When my dad (who passed away in 2012 at 101years old) was in his teens in the mid 1920's, his rather large family made two trips out to California in a Packard touring car on Route 66 from Indiana, I believe they came back on the Lincoln Highway for the most part. Whenever I see the VERY old buildings along the old road, I always wonder if my dad stopped there 95 years ago...he told some interesting stories that I could have appreciated more in my older age.
Hey Russ, just hopped on board with ya brother, yeah Im a map reading junkie, and a geographic loving wack-job, lol,,, i cant help it... i just am, its funny ive been all over the world, and have seen many things yet il probably never set foot in 99.5% of those places, but you sir, bring it close to home, off the beaten path, which is way cool, i like you style, throwing in the Arial shots was a brilliant move, thanks for sharing your road trips, for me its been quite educational, who knows instead of doubting il ever set foot in far off lands, perhaps I should concentrate on places we have in our own backyard... hey, now thats a thought😎,,lol.... :PS Im not making fun, Trust.ok ,, but Ive got to know...Has anybody ever told you that you sound like the actor Bruce Dern....sorry brother I had to ask lol ... a compliment to be sure..JDnHBOCCA😎
The older restaurant (Ranch house cafe) in Ash Fork use to have some really good green chile back in the day. I have not been there for a number of years, but hope they have the same cook. The new restaurant was ok, when I went there the one time.
Wife and I got a chuckle at Ash Fork. We had driven far too many miles that day and pulled in there abut nine pm completely worn out. The $29.00 motel was the first place we saw and stayed there. It was dated but clean and cost a little more than 29 with the dog but we were so tired it was ok. HOot water and good shower it was not too bad. Thanks for showing us. Stay safe and havagudun Russ.
My first roundabout scared me to death. Now we’ve got one in my tiny town but it has five crosswalks across it. Is that normal? On a dark rainy night, which is very common here, it is scary. OMG mid 90s is cool?
At 0.43 on the far left is another of those ancient Arizonian volcanoes. The rock is what's called Flagstone. Very little cutting needed. It's layered like that and breaks into natural slabs Ash Fork is a well known source of the material. Next video Jerome. Yay. That'll bring back memories for me from way back in 1993. Excellent videos Russ.
I’m heading that way tomorrow so your video was very welcome I saw the station said $2.35 on your video and I just paid $2.63 in California Not really a deal breaker

I'm looking forward to Jerome too. I remember Jerome when it really was a "ghost" town back in the 50s!

Hi Russ. A few years ago na elderly resident in Prescott very vehemently told me they pronounce it Preskit.
I’ve heard that, too...but if I don’t say Press.cot, how are they gonna know I’m not a native?
Love the video Russ! 👍😊

I live in Ft Worth/Arlington, TX area now. We're starting to get roundabouts here. They can be scary even in daylight!!
$29.00 a night! I guess at that price you have to bring your own bed bugs. Thanks for another great video.

Excellent videos Russ.
Locals pronouce it Preskitt.
I'd got a flu shot in one arm and pneumonia shot in the other. Later I left Prescott northbound. Dang roundabouts.
Travel Tip: When you're drinking in the Ash fork bar with the locals, don't call it Trash Fork!
I’m heading that way tomorrow so your video was very welcome
I saw the station said $2.35 on your video and I just paid $2.63 in California Not really a deal breaker
You'll see it down to $2.06 to $2.11. $2.35 is high.
A UA-camr is in Italy. While there she drove through McDonald's, your favorite place. 🙂
The round abouts are excessive
crookton road in the beginning
If Russ gets lost, check all roundabouts, first.
Another great drive, thanks Russ
