Thank you Sir for making this video. The exact same check ball stuck in the separator plate on our 2009 escape. Issue started intermittently, and only when cold. It shifted fine when warmed up. Codes were P0756 "solenoid B stuck off" and P2701 "Transmission friction element "B" apply time". Just got the valve body off/apart tonight.
Thanks dude you saved me a ton of money... its a common probmem on these transmissions... i had same exact check ball through seperstor plate... your the man!
Have 2013 ford fusion with code P0756 "solenoid B stuck off" hard shifting and no second gear but reverse works fine. Changed solenoid B and matched all numbers for exact replacement from ford dealership installed it but did not fix the issue. Found your video after so I opened the Transmission pan back up and took out the valve body. Took it apart and found two check ball vales on one side in the right location and another one pushed through and was stuck behind the gasket. You could see where the ball valve was pushed through and bent up the hole pretty good. Took the gasket off and flipped over the gasket and the hole is bent up much higher than the rest of the gasket where the ball blew through. So happy I found your video. I will be ordering a new gasket and to be safe some new check ball valves tomorrow 👍
Well done! If you are near the Toronto, Ontario area and want to look at a 2013 Ford Edge with what I believe to be the same problems, let me know ASAP! I will NEVER be able to get my mechanic or Mr. Transmission to diagnose this as brilliantly as you did! #BRAVO!
@geraldwilliams3550 did you find out where the check ball was supposed to be in your case? Thank you for posting such a helpful video for those that cant affird to shell out a ton of money for a transmission for such a small defect!
Two years later and you, Sir, are still helping people! Thank You for this video. 2009 Escape V6, 3.0L Automatic 6sp 6F35 transmission with P0756, shift solenoid B stuck off and P2701 Transmission friction element B Apply time range/performance. I found the job fairly simple and straight forward, a little time consuming though that could be that I had never done this type of job before. I had to go to a dealership for the seperator plate as i was only finding the entire valve body assembly for sale online. $25, I will not complain, lol.
Thank yo so much followed your troubleshooting. went and downloaded the manuals took it apart and sure enough the ball was stuck in the plate. had one transmission shop quote me 1200$ to plug a computer into it. and another told me i need a new transmission for 7000$
Thanks for the very detailed video, learned something. Currently having strange shifting issues on my 2012 escape limited as of late last week. No codes are kicking out, concerning as I also experienced unexpected shuttering at acceleration and also getting a delayed acceleration. Curious if you experienced this when you test drove this escape when diagnosing the problem?
Thanks for watching. This escape only had the missing gear . No other symptoms. The 6f35 transmission suffers with valve body wear and torque converter failure. The generation 1 is especially susceptible to valve body wear . (Yours is generational 1 ) I vacuum test all of these valve bodies and make the appropriate repairs. I will say generally a Transgo shift correction kit and AFL kit are my most common fix for the valve body . Sometimes I use Sonnax valve kits for the valves the Transgo kit doesn’t address. Good luck !
Any thoughts on a table reset regarding the adaptive learning? This car has been driven by my wife, last month I have been the primary driver. Came across this on another youtube video, just trying to figure what this issue is, really wish a code would kick out for some guidance before taking transmission apart. Engine is properly running, no misfires and spark plugs were replaced with iridium plugs at 68k
You could reset the adaptives and perform the drive learn procedure . If you have access to service information. You can buy Mitchell DIY or a similar Alldata subscription . The detailed drive procedure is in there . The DIY versions have the same information as the professional versions. Generally the cost is around $30 for a month or 4 years of one car for around $70 . It’s a bargain if you’re a serious DIY . The TCM will learn a single driver’s type of driving and will adapt to a different driver over time . This may cause funky feeling shifts for awhile. I don’t know what kind of tooling or experience you have . I often use Forscan for ford products, I use it with a j box but Forscan has recommended obd 2 pods. I also have multiple aftermarket scan tools and use Ford factory IDS and FDRS with a J box . Forscan is $12 a year and is pretty darn good for relearning and other functions
Just a side note , sometimes resetting adaptives and performing the drive learn may make symptoms worse on a Ford . If you have a internal issue you will know it for sure.
Hello Gerald, I think I may have a similar issue.. I'm getting PO751 (shift solenoid A). It feels like I am taking off from second, and third, fourth fifth seem to be working fine. Every trans shop I talk to wants to change the transmission, but I feel like you just showed me a probable cause for what I am experiencing. -Do you have a video with the po751 plates and check ball? -Jeff M
I have a 2010 escape with the exact same symptoms AND codes!!! Sometimes it runs fine and other times it acts the exact same as in your drive test. Should i just buy the valve body with new solenoids already in it or can i buy just the plate?
I just replaced the valve body on my Escape with this transmission. Now it can only shift from Park (P) to neutral (R, N, D, L). Do you think this is because I reinstalled it with the manual valve misaligned?
Yes that’s highly likely. It’s no fun but you’ll have to look sometimes it’s fiddly. I have done that myself though never on one of these .Good luck and thanks for watching.
I have the exact same code in my 2014 ford fusion 1.5. Sometimes when I put it in reverse it gets into gear kinda hard and sometimes it shifts into it normal. Do you think it's the valve body or the actual solenoid?
It’s nearly impossible to venture a guess . Valve body issues are common in this transmission. Blowing the check balls through the separator plate is also common. Almost everyone I open the separator plate is damaged . The only way to determine the issue is through testing. Replacing the solenoid, while possible, is difficult as the the replacement solenoid must have the exact strategy number etched into it . If I replace solenoids it gets the entire solenoid block and must be learned by entering the solenoid strategy numbers through Ford’s scan tool or other methods. Not relearning strategy will cause shifting issues and possibly transmission damage .
The Ford Escape didn’t need a solenoid . It needed a valve body separater plate as shown in the videos . Are you asking how much this cost my customer for me to repair it ? Thanks for the question .
I’m sorry I miss read your question. All 2012 Escapes equipped with 6f35 transmission have solenoids. Generation 1 transmission’s have 7 Generation 2 have 7 . They are not interchangeable. Changing them requires recoding of the PCM to match the solenoids installed . If you only change 1 solenoid it’s number must match the original or the solenoid strategy may cause shifting issues and possible transmission damage.
@@geraldwilliams3550 dear sir. My problem is when i start the engine and start driving with engine cold the 3rd gear refuse to shift . After 10 minutes when the engine start warming up it shift normaly. Sometimes you have to turn off the car and start again to see gears shifting normally
@@TheAHMEDFALL can you have the car scanned ? Is your check engine light on ? Often auto parts stores will do a code scan for free . Often a late or no shift cold is a hardened seal that softens up a bit warm then begins to work. There is alot of things it could be .

Also an underperforming engine ( drivability ) problem can feel like a transmission issue.
