Season 4 in particular with Gillian Anderson as Margaret thatcher has been beyond good. 48:1 is my favourite episode by far, outstanding performances.
I absolutely loved this season. Despite their rifts, I think that QE II and Maggie liked each other. Still, I understand QE II's reservations about her after that rift following the break-in at Buckingham Palace. It's fiction based on fact, but fascinating nonetheless. Long live the queen.
And a substantial part of the Falklands war, and the miners strike, and the attempt on her life in 1984, and the poll tax, etc etc etc But in fairness the show revolves around the royal family and specifically the Queen, so whoever the PM is they're just a side character
I'm not saying that Thatcher and Diana are the same person, but indeed they are never in the same room at the same time during season four... Just sayin
I just fall in love with the plots. Especially when they make Thatcher left the house and then not along after that Diana came in. They know that BOTH of the ladies rock this season hence they can't be in same room. So we will be focusing on each person at a time.
Margaret thatcher: I find in general women are unfit for high office. Queen Elizabeth: why is that? Margaret thatcher: I find they get too emotional. Winston Churchill’s ghost: dear God she doesn’t see the irony.
This depiction of Thatcher is way too affected and stilted, especially considering this is 1979 - not 1990 - where Thatcher has yet to begin her premiership, and is full of energy. This actress also paints Thatcher as ridiculously royalist and chauvinistic, in a slightly creepy way, where my impression is that she embraced royalty and roles in a respectful but modern and pragmatic light. Just go back and watch interviews from the time, especially one done for Women on Women in 1985 addressing the very question of women in her cabinet. It seems typical of today’s film industry to capture a lot of the (perceived) style and very little of the substance. And this is coming from an American.
Yes my impression is that this scene is about the sentiments of today projected into the past rather than anything resembling the dynamic at the time. Even the sense that Thatcher, a conservative is vaguely distasteful to the Queen, who may well align on many issues herself feels dishonest. Asking leading Questions about identity politics; also highly unlikely.
a fun fact, the picture that is huge in the background the Queen Elizabeth is standing in front of is actually hiding a door. it is common for her to meet individuals in that very room because her exit is rather easy by moving the picture over and her taking a quick exit into her quarters. Kind of neat I think.

this particular scene was made into peefection! flawless performance indeed!! seeing these outstanding actors is like u have mothing to do but jaw drop..💗💗💗
Now that I’ve watched a couple of episode of this show it is amazing and rather lovely to see her so nervous and unsure of herself waiting for Margret to arrive.
Nice. That's some splendid acting, script and screenplay.
"I doubt you'll have that trouble with me" ZING!! Good one Your Majesty
I remember as a kid watching Gillian Anderson in the X Files. I never saw her in this role. It's not only the makeup, her personality, her manners, never came up. That's how good of an actress She Is.
I think what Thatcher was saying was she got into high office while never regarding her gender. I don’t know I’m trying to understand what she meant.
@Hannah Dyson man that’s cold
@Hannah Dyson nah she had women in her cabinet over the years, nice try tho
@@omgmono you say 'women' as in plural, but I'm only familiar with one: Baroness Young, who was a friend of hers. Who else was there?
I'd also rather work with men. More productive I find, less drama. (And I include myself here - sometimes I'm a drama queen myself...) My personal experience so far that I hear quite often from other women aswell o.O I think saying her is exactly not defining herself as woman or identifying herself with these traits, but as a political figure - neutral so to say. I'd like to think of myself as a person first aswell, being a woman is not necessarily my priority in my job. So maybe that's where this is coming from.
@@barnaby4232 that's true in my factory nearly every girl prefer work whit mans, there's nearly no drama I'm comparison, it's very common phenomenon either you like it or not
Mrs. Gillian Anderson was Absolutely Superb in her portrail of the Great Mrs. Margaret Thatcher. Just Stunning . Where as Mrs. Coleman sounded like Mrs. Coleman playing the Queen of England.
Thatcher seems so much older than the Queen depicted here, but she was actually only a little over a year older than Elizabeth II
THEY DID THAT!!!! everything about their interaction on the show was brilliant.
Remarkable British women who have left their mark in this country.
I already binged season 4. Suberb! However I do feel that Emma will receive the Emmy over Gillian Anderson.
Kudos, Gillian Anderson ♥️
...OK can we all agree now that Olivia Coleman was phenomenal as Queen Elizabeth II. I think people had a hard time letting go of Claire Foyle because people don’t like change, but Olivia with all due respect really made me forget all about Claire to be perfectly honest. Season 4 in particular with Gillian Anderson as Margaret thatcher has been beyond good. 48:1 is my favourite episode by far, outstanding performances.
Poor old Jim Callaghan, didn’t even get a look in in The Crown, and he was the Queen’s favourite PM.
I think Wilson was her favourite, but Sunny Jim was a very likeable man.
I absolutely loved this season. Despite their rifts, I think that QE II and Maggie liked each other. Still, I understand QE II's reservations about her after that rift following the break-in at Buckingham Palace. It's fiction based on fact, but fascinating nonetheless. Long live the queen.
That curtsy gave me chills down my spine!
Gillian has got Thatcher bang on her voice, look and her posture ... just amazing x
I'm still wondering why they skipped James Callaghan tho..
And a substantial part of the Falklands war, and the miners strike, and the attempt on her life in 1984, and the poll tax, etc etc etc
But in fairness the show revolves around the royal family and specifically the Queen, so whoever the PM is they're just a side character
The last episode skipped through 1973 to the Silver Jubilee (1977).
Yeah, it would've been good to get a few episodes with him as PM. But I guess he's not the first PM to be skipped on this show.
Also the kidnapping of Princess Anne 🙇🏻♀️
Never mind him, why tf did they skip Ronald Reagan? He was important throughout the 80s
Can you imagine these two in the same room together? What a moment
I never knew that The Queen is actually Thatcher's daughter.
I'm not saying that Thatcher and Diana are the same person, but indeed they are never in the same room at the same time during season four... Just sayin
😂😂
I just fall in love with the plots. Especially when they make Thatcher left the house and then not along after that Diana came in. They know that BOTH of the ladies rock this season hence they can't be in same room. So we will be focusing on each person at a time.
Margaret thatcher: I find in general women are unfit for high office.
Queen Elizabeth: why is that?
Margaret thatcher: I find they get too emotional.
Winston Churchill’s ghost: dear God she doesn’t see the irony.
Like how Thatcher fired the first shot in this conversation by her comment of women in higher office, well played.
Ironically Thatcher was very emotional. Always paranoid about plots, always suspicious, quick to anger.
Perfect attributes for totalitarian leaders.
Sounds like every Democrat here in the US.
Well, knowing she was almost murdered by the IRA, that's justified.
@@Baplopirdwhat an absolute disgrace that bombing was. Cannot believe they missed her.
The music is beautiful and a character all in itself!
OMG I could watch Olivia Coleman forever!
Is there anything Gillian Anderson CAN'T do! She's amazing
First time i have ever looked and LISTENED to Anderson as Thatcher!. MY lord, she NAILED it!, absolutely BANG on target!.
"Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy!!!"
the crown is not about acting.....more about perfections in great details...whatever that means!
Bloody convincing Thatcher voice.
a fun fact, the picture that is huge in the background the Queen Elizabeth is standing in front of is actually hiding a door. it is common for her to meet individuals in that very room because her exit is rather easy by moving the picture over and her taking a quick exit into her quarters. Kind of neat I think.
Loved this season of the crown from the storyline to the acting everything was perfect I specially loved Diana’s character.❤️

I don't understand this type of English, as much as I try to sharpen my hearing, but I love hearing it, it's exquisite and I wish one day to be able to speak it like that!😍👌🏻🇺🇲🇨🇴🇬🇧
Hello dear Alfredo how are you doing thanks for the beautiful comment add me on on my email via Hangout so we can know more about each other very well
"Women in general not suited for high office" " They become too emotional " says a woman who is about to be Britain's PM to another woman who is Queen of England. Thats what i call IRONY.
Margaret Thatcher & Kamala Harris have a very different world view
That last line of the queen almost killed me.... the lines were drawn already then... haha....
Once a Queen , alway's a Queen !!!
