I have been building my PC gaming set up for nearly a year now and the last thing I finally needed was a decent controller. I've spent the last 7 hours looking at reviews and trying to find the right one and every time I came close to finding something there would be a fault with it. I kept coming back to buying the standard Xbox controller and I couldn't bring myself to do it. 2024 and they want you to put AA batteries in a controller and then buy the dongle separately, also everyone was saying they only last a year. Thankfully I came across your channel along the way and when you started reviewing this controller I knew it was the one, thanks for the help. I used your affiliate link in the description to buy the controller.
@@WhatsHappeningOnUA-cam Man... See, you are the embodiment of why I started doing UA-cam in the first place. I've been in the exact position that you were in and I wanted to help people find the support they needed when indulging in gaming tech. You made my day, probably made my week in fact. It sincerely struck a cord in me, thank you very much for your kind words and for the gesture of using the affiliate link. Most of all, I wish you happy gaming with the rig you've built and for that last year to finally come to fruition. Happy holidays, enjoy friend!
Hey, thanks for replying. Building my own rig would be beyond my technical expertise (You're talking to the person who struggled to buy a controller) but here is what I have now. A Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptop with a Nvidia 4090 graphics card, Meta Quest 3 headset, KIWI H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap, AMVR PU Leather Facial Interface, Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS, some other leads and bits and pieces, and of course the GameSir Tarantula Pro Controller. It took me a year due to the cost of everything, and I hit a few other problems as well. With the Black Friday sales on I said now is the time to finish it. I bought Half Life Alyx and Skyrim VR as they looked like the best VR games out there especially when modded. When I bought the laptop I was thinking of using it to start my own UA-cam channel where I interview other UA-camrs and ask them about their own channels. I won't shill it here, but if you click on my profile you'll see the one short clip I made. I got side tracked from this when I started up a new job, and I really want to try and have a go at it after Christmas. Let me know what you think.
I can see how it is gimmicky. As was gyro on wiimotes back in the day! Ultimately, it's one more tool that gamers can rely on to improve our general experience but I don't expect mass adoption any time soon and I think we'll more likely have buttons in front of mini screens before we have brands implement this system but dang is it ever so cool to see in real time ahahah!
Right now, the mobile app let's us only map controller buttons but indeed, that would be a FANTASTIC MMO mouse, let's hope GameSir hears our plea and can give us a robust PC software solution!
@@fasihzubair481 A Japanese YTuber tried the controller with the PC software in Chinese language, under advance mapping you can bind the keyboard or mouse to the buttons.
The keyboard input with extra buttons is literally the only reason Id get it, along with the symmetrical joysticks. It makes it really good for emulation couch gaming. Having dedicated buttons for save states, loading, speed toggle etc. Obviously, the hall effects, etc, are a major plus.
I wasn't even aware that the buttons can be mapped to input but another viewer let me know that OldManRob, another UA-camr got the software working. I'll have to set this up for my own gaming sessions!
I don't really have a problem with the joysticks being simetrical or not but when it comes to the D-Pad I can't stand the way is located in asimetrical controllers. This definitely is a great option for me.
Thank you so much for highlighting on all the ways you can hold it comfortably and efficiently. That's one of the biggest sells that people don't realise.
Totally my guy! I can't pretend to utilize these tools in all the different ways that they can be used, but I love to challenge myself and look at a product while thinking outside the box, what can it do, that I won't necessarily use, but others will. I'm glad it resounded with you! 😊
Well, take it from me, I am glad to have delivered. Not every product can be as great but when I stumble on one, it gets me all giddy to be able to share how positive the experience has been! If you have the opportunity, do let me know your impressions when you get it!! Happy Gaming!
as someone who plays a lot of old school games and rpgs and action games i find myself at home with symetrical design. it provides very little effort to my tumb to travel between stick and dpad. and to see a controller like this has a dock?? im sold! just hope the dpad isnt too thumb soring....
I think they did a good job with that, especially considering that it is not membrane, which I find lends itself better to comfort overall. That's why I am convinced that it's the same system they adopted with the Kaleids, a tactile button with a membrane over it that gives it a simili-mechanical style. It's surprisingly useable for long durations, like I would expect a membrane button to, but not so much a tactile one. Thanks for engaging!
- the rgb face buttons are sick. -Dpad needs to be much better for fighting games -back buttons need to be much lower. -add secondary bumpers (3 and 4)
Thank you very much for giving me your vote of confidence! It means a lot and I hope to continue to deliver valuable content on fun gaming peripherals! Cheers :)
@@GameTechTalk some of it won't change because I don't like how they use their logo in some products. The SNES inspired X2s looks very nice but the G8 has a logo right below the joystick, it looks very out of place, and that's also true for more controllers. The Tarantula kind of looks like a pirate Dual Shock from the 2000s. I like the Xbox ones because they don't have the extra logo, they look normal. If you ignore the logo in the center and the 5 buttons around it, the T3s looks nice. Anyway, that's how I feel about their design... hahahaha...
@@theSUBVERSIVE I own a Gamesir X2 Pro and a Gamesir Nova Lite. They actually look pretty sleek and minimalist, so not all of their controllers are fugly. Sadly, this Tarantula Pro actually is hideous.
As someone who plays a lot of switch and gamepass on Samsung tv I feel like it’s absolutely perfect because of that face button switch feature. That’s amazing.
It's a feature I totally understand why some people think is unnecessary but I do like to have a controller with a layout that matches the platform/game I'm playing, as I believe you do too! 😊 To me, it's a really cool thing that I am happy this controller can do!
Very based! Honestly, I just can't get over the happiness that I feel for symmetrical gamers. Too little options on the third party market and for this one to be this well designed? Wow!
I just bought this one yesterday, amazing controller although the software is a bit clunky and hard to find. There's also a weird bug when updated to firmware 2.4 where the joysticks and other buttons won't work, good thing we can revert it to previous firmware which I'm currently stuck at 2.2 firmware right now.
You got what you need and that makes my gamer heart happy! Still, smart on you to keep a eye on GameSir, this brand is constantly shocking the world with their releases, they are one to put on the radar for sure!
Hopefully HORI COMMANDER can come up with a better D-Pad for PS5. This controller is very intriguing. Game sir & 8bitdo are breaking the limits, I love it!!
@@abrahamfigz6585 I had never heard of this controller, are you referring to that one? stores.horiusa.com/fighting-commander-octa-for-playstation-5-playstation-4-and-windows-11-10/
Dammit man, I have too many controllers! 😂 I love my Flydigi Vader 3 Pro, and it works great for PC, Switch and Steam Deck, which are my primary use cases, so I think I'm gonna stick with that for now, but man, this is tempting. What a nice looking pad.
Just ordered Tarantula PRO (dock version) and G8+ from GeekBuying for 115$ total! Can't believe what deal I struck! Can't wait to try them! Coming from G4S and G4 PRO! 💪🏻
I'm early for a change. I really like this controller. GameSir told their engineers to go wild and they certainly did. I hope to see that innovative face button letter rearranging unit trickle down to their telescopic controllers. Honestly, I'd like to see a telescopic Tarantula.
Big dog, great video, amazing info, everything I wanted to know about this roller. I hope you have 100k subs by next year! I've had about 8 Scuffs, 2 BB, and a couple of off the shelf random rollers. As of late, I went with the Victrix Gambit (Xbox 500hz) and then I THOUGHT the Victrix Pro BFG PS5 version was going to be faster...only to find out it's LOCKED at 125hz and you can't change it. lol So I'm back on the Gambit for now and I will be switching to this tomorrow!
MY GUY!!! You were literally the last comment of a long long LONG line of comments I just replied to. What a way to end what was literally a couple hours of replying to people. Your words lit a flame, I could reply to a hundred more with comments like yours. I hope you have a blast with the Tarantula Pro, let me know what you think if ever you have the chance when you get it. Cheers and thank you!
Right, this seems to be a thing that has been extremely persistent with GameSir controllers lately and if I'd be a betting man, I'd put my money on this having to do with the fact that they are in a persisting licensing deal with Microsoft. They probably have to respect certain agreements to not damage that relationship, which I can absolutely understand why they would prevent any risks of doing so.
And since you can make the colors of your choice on the buttons, you can make the colors on the Switch mode of the face buttons as following - Y = Green X = Blue B = Yellow A = Red
@@chanderule605 Could be just a question of liking that design, or I could see myself building the scheme when using the controller on a SNES game, just for fun you know? Takes 15secs and it just adds a bit of whimsical and nostalgia, I say do it if you can!
This feature is groundbreaking. I don't expect the adoption to necessarily be super high but I most certainly hope we'll get to see this more and more in the future!
I might be in love with this controller... I was first drawn in by the thumbsticks being on the bottom, but then you showed that it can switch from Xbox/pc to Nintendo. Also, the fact that it is using TMR sticks, which I like a lot(I got to be a beta tester of the gulikit replacement TMR sticks for xbox and DS5 controllers) is another bonus. this is most likely will be a future purchase for me.
Oh dang ok, I didn't know you were into controllers that much Donald! Tester uh? Nice!! And yeah, this is one of those that just has a lot to offer, especially when considering value. I don't like to say that too often because I don't want to give companies ideas but I would have totally understood if that product was priced higher, that says a lot I find.
@@GameTechTalk LOL, it sounds more glamorous that it was. That beta test was being on the right Discord server(Aknes which are 8bitdo and gulikit resellers on Amazon) at the right time. Which funnily enough I found from the same place I found your channel (retro handhelds podcast) They were asking for people to try out those new thumb sticks, I had an Xbox and a PS5 controller, both with drift, so I volunteered. The sticks came in, and I learned how to solder them in and had to fill out a few google doc questioners and post photos on discord. I got free TMR sticks and learned a new skill (I now buy drifting controllers on eBay and put TMR sticks in them and resell them from time to time, though this only happened a month or 2 ago)
@@DonaldWyman Oh dang! Yeah, I hang around with the RH crew, amazing people! In fact, Aish recommended that I reach out to AKNES to see if they want to supply controllers for review, I'm just so busy with a backlog but I might get around to that when my schedule clears a bit. Congrats on having embraced the skill learning process. Soldering is a lot more scary than it is hard, too often people let the fear stop them from even trying! Cheers my guy!
@@MuseR. What? Where is that coming from? Either I misunderstood your comment, or you misunderstood mine? Wtf you on about being weird? I'm saying I'm happy for people that love this layout that they finally got a controller they can appreciate. Get down your horses big guy, stop looking for fights where there are none.
I bought this with zero reviews so far on amazon in my country, went in totally blind and I can never go back to another controller. I immediatly miss it, you can remap every button to keyboard/mouse binds now via PC. I would appreciate an extra 2 back paddles though. Thats what I always missed with 8bitdo but at the moment the extra 4 front buttons are pulling their weight on mmos. I dont know but the front camo plate feels a bit like metal?
Thanks! If this product is successful, I would bet that GameSir will come up with a similar (or inspired) design. I just don't know that wireless would be a thing, that seems to be the biggest issue.
@tally.klecko lisencing on anything Xbox related bumps up the price almost 2 fold at times. It's really unfortunate there aren't any good controllers on Xbox really, and I feel your pain as I used to play on Xbox. I switched to PC and bought a gamsir t4k unfortunately the build quality wasn't great, and it ended up breaking in a few months of use.
I've been waiting for the longest time for a PS style controller, got redpilled to give in to asymmetrical style and order the Gamesir Nova just yesterday. Man I wish this video was released yesterday 😭😭😭
Ahhh I'm sorry. The good news is the Nova is an AMAZING Switch controller, checks all the boxes. The Tarantula is a great EVERYTHING controller, so hopefully it won't hurt to have them both! 😊
I saw on Reddit that there’s an update for the dongle to allow 1000hz polling wirelessly, I hope you can include that as part of your test routine if you are gonna test the wireless input latency
Looks superb, but not having a pc software is a dealbreaker for me. I've been using the vader 4 pro for 4 months now, and I love it, one of the reasons is how good the software is.
Hmm... So, personally, the d-pad on the 2C was a step back for me personally. I'd say I prefer the D-pad on the Tarantula but I can admit that the diagonal specifically is irritating if you play games where those are often required. Because it has no center pivot and short travel tactile clicks, you can't "pre-press" the diagonal, if that makes sense. That is not a problem on the 2C but I would say the 2C is not as reliable for input commands in my testings, it should be better when talking about the diagonals too. I'd still favor the Tarantula because the problem is more better addressable, but you have to intentionally move your finger to the adjacent arrow, you can't just twist your thumb, if you know what I mean.
@@GameTechTalk thanks so much for the detailed feedback on both of these. I’m no sure which to get at this point. Right now I have a couple of Dualsense controllers and one Xbox One controller. Not the newer one for the Series X with the updated D pad. So I’m looking for something different.
@@GameTechTalk May I ask one thing? If there is no pivot point under the D-pad, Is there any probability if you press too hard and it goes to neutral because of all 4 direction input?(please excuse my bad english) Pivot-less D-pads sometimes have this issue. Thank you.
@@craaaash By neutral, do you mean that all d-pad inputs get cancelled out because all four get pushed at once? If so, no it doesn't do that, it stays stuck to the firm axises pushed first. I also think for the issue that you are referring to to occur, the d-pad would have to be split, which it isn't. It's a solid piece so you can't tilt say to the right, without first release the tilt to the left, if that makes sense.
For the time being, I would favor the Tarantula Pro, though I still think the Vader 4 Pro is a phenomenal controller. With that said, I still have a perspective to share, Vader 4 Pro is more likely to be an improve controller that shares many of the things you already know from most controllers on the market. Whereas the Tarantula is a controller that feels nice sure but also because it pushes the envelope of what gaming controllers mean in 2024, where the landscape is and where it's heading. It's really a statement piece from GameSir as far as I am concerned.
Exactly yeah, it stands (if memory serves me right) for Tunnel Magnetic Resonance, or something like that. Basically, it's still the same conceptually, a magnet moves and the reading is captured but my understanding is that the way said magnet moves causes less power to be used, but also for a more persistently linear outcome to occur. The drift still is extremely unlikely, though not outright impossible. Hall-effect drift is likely to occur because the magnet lost its power but that can take more than a century so the likeliness is small unless it's a defect out of the box.
That's actually something I like, I can easily push it with both hands to adjust both sides but I get what you are saying, it's an adjustment for sure.
That's changed actually, there is a creator by the name of OldManRob that covered it and I received confirmation from GameSir that an english app is on the way. I'll make a follow-up video in due time!
i saw many video of yours and you never came close to 28k score , those TMR sticks are kicking ass . the mechanical AB to BA switch is just a gemmic , the membrane face button is what killed it for me , cuz i like mechanical buttons and i am not going back to use membrane again. I think for most controllers there are two common points for failure / wear and tear , the sticks start being unaccurate or they become physically not able to return to the center , the second is the face buttons , they become unresponive over time.
Bruh, you can't out me like that in public! 😭😂 Indeed, you are absolutely right, I knew these tests would be useful to someone and seems like you've been paying attention so thank you!! I hear you, and it's perfectly fair to know what you want. What I'm hoping is that this is a "benchmark" for GameSir to go even deeper and eventually release an assymetrical design with an even more "competitive" centric approach.
@@GameTechTalk i tried only the Gamesir G7 HE, and i played 90% of God of war Ragnarok with it , till the controller started disconnecting all the time and i had to return it. After that i kept playing with my about 1.5 years old Series 2 elite control, and man that elite really sucks in comparison, i was noticeably pulling the moves with more delay. Meanwhile i ordered Vedar 4 pro from Alibaba and still waiting. The Veder 4 pro checks so many boxes for me, and i am looking for the perfect controller with TMR sticks next after seeing you pull that 28k score , let's hope we see something soon from gamesir ✌️
Seems like it would be alright for some pc games. The button placement seems terrible for convenience imo. My preferred button placement would 2 buttons up by the bumpers like the razer pro controllers and 4 buttons on the back of the controllers.
Fair enough, those top bumpers do have some pretty loyal gamers locked in and there is nothing wrong with knowing what you like! I don't expect to start playing in "Tarantula Mode" necessarily but I got give credit where credit is due, there is "vision" in this product and they might have just unlocked a new set of loyal gamers that will swear by their layout.
Honestly, I think that is the next step to have swappable buttons. I doubt much companies will copycat GameSir's system. It's quite a clever one and something I feel most companies wouldn't want to spend the cost for.
Wait wait, I just want to be sure, you said KingKong2 right? Because if so, you are in for A TREAT!!! You wouldn't even have to look at this controller, there are plenty since KK2 Pro released that would give you a drastic jump in stick quality. Not that KK2 is not good, it's great, but when they released, there was not enough data on hall-effect sticks and what players want/need. The curve was not ideal, the resolution either, hall-effect sticks have come a long way in short time. So yes, this would be a massive jump from KK2 to this. Night and day.
im going from asymmtrical for this controller, ill have nostalgia at least i havent played a playstation since the service crash on ps3. at first i was going to get another controller but i wanted to match my pc rbg lights, and this was the perfect option with the option to switch to nintendo style which will be good for when i want to play old games like castlevanias and such
If ever you get the chance, let me know your thoughts when you get it. Honestly, I think this is THE controller to try symmetrical again, this or the Dualsense. But this one is whimsical and fun because it does so much and so differently! I hope you have lots of happy gaming with it!
I really, and sincerely hope they are working on a PC software solution because as great as it already is, that would skyrocket it to a whole other level, all we need is a software to fully utilize this thing on PC. Fingers crossed!
If your goal is to have a great d-pad and great everything else, I'd say my top pick is the Blitz2. If your goal is 100% great d-pad and specifically fighters only, the Turtle Beach Stealth Pivot is such a killer "fighting gamepad" solution. But it's not as great for everything else, not bad, just, there is better.
Man i really want this controller. PS was my childhood so symetrical controller is always the one for me. But i already own 8bitdo pro 2 so i'm gonna wait a bit more before purchasing. 1 question though do gamesir sell travel case for this controller?
I do not believe they do at the moment but I think a Dualshock 4 case would most likely work if it's not too "perfect fitting". Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers!
There you go! I'm left-handed so I grew up forced to find ways to be ambidextrous, I like the thought of people pushing boundaries to expand what and how we can do things. With that said, I also completely understand wanting to find comfort, especially when indulging in entertainment.
It's definitely a smaller profile than Xbox controllers. If you held a Dualshock 4, it's really reminiscent of that one but just slightly bulkier, emphasis on "slightly".
@@g.e.f2855 I’d say « mostly PS4 ». Like, all that tech cramped into it needs extra room but if you would’ve put this in my hands with my eyes closed, I would’ve assumed it’s a controller for the PS4, it’s similar enough to believe so.
V4P is much better imo, these new releases are tempting, but none of them have hit the mark, except maybe the G6 Pro Star Flash and BigBig Won Blitz 2. This T3 Pro doesn't even have a wireless 1000Hz polling rate, nor does it have a fully functioning app in English.
@@StardustLegacyFighter I was debating whether purchasing the V4P or the G6 Pro star flash, I wanted that 2000mhz polling rate, but having to switch and calibrate joysticks if I wanted to change the stiffness of the joystick seemed like a hazzle, plus the V4P has 6 additional buttons, C,Z and the 4 back buttons, but I guess for the time being V4P is the best option for games that require additional buttons, at least until there is an app for this Tarantula on PC.
The good news @vanessamaldonado5877 is that the Vader 4 Pro is a phenomenal controller. But from where I stand, the Tarantula is genuinely a contender to be top controller of 2024, it's that good. Also, yes the Tarantula Pro does have 1000hz wireless since the freshly released update. GameSir is on a freaking mission, y'all don't understand. @@GameTechTalk Yeah, this is why I regret buying the V4P 1 week before this one, I really could use 9 remapable buttons, plus I really liked the KK3 semi-HD rumble, which the V4P doesnt have.
I gotta say, I disagree with you finding it unfortunate the software isn’t on windows! I think it’s amazing it’s mainly on mobile! As a MacOS user who doesn’t own a pc, I was shook Fr when you ‘now lets look at the software’ and I saw a portrait screen recording of your phone lol. I never even thought of that as being a solution for these kinds of applications. This has sold me on buying this, like asap. I game 100% on my MacBook these days. Originally I gave away my consoles for the sake of only ever using my switch, then eventually even that was gone with the recent evolutionary boom of gaming on Mac. Being able to run every switch game in my Mac, and finding ways to port majority of windows software and games to run on it as well has been a dream come true for me. Except for… figuring out a decent controller I can get that’s not gonna essentially software lock me into having a feature rich controller act only as your barebones basic Xbox 360 controller. It’s sucked until now, thank you so much
It's changed since, the app is now officially on PC. That said, as someone that edits on Mac (I like to dip my toes in many corners of tech), I can understand how pleasant it is to find support for the devices you wish to use and indeed, using an iPhone/iPad with their app, you should be able to make tweaks on-the-fly too! I do wish the iPhone/iPad app was available on MacOS but that's not the end of the world as there is a solution regardless. Cheers! :)
I still love the Vader 4 Pro for many reasons, it holds up very well, especially with those 6 mappable buttons, adjustable tension and 12-bit sensor but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that this feels like a genuine upgrade to the Vader 4 Pro. Two great controllers really!
They are called the Mobapad M6-HD, I have a review on my channel. These are considered to be the best joycons on the market by many, I included, though they are a tad noisy.
They're amongst the brands that can effectively rival 1st party quality controllers. And in some scenarios, they vastly VASTLY outperform 1st parties. They really are good, no great, and quite reliable. This company easily has way more hits than misses in all honesty.
So nice video, as usual very informative. But man... now we need the ultimate comparison between the G8 Plus VS Moba HD VS Tarantula Pro for the undisputable Nintendo Switch / Android Controller Championship. Polling Rates, D-Pads, Latency - Lag tests, etc. Make it epic man !!
I can't promise but I'll consider it. It's all about finding a process that lends itself well to the one I already got. If I can do that, I'll get it figured out. Cheers!
I want this bad!, I prefer the extremely rare Nintendo Wii-U Stick layout but this is next best, especially for fighting games, those back buttons beside the L and R are what Ive been wanting for years!
Oh yeah that layout is rare af but I do also enjoy it! I'm so happy for so many gamers that this controller exists, I know there has been a lot of gamers out there waiting for this form-factor to have more options, to have one this well built is a massive W for the community!
"So here I am in Mario Odyssey, and as you c-..... 😐🫤😅 So here I am in Monkey Ball...." 😂😂 too good hahaha Great review too man. I wish I'd seen this before preordering the new Nyxi Master P1, but oh well..
@@ianperesmusic Oh, the P1, I might review that one soon. I like NYXI, they have a good release pace and I honestly think they are trying hard to break out of the mold and come up with their own designs (rather than rebranding and reselling). I think they have the potential to grow bigger. I'm hoping the P1 will be decent, I don't expect groundbreaking but it doesn't have to do everything either, it just has to be good and greatly priced. Cheers, thanks for the kind words!
This controller is amazing... BUT has only one huge problem for gaming laptop users like me: can't pair to PC Bluetooth in XBox(XInput) mode :( Only BT/DS4 or BT/NS. You're forced to dongle or wired connection for XBox(XInput) mode.
That can easily be addressed with a translation layer though. Look up ViGem, that'll take your DS4 connection and spoof your controller has an Xbox one. Just like what Steam Input can do but for your entire operating system rather than just Steam titles. An easy way to get that done would be to download Handheld Companion. Cheers!
Ahh I like your style! I think the more we celebrate options, the more we'll get some and I believe for gamers that options are crucial to better enjoy our games!
Hey, thank you for the review. I have a question: I've always used a ds4 controller and I play claw mostly fps games and I was looking for a new controller with low input delay and durable sticks, do you think this one can be a good choice? ps: The ps5 controller layout is too big for my hands
I believe that is your dream controller right there. I know people claim the latency is not the best and look, is there better? Yes, but at this point, I think the argument can be made that 10ish ms is a great tradeoff for all the amazing features that this controller has. At least that's my personal opinion.
this controller is so sick. only thing im waiting for now is direct PS and Xbox support along with everything on this controller. This controller can do COD mobile right? thats the only other thing I would make sure it has before picking up.
@@gabrieldawa6221 It can definitely be used on PS5 with a proper converter adapter but out of the box, I don't think we'll see a properly Sony licensed controller anytime soon. So if this is something you actively want, you may have to take matter in your own hands.
I feel like putting a PS5 controller on 8000hz makes the controller feel so much better than any other controller aiming wise, it is something I feel doesn't get enough attention. I am very intrigued with these TMR stick I just am afraid it still wont beat a stock or modded ps5 controller.
I always read that overclocking controllers past 1000hz would cause signal losses and jitters, is that your experience or maybe it does happen but so its so rare that it doesn't outweight the benefits? So, I've laid hands on 3 TMR controllers so far and there is already inconsistencies in my experience. In the sense that calibration will still be extremely important but I also believe companies will get better over time. With that said, I always praised GameSir because they calibrate better than pretty much anyone in the hall-effect space and let me tell you, they did not get lazy with their TMR stick. This thing is the real deal.
@@mohamedbhasith90 Get me no wrong, the Vader 4 Pro is an amazing controller but I think GameSir wanted to stick a baton in Flydigi's wheels with this one and as far as I am concerned, they have and then some. It's really one of a kind and maybe in a year from now, all the "elite" controller brands will have a counter but as much as Apex 4 and Vader 4 Pro dominated the third-party controller space by offering deliciously great controller, GameSir was always dominators in other price brackets, them entering the elite market with such a powerful offering is sheer dominance and I'm here for it.
I hope the d-pad and controller stick is switch and able to connect to GameCube Bluetooth adapter wich able to play classic games on modern controllers.
Yes, they have these feature pretty much standard on every GameSir controller since hmm... The Galileo G8 I think? You can swap the left stick and d-pad for full compatibility and to enable you to play whichever game the way you want to play them. They cover all grounds its crazy!
Easy to press, good stuff for fighters, but also not uncomfortable for platformers, been playing most of my UFO 50 countless hours with this gamepad, no issues here.
That's a great way to describe them yes. They are much closer to potentiometers in feel and progression, while retaining the benefits of hall-effect such as no drift and higher precision, but also adding some more like utilizing less battery for operations.
Man, I love the asthetic and 1000 hz plus a couple back buttons. I'm wondering how the TMR sticks will be for Rocket League. For shooters I like 4 back buttons so I don't have to claw but for $10 more than a Duel Sense I might just pick this Turatula up for a good all around controller.
I wouldn't know for Rocket League, my knowledge of that games is exclusive to watching trick shots on UA-cam (it's soooo good). But for everything else that I tested, these sticks are on-par with ALPS as far as I am concerned, they deliver extremely reliable performance, what I expect to happen is exactly what does.
That's quite challenging to answer but to me, it's the Binbok Ultra Pro. That controller is incredibly reliable, especially for its d-pad and the price is quite low.
Seeing as it is spoofed as some of the more popular Steam Input controllers, I would expect a full support but to be sure, I've made note of it and I'll address it in my follow up video. Thanks, cheers!
So after using the 8bitdo pro2 for like *a good while* ive gotten really used to the sort of "playstation" layout. Mostly cause I tend to prefer the D-pad. If im gonna be using the other layout I want it to just straight up be a gamecube controller. Just how I do. Of course, using the Pro-2 so much its a little worse for ware, so ive been wanting to buy a new one. As ive been looking at this controller it has just about everything I would want. The d-pad sound great (and honestly, I feel if you are going to make a playstation style controller you simply MUST have a good d-pad) there's the sort of digital trigger stops so when I use it on the switch it works but I also have analogue for when im doing that, and of course even the button layout swaps. This thing is freaking perfect.
Yup, and depending on just how much you prefer d-pads, that left stick and d-pad swapping feature might exist exactly for you. Which you can quickly activate/deactivate with a quick shortcut. If ever you get a chance to let me know your feedback if you do get it, I'd love to hear it. Cheers!
29,000s is currently my top on controller, which was achieved off-camera with the Tarantula. I've had controllers as low as the 15,000s. Usually, good to great controllers are in the 20,000+ with varied results.

No Prime Day deal. Boo! Will keep an eye on it for the TMR you are raving about. Next maybe this TMR will be added next on the Gamesir Telescopic controller Russ was raving about.
great video. Will buy this controller. There are so few options for Playstation Stick-layout Controllers on the market. Whats unfortunate is that there is no way to set Windows Macros, like F12 for Screenshots in Steam, oder other Shortcuts. But maybe the Software will add that later.
So as it turns out, there is. GameSir has an app, they are working on releasing the english version very shortly and with the PC app, you can map keyboard keys to your controller.
If I make a quick analysis, this is effectively GameSir stepping into a market that they do not really have a foothold in. On the other hand, it is very much "GameSir-DNA" to bring other colors on their console-like controllers. So if I had to make a quick guess, they are penetrating a market without a foot in it by sending a shockwave, and I'm early with this review but give it time, opinions will come out positively about this one, I would bet on that. That shockwave is for multiple reasons, speaking to an underserved market (symmetrical controllers), bringing tech we've never seen before (TMR on 12-bit + buttons moving + 9 user mappeable buttons), and all that, under a stupidly low price for what it provides, all while still keeping other components quite high in quality and feature. By having a second color, it would increase costs. If that controller is successful the way I think it could be, we'll have a new color within 3-6 months and I hope it would be an all-white!
PS5 and Switch both piggyback off of the same technology for their haptic feedback solution. You can raise the argument that Sony has a better implementation than Nintendo and we'd be in agreement but it is still the same tech. Sony's tech is also further amplified by the fact that there is a speaker used conjointly with the haptics, which further sells the illusion.
Hey,hope you are still doing well after the passing, I’ve been wanting a good controller like this that’s pretty compatible with phone clips, I wanted to get something like the gullet kk3 max, or the 8bitdo pro 2. Maybe this would be nice!
Some moments are tougher than others but I'm not the first in this situation, nor will I be the last. So I push forward for a better tomorrow and yes, I feel better today, thank you! You know the funny thing is I totally had a part addressing the lack of mobile controller adapter to attach your phone. Which is unfortunate because that is a GREAT controller for any use it supports, and that include phones. I did eventually cut that part off but what I said in it was that I imagined GameSir did not do that to not alienate their mobile controller side of their business. Because truthfully, I hate that way to play with my phone, but for that controller? I would've compromised, it's that good.
It does have gyro support, but it's like the Dualsense/Dualshock controller right? Meaning that you need a software that can address said gyro, Steam Input is great for that. As for inverting the Y axis, I am pretty sure Steam let's you do that too but I'm not 100% certain if being honest. One thing I can say for sure, GameSir does not "redirect" the gyro data like it does on the X3 Pro controller, if you seen that one.
I certainly wouldn't mind 4 but I can look past it, seeing as it has more than enough to make up for and even on a regular hold, those C1-C2 and C3-C4 buttons? They are so close, very easy to gain access to.
@@GameTechTalk Yeah i understand what your sayin. Just feel like the 4 backpaddles are some kind of backbone for pro controllers. I feel like the front buttons are useless to a fps player unless you are playin claw or smth. Would make better sense to place them behind, but thats just my opinion. i would never use the front once in a fps game cus i will need to take my thumb of the sticks wich defeats the purpose a little.
Sadly, there isn't. That controller is so versatile, and so great at everything it does, having a phone grip would've been awesome. Let's hope a clever 3D printer guru can design something because this controller certainly would deserve to have creative people create accessories for it!
@@GameTechTalkI really hope someone or gamesir themselves make a phone clip or grip for this controller. I'd like to take my switch around with this controller and by any chance, play call of duty mobile if its latency is not too noticeable or game breaking

Hi, How does the stick-feel of this controller compare to the Hex Phantom hall-effect you recently reviewed? I saw you mention the Phantom had the best stick feel you have felt, as close to a mouse feel that a controller can have at present. Is the Tarantula comparable to this, or is the Phantom another step up in responsiveness/accuracy feel. Also, is it possible to overclock the Phantom to 1000hz, and if so, does it have a positive impact on the stick feel/responsiveness/accuracy. Thank you for your detailed and relaxing to watch reviews. Appreciate the chill vibe but thorough information!
*Yes, the Phantom can be overclocked to 1000hz on PC, much like a regular Dualsense. Assuming that other elements are aligned to properly help you experience the benefits it provides, yes it should have a positive impact on everything you mentioned. As for the stick I prefer, I provided this quite elaborate response to someone who asked the same a few hours ago so I'll repaste here what I said to them. Here goes:* "Ahhh, you're asking the tough questions aren't you ahahah! 😅 I will say, right now both controllers you named are my two favorite sticks on the market. And I'll need to do more testing with the Blitz 2 so please, don't include that in my opinion. They both have qualities of their own. The HexGaming Phantom HE (it is HE, they confirmed it in my comments), feels shockingly good. It's flabbergasting to say the least. It's also an 8-bit sensor. Here's the thing with the Phantom HE, they managed to truly surpass the ALPS sticks found on stock Dualsense and Edge, which are phenomenally calibrated. And I really meant what I said when I explained how it feels like an extension of my brain, it's quite a unique feeling and maybe it'll die down over time but it's such an awesome experience, especially as an enthusiast who actively observe these nuances. With that said, the TMR on the Tarantula is a testament to how skilled GameSir is. GameSir controllers have the ability to calibrate sticks about as good as 1st party manufacturers as far as I am concerned. Paired with 1000hz native and the technological benefits that TMR have? It's truly something else. So sincerely, not that I want to be a politician or anything but I can't say which one I love the most, because they are both magnificent in their own rights. One because of how brilliant it is at stock configuration and the other because of how "tailor-made" that it can be, I never had sticks as tailor-made as I have with the Phantom, everyone should experience that at least once."
@@GameTechTalk I have another question if you could lend me the time to answer, I would greatly appreciate it! How does the stick feel of the Tarantula compare to the Vader 4 pro? I have just recently received the Vader 4, and am a little disappointed in how the sticks feel. They do seem to be more accurate/sharper than the standard Dual-Sense that I am used to using, but they just feel very floaty and lack the firm sense of feedback that I get from my Dual-Sense. How do the sticks on the Tarantula compare to the Vader 4 in terms of this floaty feel; and are they comparable to the firm feedback feel the Dual-Sense offers? I am wanting an accurate and responsive controller, with firm feelings sticks to use for fps gaming. Thank you.
@@rabbitnetwork7429 Using the tool I have to measure tension, Vader 4 Pro has from 10tgf to 90tgf depending on how you set them. The Tarantula sticks tested at 60tgf. Using the same tool still, a stock unused Dualsense tested at 70tgf. I hope this helps!

That rotating button layout is such a gimmick but so cool
I can see how it is gimmicky. As was gyro on wiimotes back in the day! Ultimately, it's one more tool that gamers can rely on to improve our general experience but I don't expect mass adoption any time soon and I think we'll more likely have buttons in front of mini screens before we have brands implement this system but dang is it ever so cool to see in real time ahahah!

I think they did a good job with that, especially considering that it is not membrane, which I find lends itself better to comfort overall. That's why I am convinced that it's the same system they adopted with the Kaleids, a tactile button with a membrane over it that gives it a simili-mechanical style. The only thing that bugs me is that you cannot use the xbox xinput mode without the dongle via Bluetooth

Thanks! If this product is successful, I would bet that GameSir will come up with a similar (or inspired) design. I just don't know that wireless would be a thing, that seems to be the biggest issue.

Hmmm this or the 8bitdo Ultimate 2C… the diagonals on the d-pad concern me though. On both this and the 2C

Hey thank you brother, as I understand, you are a "controller" aficionado too uh? I hope you have lots of fun with the Tarantula as well!
@@GameTechTalk I'm really excited to get mine
Great video. Can’t wait for the blitz 2 review. I just got mine. I was thinking of getting this one too
I gotchu! Coming Soon™
So TMR still uses magnets and wont get any stickdrift right?
Exactly yeah, it stands (if memory serves me right) for Tunnel Magnetic Resonance, or something like that. Basically, it's still the same conceptually, a magnet moves and the reading is captured but my understanding is that the way said magnet moves causes less power to be used, but also for a more persistently linear outcome to occur. The drift still is extremely unlikely, though not outright impossible. Hall-effect drift is likely to occur because the magnet lost its power but that can take more than a century so the likeliness is small unless it's a defect out of the box.
10:35 why they put turbo in the back there are so many buttons in the front? XD
I got just want the turbo feature.
That's actually something I like, I can easily push it with both hands to adjust both sides but I get what you are saying, it's an adjustment for sure.
The controller not being compatible with gamesir pc app is crappy
That's changed actually, there is a creator by the name of OldManRob that covered it and I received confirmation from GameSir that an english app is on the way. I'll make a follow-up video in due time!
@@GameTechTalk gamesir just messaged me and told me that the app is in the works
This looks amazing!
My face right? I'm sure you're talking about my face! 😅 Joking aside, yeah it's really an awesome controller!
Can you use the analog triggers and gyro at the same time?
You can!
i saw many video of yours and you never came close to 28k score , those TMR sticks are kicking ass . the mechanical AB to BA switch is just a gemmic , the membrane face button is what killed it for me , cuz i like mechanical buttons and i am not going back to use membrane again.
Agreed. I can’t play without the two buttons up by the bumpers on my apex 2
I can't wait until someone makes a controller with mini led screens behind the buttons.
Honestly, I think that is the next step to have swappable buttons. I doubt much companies will copycat GameSir's system. It's quite a clever one and something I feel most companies wouldn't want to spend the cost for.
1:50 it'll work on the ps5 if you use the p5 mate besaviour usb stick
I would hope that company reaches out, I might seek 'em out because I think that would be an interesting tool to feature from time to time.
I really like Gulikit's KingKong 2's Hall-sensing sticks due to its smoothness!
I wonder if this will also match Gulikit's smooth hall-sensing sticks?
Wait wait, I just want to be sure, you said KingKong2 right? Because if so, you are in for A TREAT!!! You wouldn't even have to look at this controller, there are plenty since KK2 Pro released that would give you a drastic jump in stick quality.
Not that KK2 is not good, it's great, but when they released, there was not enough data on hall-effect sticks and what players want/need. The curve was not ideal, the resolution either, hall-effect sticks have come a long way in short time.
So yes, this would be a massive jump from KK2 to this. Night and day.
Like to know how well you can play n64 games on switch ?
Haven't touched N64 games in a minute but I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be a deliciously fantastic experience!
im going from asymmtrical for this controller, ill have nostalgia at least i havent played a playstation since the service crash on ps3. at first i was going to get another controller but i wanted to match my pc rbg lights, and this was the perfect option with the option to switch to nintendo style which will be good for when i want to play old games like castlevanias and such
If ever you get the chance, let me know your thoughts when you get it. Honestly, I think this is THE controller to try symmetrical again, this or the Dualsense. But this one is whimsical and fun because it does so much and so differently! I hope you have lots of happy gaming with it!
With a lot of buttons hopefully they could figure out mapping for PC just like keyboard
I really, and sincerely hope they are working on a PC software solution because as great as it already is, that would skyrocket it to a whole other level, all we need is a software to fully utilize this thing on PC. Fingers crossed!
What's best d-pad you tested on a controller?
Cheers!
I'm not usually big on symmetrical layout, but this is very nice. I'm more used to it now, because I use a PS5 controller for some of the Sony games.
There you go! I'm left-handed so I grew up forced to find ways to be ambidextrous, I like the thought of people pushing boundaries to expand what and how we can do things. With that said, I also completely understand wanting to find comfort, especially when indulging in entertainment.
The leaked GameSir G7 Pro picture is the one I'm most curious about. The D-Pad on it looks weird. I hope it has 4 back rear buttons...
Fingers crossed! Saw the photo, I'm curious to see what that controller will have to be "Pro". Exciting times!
is it bigger than the xbox controller, i need something that isn't tiny
It's definitely a smaller profile than Xbox controllers. If you held a Dualshock 4, it's really reminiscent of that one but just slightly bulkier, emphasis on "slightly".
So will you notice the bulkiness when using it or will it mostly feel like a PS4 controller?
@@g.e.f2855 I’d say « mostly PS4 ». Like, all that tech cramped into it needs extra room but if you would’ve put this in my hands with my eyes closed, I would’ve assumed it’s a controller for the PS4, it’s similar enough to believe so.
@@GameTechTalk alright bro. I appreciate the info 😎
Man, F me sideways, last week I bought the Vader 4 Pro and now this one comes out, if only I had waited 1 week.
This controller is not just a controller, it's a statement piece.
Oh and also? The app is already confirmed to have an english update and the app allows to map keyboard keys to the controller. I mean... Need I say more? 🤣
Cheers! :)
How does this compare with the Vader 4 Pro?
I still love the Vader 4 Pro for many reasons, it holds up very well, especially with those 6 mappable buttons, adjustable tension and 12-bit sensor but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that this feels like a genuine upgrade to the Vader 4 Pro. Two great controllers really!
the controller looks really nice... but I'd be afraid of accidentally breaking yet another one... The video is really good. nice improvement!
Thank you very much! 😊
Unrelated question, what are those white joycons featured? 8:12
They are called the Mobapad M6-HD, I have a review on my channel. These are considered to be the best joycons on the market by many, I included, though they are a tad noisy.
I've never used game sir controllers before, how reliable are they compare to other brands? thanks
They're amongst the brands that can effectively rival 1st party quality controllers. And in some scenarios, they vastly VASTLY outperform 1st parties. They really are good, no great, and quite reliable. This company easily has way more hits than misses in all honesty.
Picked one up for $60 :) feels like this, the vader 4 pro and mambaone (the black version, lol) are kings
Definitely a sexy line-up that you've got!
Jotting it down, who knows, it might just happen at some point! Cheers :)
Very descriptive video. Thanks.
Happy to serve the community my guy, thanks for the kind words!
can you please include button and d-pad sound tests?

So here I am in Monkey Ball...."
😂😂 too good hahaha
Great review too man.
Bro called Nintendo mafia without calling them mafia.
Cheers!
I do love to order one, but low on cash. But i'm happy to see another playstation layout controller that isn't just a cheap 3rd party one
It can yes. By having bluetooth, just set it on the PS mode and you're good to go!
@@GameTechTalk wait so it works for PS5?!?
Nvm I just heard it. Does it seem as if it can be fixed in the future or are we better off waiting?
8:40 that is insane just for the sheer cool factor
I don't get tired of seeing it yet. It's really awesome!
@@GameTechTalk Hey man, this controller or vader 4 pro.. which you recommend?
Nice review. Is the d-pad easy to press or does it require a lot of actuation force?
Easy to press, good stuff for fighters, but also not uncomfortable for platformers, been playing most of my UFO 50 countless hours with this gamepad, no issues here.
@@GameTechTalk Thanks, you've helped me a lot
@@raziitm That puts a smile on my face, cheers!
What about wireless polling rate performance?
You can catch it at 24:49, cheers!
Would you say the sticks are basically a combination of Hall effect and potentiometer?
But for everything else that I tested, these sticks are on-par with ALPS as far as I am concerned, they deliver extremely reliable performance, what I expect to happen is exactly what does.
whats the best (and cheapest) d pad for fighting and platformers?
That's quite challenging to answer but to me, it's the Binbok Ultra Pro. That controller is incredibly reliable, especially for its d-pad and the price is quite low.
Does it work with steam deck ?
Seeing as it is spoofed as some of the more popular Steam Input controllers, I would expect a full support but to be sure, I've made note of it and I'll address it in my follow up video. Thanks, cheers!
Always get the dock! 😊
You know what's up!!
Cheers!
Finally someone doing aim labs and not just saying they’re theoretically great. How is 28,000 compared to other controllers?
29,000s is currently my top on controller, which was achieved off-camera with the Tarantula. I've had controllers as low as the 15,000s. Usually, good to great controllers are in the 20,000+ with varied results.
@@GameTechTalk I know it’s not an exact science but would interesting to add a spreadsheet screenshot of your aim labs score every time test a new controller

@@GameTechTalk Oh great to now. Thanks for mentioning it.
Pricy for a GameSir controller and I can see why. But why only a single design/color??
So you can't map any of the 9 programmable buttons to keybinds?
You can using a PC app, GameSir is currently working on translating it and I got confirmation that the app should release shortly.
no off market contrôler offers such haptic feedback as the regular ps5 controler.
Does it have gyro support on PC, and can it invert Y with gyro?
It does have gyro support, but it's like the Dualsense/Dualshock controller right? Meaning that you need a software that can address said gyro, Steam Input is great for that. As for inverting the Y axis, I am pretty sure Steam let's you do that too but I'm not 100% certain if being honest. One thing I can say for sure, GameSir does not "redirect" the gyro data like it does on the X3 Pro controller, if you seen that one.
I love this! And i would buy if it just had 4 backpaddles. Its a little sad they only put 2 paddles on a pro controller.
@@aawrr-q2m Fair enough
Just wish it worked with the ps5 after the update
PS5 and Series S/X have a pretty robust security system to prevent un-licensed controllers. It's not impenetrable though (thanks to converters).
Is there a phone/switch grip attachment that can work with the tarantula pro? Like something to go handheld for?
Sadly, there isn't. That controller is so versatile, and so great at everything it does, having a phone grip would've been awesome. Let's hope a clever 3D printer guru can design something because this controller certainly would deserve to have creative people create accessories for it!
@@GameTechTalkI really hope someone or gamesir themselves make a phone clip or grip for this controller. I'd like to take my switch around with this controller and by any chance, play call of duty mobile if its latency is not too noticeable or game breaking

Hi,
How does the stick-feel of this controller compare to the Hex Phantom hall-effect you recently reviewed?
Here goes:*
"Ahhh, you're asking the tough questions aren't you ahahah!
@@GameTechTalk Wow, thank you for your prompt and detailed response. I've liked and subscribed and am looking forward to the Blitz 2 TMR review!
@@GameTechTalk Great help - thank you.
Have you tested the tension of the Phantom Hall effect sticks? If so, can you let me know the results. Cheers brother!
Seeing this controller makes me wish that Valve would have partnered with GameSir instead of Hori.
🤭🤭🤭 Shots fired but hey, I am 110% in agreement!
