Sickle cell anemia- the red blood cell hardens and takes the shape of a sickle. These red blood cells die quickly and hence shortage of red blood cells. So oxygen is not adequately carried to different parts of body, causing anemia.
I have heard of that customized baby case in a journal and had interest to what gene editing technology is and eventually I do know about CRISPR technology. Thank you sir

This results in change in folding of the protein and the rbc which are circular, appear sickle shaped. This also reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of haemoglobin.

No we can't edit adult genome.. Some changes can be made like bonemerro transplant with genetically engineered cells but because these cells are mortal so after sometime again transplant is required
