I grew up a few miles from this site in White Rock. My friends and I would often go there at night and get high and walk around the village area. Tons of pot shards every where, incredible views, serene.
Those rocks are compressed volcanic ash. Tuff. There is an dormant super volcano just a little ways from there. Valles Caldera. The old CdeBaca ranch. My favorite place. They filmed Longmier there.
a lot of the caves that were created used fire for the spalling affect which created them hence the black smoke on the ceilings lots of videos on those creating caves in many types of materials
The public is allowed to enter in the areas we filmed. The areas that the public is not allowed to go into, they ensure to block off, which is why you did not see us film in those areas and we even stated that in our video. The same goes for the main Bandelier Monument. They will allow the public to go into certain cavates, but areas they don't want to public going into they block off. If you watch our other videos, we explain the do's and don'ts when visiting these sites to ensure they stay preserved.
Another great video! Looks like another beautiful and amazing area!

I believe at least some of the pathways in the cliff area were used to divert rainwater. Enjoyed the video, visited the area as a teen.
Yeah, that would make sense as we have seen such things at other sites. I'm sure it is a lot different now than when you visited.

That's pretty cool that you were able to experience that as a kid.
