Interesting video...I detect here in the UK for historic relics rather than gold, but I use a set up very similar to yours, except I use a shovel instead of a pick...I have added a short length of bungee cord that hooks onto the D ring on the shoulder strap of the harness so it then becomes a swing harness to take some of the weight of the detector. I don't detect anywhere particularly remote these days, but in the past I was in the Army Reserves and also an avid hunter, so I am quite happy being off the beaten path so to speak. One thing I would highly recommend is a separate stand alone GPS given how critical location is to you guys. A simple unit will do and just keep it as a spare..I would back the two GPS unitd up with a compass and a topo map if good detailed maps are available for the area you detect... Getting back to your video, you mention your iPhone allows you to send texts via satellite...Would love to here more about that feature and whether it's iPhone only, or whether it's available for Android users as well? Regards, Peter
Hi Peter, thanks for your informative response. It’s greatly appreciated. Satellite capability is iPhone specific to the more recent iphones. Regards MattG
I carry a go straw water filter and a 600ml bottle of coke. When the coke is empty, keep it, and the go straw can be screwed on the bottle. It will filter anybquality water and has saved me once. Thats probably the most important thing id add. Think itbwas about $40 from Mitchells at casaurina.
Go straw is a bit different to a life straw. Life straw only filters bacteria and floating, go straw can filter all that plus most virus and even chemicals, and has a screw attachment that allows to screw on just about any standard softdrink bottle, 600ml, 1.25 lt , 2lt etc. Life straw does not have the thread. You have to drink from the water source.
Thanks for sharing. I think I’m a little more informed
Thanks.
