I was 13 or 14 when this came out. I'm 46 now, and it's just as great as it was then. As a matter of fact, I think it's better. Much, much better, because I've lived.
Sin duda los mejores Dos grupos de acid jazz, Brand, new heavies y el grupo Incógnito, lo mejor de lo mejor, saludos a todos los que como yo disfrutan esta super música 🎶, saludos a los Brand New Heavies 😁👋
Jan and Andrew and Simon have the funkiest grooves!! I love listening to Jan in All of their songs. Such varied funkiness he does on the drums! Complimented by Andrews nasty/funky bass lines and Simons tasty guitar licks. Another one of my fav songs from the Debut CD.BNH has and always will be a major influence on me for playing in a band and Ill be a fan of them 4-ever :)
We have failed today's youth as it pertains to music. From the closing of high school musical programs to record companies caught up in the bullshit rap industry, great music like this classic from The Brand Heavies is an afterthought. The legacies of every musical immortal is nothing but a distant memory. Kids of today have been brainwashed to believe that real good feel music is corny. I really feel sorry for our children of today because they will never know what good music is all about.
Mr. Brown, you've told nothing but the truth. It saddens me almost to tears when I pull up videos such as this and think about the current scene; it's as if the sun has set and has ceased to rise. What robbery to deprive children of opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment by not placing instruments in their hands, and thereby also robbing society of it's next wave of creative brilliance. I'm a musician myself since childhood, and playing an actual instrument with some proficiency has helped me to MAKE better music. I feel like most of this stuff being played today shows no real MUSICAL competence, originality, or true creativity; we're all the worse for it. 😢💔
I remember I was shopping at Winn Dixie in New Orleans, and I saw Ndea with her little blue basket. I passed her up and I was like, 'wait a minute?' Was that? NO, couldn't be. Then I turned around and went to tap her on her shoulder and said.. "Excuse me, but um, you look like Ndea from the BNH. She was like, shhh! I said, I know, I know, but can I have your autograph? she said ok, but hurry up! I giggled a little, ripped off a piece of paper from the nearest thing I could find and she signed it. Epic moment.
Years ago after I got out the Navy, I bought a home outside Atlanta in Stone Mountain, my next door neighbor was a graduate of Spellman College and she and N'dea were classmates and she had pictures of the of them together hanging out. BNH is my all-time favorite and I was always asking her questions about N'dea. You're fortunate to have actually met her, she seems like a down-to-earth person.
I heard that she went to Spellman, plus Keith Elam aka Guru from Gang Starr went to Morehouse. They met there and would later collaborate on the Jazzmatazz album,. RIP Guru
mmmm..same case with me here, when they have session in Java Jazz Festival for the 1st time..everyone is queuing for the show, but it seems not many of them really knew the band member at that time :)..I saw Jan Kincaid was walking around looking for the stage..So I approach him, and asked him to take a photo and he was so nice and we take some photos..at that time I told him that how I've been their fan since few years back. it was in 2006 :)
Recalling the day my pastor called my job and requested I lead our Wednesday night bible study --- the same night I had tickets to see The Brand New Heavies at the Roxy Theater. Good one, Father.
You got that right. N'Dea was the final piece to the BNH puzzle IMHO. Her voice really turned that group's sound on! Her departure was something akin to Chaka Khan leaving Rufus. Just couldn't picture one without the other. So damn glad they reunited of late. >;-)
I saw the Brand New Heavies @ the Roxy in Hollywood like on a Monday night in the Fall of 1990. LOL - they had this enormous real elephant that was just chilling outside on the sidewalk right there on Sunset Blvd by where people were lining up to go inside.
Hello Ms. Davenport! I remember doing a show with you all way back in 1992. I was the lead guitarist for a band named Blackmale! from South East Sandiego
The words!!! I'm 48 and remember jamming to this in high school and in college. I miss music like this. ❤️ LOVE!!!
51
I'm 37. This group proves that music can move through and captivate generations.
you must be 48 now?!
N'Dea Davenport is a Legend!!
This sound will never die. It's way too good to die. 90's forever!
& 60's homage!
this was one of the funkiest groups of all time !!!! bring them back I miss this kind of organic music
Please bring back Acid Jazz......
Try the Canadian group Four80East
Soooooooooooooo agree
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Damn straight!
Still Fresh in 2024🔥
I was 13 or 14 when this came out. I'm 46 now, and it's just as great as it was then. As a matter of fact, I think it's better. Much, much better, because I've lived.
I remember this!.. 20+ years and Im *still* a huge Heavies fan!
Mahlercougar I got hooked after hearing “ Never Stop” in 1990. BNH led me to becoming a jamiroquai fan also
Older but the same we need this right now
So am I 🎉
Original vocalist Jaye Ella Ruth sang this at my wedding in 1996.One of the best memories of the day.
This video was shot in my dads studio in Fulham London, the studio was underground, you could hear the trains underneath you at times
1990 was an amazing year for us kids back then. It was amazing going clubbing and dancing to this cool song. love it.
this is the best version of dream come true--that rhythm guitar just blows my mind!
i had no idea there was another version until today when i was looking for bass covers and found the 92 version and said what the hell?! :)
It’s so many versions this one is like the 5th version
Its not
Her iconic ”be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-beiiiia” is not used in this version. Thats the best part of the song
I am 54 and I appreciate this band and their vibe. N'Dea Davenport what a Powerful Soulful Sistah!
Sin duda los mejores Dos grupos de acid jazz, Brand, new heavies y el grupo Incógnito, lo mejor de lo mejor, saludos a todos los que como yo disfrutan esta super música 🎶, saludos a los Brand New Heavies 😁👋
Acid Jazz 4 life baby! Yes, we need an Acid Jazz revival!
Wow, I haven't seen this in over 30 years! Thanks for uploading!!
This is just pure real music. Real singing along with real instruments being played. This sound will never grow old!!!!
this song is awesome. The guitar riff and the bass line just doin it. And those funky horns. They need more music like this NOW!!!
N'Dea Davenport - i love the way she roles, she looks and moves cool in the vids, all that shakin and smooth singing, class...
The guitar player from this band is one of the most solid rythym guitarists I've ever heard. (And I've played guitar for 20 years)
Sheer magic, one of the most beautiful songs ever written imho.. 💛💛💛💛💛
They are so authentic. I never get tired of them.
OMG! I LOVE THIS VERSION! ITS 2021 AND THIS IS STILL AWESOME TO JAM TO!
Gotta give the Brits love. Because they was always looking for the soulful sounds.
Acid Jazz en estilo puro..Que grandes eran los '90..y que recuerdos..
Love their sense of fun and upbeat music
THIS BAND IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD.
Everything! From the music arrangements, the dancing, the vocals, the festive atmosphere....this is what music is supposed to be about!!!
If this had come out in the 70s it would have been a hit. So much soul.
never get bored of this song!!! love you n'dea davenport, please please come to Indonesia!
I remember BET was the first in the states to air this video. A payday later I bought the CD. I wasn't disappointed. TUNE!
This song is truly a classic!! 🥰🥰🥰 The sound is making a comeback too!
I was hooked after hearing this is a record shop, 1990.
i miss them. that horn section is SICK! love love love
This band was fantastic
I just love to start off the day with this song! It makes you feel like you can do anything!
Jan and Andrew and Simon have the funkiest grooves!! I love listening to Jan in All of their songs. Such varied funkiness he does on the drums! I like how this song has a slight 70s hint with the guitar and horns!!!😍😀

Excellent analytical comment!
If you believe in such a thing, unfortunately we won't know if these children find out the hard way or the greatest way..

90's Long live acid jazz!
Fantastic voice and music galactique
Oh yeah-- this is the more jazzy, early Brand New Heavies! My favorite era of the band (thus far, that is)!
Great performance...n dea Davenport the Brand New heavies fantastic sound !!! 😎🇬🇧♥️🇬🇧
I really like those kinds of 90's videos. Just the band, playing and nothing else...
BNH got the groove.
this is a hot track right here. catchy, sublime, uplifting.
there were two versions with two different singers prior to this one! the jay ella ruth version will always be my favourite!
You're correct but N'Dea 's version will always be the best. She was the perfect singer for BNH.
@@svh01 Almost like she was born SPECIFICALLY for BNH.
The video & song is perfect imagery of enjoying life..
Generationally, it affected me a lot. It's one of the early bands that was strongly conscious of "groove".

I'm 47 love that song!!!!
Great band, love it!.

So funk ❤

This was when ‘the Heavies’ were awesome!
Was used as the main theme in a very popular Swedish humor show about a radio station. "Nile City" (105.6). Cool to finally hear the full version.
Ichinin kåtast i Kungsängen
Och här är Ulf Dageby med Whipped Cream.
Kaninballe!
64 & still running it, 😎👌
Brillant, best version!
i absolutely love the bass sound! wicked!!
Very little music in the last 30 years sounds "timeless". This does. It could have been done last month/year. Love these guys.
They were the best and N'Dea made it so.
Jim Wellman was a founding member & wrote "Stay This Way"...has done some interesting things after The Heavies... look him up...
I saw the Brand New Heavies @ the Roxy in Hollywood like on a Monday night in the Fall of 1990. LOL - they had this enormous real elephant that was just chilling outside on the sidewalk right there on Sunset Blvd by where people were lining up to go inside.
I was going clubbing 2 nights avweek when this came out. Always got my hyped up when this came on.
This is gold
Gives me strong 90s feelings. . . in the best way.
I'll always love the BNH with N'Dea!
Real music...... Heaven
Hello Ms. Davenport! I remember doing a show with you all way back in 1992. I was the lead guitarist for a band named Blackmale! from South East Sandiego
Lascelles Gordon and Jim Wellman must be kicking themselves now that the brand new heavies went on to be so successful.
It never left. Incognito, Reel People, jazzanova, and many others
