Kiara's whole identity ammounted to "thirst for Calli" and nothing else, it was really unconfortable to watch them when they were near each other, seeing as Calli was visibly annoyed every time she had to force herself to play that role. Thank god they act normal now, it did them both a service.
It is just a natural thing to do when you have multiple people/friend that talks multiple language. You'll automatically use the most used language you both used to each other. In Kiara-Reine's case is english. They have to conciously use japanese otherwise.
