  • SK Long Range Match is for targets 100 yards and beyond but today I will be testing it at 50 yards to see how it stacks up against other ammo in the CZ.

You should get an eye on my Weirauch... A pound and 3/4 trigger, shooting RWS standard, riffle match or R50 do not makes a difference. Always suppressed, 330 m/sec is sub-sonic. Sub-Sonic ammo are a lost of time and money...

Thanks man!! I've learned a few things along the way! The leader as of right now is the second least expensive ammo I've tested which I think is pretty cool.

  • @boogerdog5247

Deviation in flight from supersonic to subsonic will cause vibration, flight disturbance, but by the groups, it certainly is not significant.
I had a close Boeing friend, MIT man, who spent many hours in wind tunnel tests.
I'd think, molecular compression, constriction due to temperature would be more of a factor in velocity, but, you'd have to re-run the same tests during higher ambient temperatures like summer, using the same ammo to compare velocities.
Just same, keeping it simple, I've YET to be NOT impressed with that CZ!
The guy behind the trigger isn't bad either! Both super performers! I came here for Beowulf, now I'm here for whatever is served up.
    Great job on every video!

The designation of the ammunition as long range might suggest it design was for it to have the least effect on accuracy at a specific range. It might be; it will shoot more consistent groups at longer distances than others traveling slower than the speed of sound. I have had better luck using 1200 feet per-second velocity loads at 100 yards I believe for the same reason. By the looks of your velocity results; this brand might have a lower velocity deviation than others you tested. It is common the ammo that groups best at 50-yards may not be the brand that groups best at 100-yards. It is true that shorter barrels produce higher or equal velocities as longer ones. However; longer barrels provide more spin to the bullets than short barrels. The bullet rotates one revolution in 16 inches; in a 24-inch barrel it rotates 1½ times before it exits the barrel. What you choose to believe is up to what shoots best for you. I have both and on any given day one might shoot better than the other.

Love this series! The use of the chronograph really shows the variance in velocity especially when you shot the Federal bulk, 48 fps difference from the fastest to the slowest. Most the SK's is maybe 20 fps. I have found my CZ457 Varmint MTR likes all the SK brands, but loves the SK Pistol Special. I was wondering if you would consider sorting by weight & rim thickness when you get down to your top Three competition? Keep up the good work!

This is very interesting testing Buffalo, but it leads me to a question. Is the CZ match chamber cut more conducive to Lapua/SK ammunition than Eley? SK and Lapua really owned by the same company and now made in the same factory (Nammo Group of companies and made in Schönebeck Germany) Wolf the new stuff is now made by Eley. SK is aimed at the middle tier and Lapua at the higher end. SOOOO with this information, if the channel came together to get you some high end Lapua I think we would want to see that tested? Like Lapua Xact or Lapua Midas+ 😂 ain't it great when your friends push you further down the rabbit hole 😂

You ever try shifting your point of impact, maybe one click off the center of the target? The benefit would be the center of that target doesn't change, bullet impacts don't chew it up. Depending on my reticle, I can still "bracket" between 1/2 mil marks, or just use a crosshair to stay centered, so I don't always do that.
    Good shooting as usual.

name of Kubota is unknown? Then why, I wonder, did Kubota 'jump' at the chance to loan him all that equipment to work and play with. Then he ended up, just now, buying a mid sized Excavator,.... wonder where all that money came from!
Now, superpoint43' stop and ponder this for a bit, and please don't feel that you need to take a shot at me for replying to your comment, I am merely pointing out that SK Ammunition will undoubtedly benefit from the exposure they are getting because of 'Buffalo's Outdoors' videos.

Buff......I get what you're doing. BUT.....As a Precision Rifle Enthusiast for a while, I feel bad for commenting. There are sooooo many variables to consider. My first concern is your "clean cold bore" shot. or even "fouled cold bore" shot. Alot of things change as each round is sent down range. consistency WILL change from the first shot to the 20th shot. It all depends what your barrel likes. from what im seeing.........your barrel seems to do goon on most ammo.......but as it warms up a bit (or fouled out) it seems to vary some. So.......if its a squirel hunter......it does great from the first 5 shots. Then the barrels warms up.....or....its fouled out and doesnt like it. If its going to be a MOA range toy........We have to figure out if its the heat or the fouling it doesnt like. My rifles....have a different clean cold bore shot compared to a dirty cold bore shot. And as the barrel warms up.....they all usually end up in the same place. Most of the time, barrels prefer a dirty bore and get the best consinsty that way. This is a tail chasing game that will get ya going!!!!!! Oh crap.......Im about to get called to the carpet by the Buff!!!!!! Love ya!!!! Stay safe!!

You didn't even cover the part where I am effecting the results simply by doing the tests. I am sure I have gotten a better feel for the rifle on the 6th ammo test than I did on the first. In other words there is no way I can control everything, I just do my best to control what I can. Thanks for the comment Brian!
