can we download videos with or without virtual dashboard?
On the PC it will be without, only if you play them through the DDPAI app on the phone it can be enabled/disabled through their player.

No this is not a webcam, if connected to a PC it will just show the storage of the camera, from there you can then copy and save the videos.

5G in the specs means that it has 5GHz WiFi connection. Most mobiles support it already, so you can download videos much faster than using the old 2.4 GHz WiFi standard

Well, you can do that, but you can't sync them together. Each one will just record to the internal storage. And you will need to connect to each one with the app/phone (but connecting to a phone is not a requirement).

Super Video. Meine Frage ist. Wie sieht es aus mit dem parking mode und vor allem bei Dunkelheit. Hier in meiner Gegend werden öfters Autos zerkratzt wie meins auch vor kurzem. Hat der ein parking mode (natürlich wenn man über Batterie angeschlossen ist.)
Wenn ja wie genau funktioniert der? Vielleicht könntest du auch ein Video dazu machen.
Danke, der Parking Mode habe ich leider nicht selbst getestet da ich es nicht direkt am Batterie habe. Die Kamera sollte aber ein parking mode haben die nach Stillstand sich selbst aktiviert. Genaueres dazu kann ich leider nicht sagen. Bei kompletter Dunkelheit glaube ich nicht dass man viel sehen wird, ein bisschen Licht ist schon notwendig. Aber bei Nachtfahrten bin ich zufrieden. Wie es dann bei Dunkelheit im Park Mode ist weiß ich leider nicht.
Der Hersteller selbst schreibt (ohne Gewähr):
When the Dash Cam goes into standby for longer than 15 minutes, the DDPAI Dash Cam will go into Parking Mode, in this mode, you can select normal recording (30 frames per second) or time-lapse recording (1 frame per second).

Why in the Resolution screen is there only a 2K and 1080P options, where is the 4K option?
It was a bug in the first early version of the app. Now today if you download and install it from the play store or app store it has correct 4K in the settings.

Yes, you can connect it via USB C to a PC and transfer the videos to it, and then play the videos there. That is no problem.

@@nathanhickman1213 GPS map data can only be seen/enabled if you play the video via the DDPAI app and use their player. I'm not quite sure where the GPS data are stored. You would need to ask DDPAI support for that.
I am looking for dashcam which captures stable videos even in bad road condition. which one do you prefer DDpai mini 5 or 70mai A800. Does A800 also has gyroscope and EIS?
Sorry but I don't know the 70mai A800, so I can't say. I can only say that the recordings that I so far have made with the DDPai Mini 5 are all very stable and steady. I never experienced any problems with it.

Hi, just wondering if camera can record in 50 or 60fps in 1080p resolution?
The hardware should be able to do this, but in the software there is no option to change this, so it just always record with 30 fps. On the other hand, I personally find the videos pretty smooth already.

in the cells are the corresponding minutes for frame / resolution

In 4K approx 5 hours recording. If just in HD then approx 40 hours. When it is full it will just cycle and start to overwrite the oldest files first.

Is the GPS data recorded to the video files so it can looked at a later date?
Yes the GPS data/route on live or downloaded videos to the smartphone can be seen within the DDPai app, also at a later date. But only with that app. So if you play the videos with another video player you can't see the GPS data.
I saw that you can stream, you can record in the cloud? to access recorded videos remotely?
It saves to the internal storage of the camera. The videos can be steamed and saved to the smartphone and from there you can share them to the cloud. But not automatically, you will need to share and upload them manually.

No this is only for front recording
if the cam is connected via the 12v lighter plug in the car, does the camera automatically shuts off when the car engine is switched off? Or do you need to unplug it everytime to make sure the car battery is not drained?
When you turn off the cars engine, the camera will also turn off by itself. When you turn on the car, the camera automatically also turns on again and starts recording.
Only if you hardwire the power directly to the cars battery, it will stay on even when you turn off the engine. In the settings you can set for how long before it goes into a special powersaving parking mode which doesn't drain the battery.

@@rrp3826 I think it is because your 12v port is still giving power for a short time after the engine then has been turned off. Normally all ports with 12v in the car should turn off, short time after. That depends on your car.

How do we turn off the blue light when dashcam is on?
Not possible, put a black sticker over the LED if it annoys you. Blue indicates that it is recording, red error and purple at impact or emergency.
Some times while driving DDPAI Mini 5 - blue LED is blinking, what does it mean ?
Blue light should not be blinking. The blinking light is purple. It does this when recording hard vibration and/or taking picture. You can adjust the sensitivity in the setting to high. BTW the voice to take picture does not work. At least for me.

You need the hardwire cable for that, so it always has power connected.
But you could do it this way: connect the camera to a big power bank and place it permanently in the car, and connect the cars power to the power bank to charge it. This way the car will charge the powerbank when you are driving, and when you turn off the car the camera will stay on, still getting the power from the powerbank.

That depends on the head unit. It requires that it can run DDPais Android app and that it through WiFi direct can connect with the camera. If it is capable of this, then it should be possible.

So is it 4K or 2K? The settings on the phone only showed 2K and 1080.
The resolution is 3840x2160p when you check the video file with for example VLC player on the PC.
The app I used when I made this video, showed wrong setting info. The app has since then been updated by DDPai, so now it does show correct 4K / 2K or 1080p in the app settings.

No that's not possible. Only the mount can be adjusted up and down. Left and right is for me not necessary, I get the full wide picture.

@@KahanisGoldenBytes I think if the rear window is near straight then it will not be easy as the mount only tilts like 15 degrees up or down. A bigger tilt is not possible. Maybe if you get another kind of mounting, you can put the original mount on top of that. But how far this is possible I don't know for sure.

Inside the app, app settings and then measurement unit. Works fine.
I changed the settings in app to imperial but the onboard video is showing metric. Can someone tell me how to make the camera to show imperial?
It can be changed under App Settings and then Measurement Unit. This is working fine for me. I can switch, so it shows Miles or KM/h in the SR dashboard. Be sure to use the latest version of the DDPai app.
How to disable welcome sound?!
That is done through the app. Inside camera settings, then advanced setting, and here startup sound can be toggled to off.

The specs from the manufacture says eMMC high speed is 100MB/s. When I transfer the files from the camera to my laptop over a USB cable it is pretty fast. I don't know how fast it is to the phone, you probably need to wait some couple of minutes to the phone, depending on the length and resolution of the video plus the wi-fi and speed of the phone you use.

I don't have the hardwire cable, so I haven't tested the parking mode - so can't say. But from what I have read I think it records all the time then, but with very low frames.

Through the 6-axis gyroscope the dash cam is collecting data about your trip, including acceleration, gforce, driving performance, average speed, max speed, trajectory and deviation and some of that is visible via the smartphone app and SR. The gyro has nothing to do with video stabilization.
Is anyone able to play live video or preview while enabling cellular data on iPhones?
I'm connected to the camera over wifi direct and have also 4G enabled on my phone. But data will not work when my phone is connected to wifi also (the camera).

Apparently, wifi and mobile data cant work at the same time. so the dvr will have to have its own sim card for remote view

What do you mean? You can see a live stream on you smartphone when you connect it to the camera. The camera then just need to have power. You don't need to drive for that. A power bank can also power it on.

Maybe try with another phone to see if it's your phone or the camera? Do you also input the correct WiFi password?

4K cam, but video is only 1080P.
The camera records in 4K. This review video is in FHD yes, but still resized 4K to FHD will look better than just FHD.
An anti glare lens would be better, especially on sunny days
I agree, but almost all dash cams have this issue. Especially in this price class.
Don't buy these dash cams... They will only work maximum 1 year... Waste of money... They have no warrantt
It's also sold on Amazon. So of course there is warranty. If not it would be against the law about warranty. Also I have had several similar dash cams, they have worked for many years.
This camera is also sold under Xiaomi's Ecosystem. Xiaomi is a high quality and world wide respected brand comparable with Huawei or Apple.
Well, I can tell you here now 3 years later, that I am still using this dashcam at it is STILL working like on day 1!!!!
But crappiest ddpai app not working at all
It's working fine for me. Did you use the latest version of the app? Where it also shows correct 4K inside the resolution in the camera settings.

@@arunmohanty123 you can not register while you are connected to the camera over wifi. You need to register while your connected to your normal wifi or 4G.
Tried it on 4G n wifi , still the same, its not recognizing gmail id.

Sense Reality 2.0 and ADAS (only with latest firmware+app)
The SR2.0 can be enabled or disabled while looking at the live footage in the app. There's a SR button for that.
ADAS works when enabled in the app settings in the latest version of the DDPAI app. But it is only via audio, not visual and can be set to high, low or off. An english voice will for example say if you distance to the next is too close or if you lane on the road is changing (this I have personally tested on my device).

Both Huawei and Xiaomi are China brands, the hardware they produce is usually high quality. Like in all countries, there can be good and bad products.
Dislike only for stupid lod music at the beginning. Think this is cool? Then try to watch adequate videos on UA-cam and then open this masterpiece in headphones or with sleeping wife beside! 80 level dumbness.....
