Sun YatSen was disappointed with western power(British empire, France, Japan)refused to abandon their privileges over China in 1920.
He admired "Valdmir Lenin" because he overthrown the Czar monarchy and won the Russian civil war. Sun wrote a letter to Lenin to seek military assisstances from the Soviet Union. After Lenin died in 1924, Josef Stalin took over the task of assisstance China. Sun died in 1925 and "Chiang Kai Shek" took over the leadership of the Chinese Nationalist party. One thing many people did not know was Josef Stalin had great influences over the Chinese Nationalist party & Chinese Communist party!
Stalin was Nationalist China's biggest backer during the Sino-Japanese war until the Americans joined the war.
Dr. Sun Yat Sen was not satisfied with the social inequalities of the U.S. and U.K. and wanted for China a system with some elements inspired by socialist thinkers but then the over-all framework still based on western models. Today his economic idea could be compared to "social democracy" you see in Nordic countries a.k.a capitalism with strong social welfare. But CCP I am sure has re-written history already to say Dr. Sun Yat Sen was devoted communist.
@@rangergxi Sure! After the Nationalist army& airforce runs out of hardware in the war of attrition, Soviet weapons & warplanes were introduced in 1938. A communist country supplying weapons to an anti communist country(China) to fight another anti communist country(Japan). It was, strange enough but it was the history.
Stalin's strategy has gained big as the third party benefited from the Sino Japanese war.
Chiang Kai Shek's own son was even in the Red Army at some point
@Aka Aka Sun Yet Sen being a believer of liberal democracy isn't mutually exclusive with receiving supplies from the soviet union. You would be surprised by the amount of times politicians prioritized practical needs over ideology (refer to realpolitik).

"Mao Tsetung" was a soldier of the Chinese revolutionary army in November 1911, a month after the outbreak of the revolution and he was a volunteer.
Mao later joined the Chinese Nationalist party (KMT) and became a minor official in early 1920s, he knew "Chiang Kai Shek"(CKS)in the party. The Chinese communist party (CCP)was actually the leftwing(Farmers,Workers,Intellectuals) of the Nationalist party(KMT), CKS represents the right wing of KMT (Wealthy people, landlords, religious people). All that effort straight down the gutter when yuan was given the position of president, he later even proclaimed himself to be emperor
Yuan was not wrong over this, the people in China has no idea about what is a "Republic" and a nation without a king!
@@jagdpanther2224 I don't mean to belittle the efforts of the Tongmenghui and Sun, they toppled a century old monarchy system and brought the first ever republic to rule over the central kingdom and that's an impressive fact enough; however, it really is a shame that despite all the time Sun spent in Hawaii studying the American democratic system and his time spent in other western democracies like the English parliamentary system, the revolutionary group in its entire still fail to view the importance of the separation of power, only viewing it as important as a side foot note... As such, what Yuan said is indeed correct; however, it doesn't excuse his actions to intentionally exploit that loophole. Not only so, that man has been power hungry and shrewd ever since his early career, Yuan was the damn general that betrayed reformist Emperor GuangXu and sided with the greedily incompetent conservatives led by Cixi. He not only broke his promise to the emperor to help him, he betrayed and basically ended the Qing as the 100 days reform as well as the subsequent other reforms are thrown out after GuangXu's house arrest and later assassination. Without the reforms, the Qing never stood a chance against the later rebellions and 8 nation alliance, they also were never able to transition smoothly into a English style constitutional monarchy, which was a proposal supported by GuangXu. These actions are likely why I'll always view Yuan as a dark stain in Chinese history.
@@SuperMan-pd3kg Thanks for your comments.
I think General "Yuan" was right to betray the Manchurian empire, that has ceased a civil war at that time and bloodshed. The Manchurian empire was corrupted and hopeless. The Han Chinese just despise the privileges granted to the Manchurians since 17th century. About "Dr.Sun YatSan" he spent many years in US. or British Hong Kong but he was disappointed that tge European powers and Japan refused to give up their special privileges in China, especially Britain keep trading opium in China. "Sun" became an admirer of Lenin and the Soviet Union in 1920s and seeking the Russian's help, he became an autocratic leader but he died not long later in 1925. I hope the above will help your understanding of China in early 20th century.
