One of the biggest surprises to me this year is just how much I am enjoying the regular iPhone 15 which, gets a lot of surprise photo upgrades that make it even better than the 14 Pro Max, but I think I discovered the true reason on why you should pick an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro and it may have to do with not just one feature but the philosophy of these phones...

What matters the most is 8gb of ram. 6gb runs out of memory all the time.

I look at the 15 and 15 Pro the same way I look at an A and an A+ on a report card. The A+ is better, but the A isn’t too far behind and is still a great grade.
Upgraded from 12 pro to regular 15, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on any “pro” features since this base model iPhone is better in every way than the 12 pro. The gap between base and pro model is getting smaller and smaller, and I’m here for it! Just my 2 cents!

@@sadialnahian636012 pro doesn’t have 120ghz screen anyway. But I have iPad Pro and 12 pro max and I don’t notice the difference in screen refresh rate unless and until I’m looking for it.

@@newagain9964 you don’t know the difference between b(bit) and B(byte)? 480 Mbps is 0.06 GBps, or 3.6 GB per minute.

MBps is "Megabit per Second" - megabits are not megabyte. 480MBps/8 = 60 MB/s (Megabyte per second) so in 60 seconds, you would do theoretically 3,6GB/m (Gigabyte per Minute). So @pingwinho is right and it is very slow. Imagine you have a 512GB iPhone like me. It would take 2,36Hours to backup the whole phone or its content. Meanwhile the SSD of my Macs shovels 7Gigabyte per second, it can move that amount of Data in 73 seconds.

@@newagain9964 He’s right. Mbps(megabits) and MBps(megabytes) are not the same thing. 480mbps is 60MBps. 60MBps equals 0.06GBps (gigabytes /s). 0.06GBps multiply 60 seconds equals 3.6GB per minute
I got gifted an iPhone 15 Pro in blue titanium few days after its release date. My previous phone was the iPhone 13 128gb and I've been using this new phone for about a week now, I'm just gonna simply put it that I absolutely love this phone and its pro features. If I wasn't gifted this I would still purchase it myself.
I'm glad I found this video in my search. I was almost going to go return my 15 for a 15 Pro, but this was the best, most informative and unbiased review and helped me pick the best phone for my needs!

In my opinion I see that the regular 15 is more than enough for the most of people and cheaper for about 200$ which is a lot of money but the only issue is 60hz refresh rate that's would be a problem if you came from 120hz phone
Thank you for your honesty. Really helps, I am an android user, but am looking to switch because of the find my friends feature, my wife was being followed the other day and it was frustrating not being able to find her and drive to her easily.

Awesome video! I picked up my iPhone 15 Pro on lunch day, but I actually pre-ordered it so it would be delivered to the house. I had no trouble setting it up! Apple has done such a good job at streamlining the set up process. The camera system is incredible! If you want better, trade-in value, go directly through your carrier whether it’s AT&T Verizon or T-Mobile. We have AT&T out here in the country.
I agree the set up was so easy that’s why I never wanted to get a new phone I never remember my passwords this was so easy it put all my apps and everything made it stress free I still like my old xr it’s bullet proof but the speakers went and battery is at 65 percent and has been dropped 10 story’s and underwater a few times

I got a $800 trade in for my iPhone 14 Plus and picked up 15 Pro. I will admit I am having a hard time getting use to the smaller screen but the phone itself is fantastic

I work 10 hour days that are heavy on my phone. I'm using 5-6 hours of screen on time and getting home with about 30% battery left@@AzreffHaeqal
I was surprised with how many people I know can’t tell the difference between 60 and 120 hz.
I was even more surprised by how many of those people couldn’t care less about 120 hz.
After using the 15 Pro, I was even super surprised how I didn’t care about 120 hz.
Great to have a comparison of the pro and non pro models, I definitely value the higher refresh rate

Honestly folks, if you’re looking to upgrade and don’t have a 120hz display, just get the regular model. The 48MP HEIF mode is worth it
60 fps 4K video is 💩 for a 1k phone. We need 120 fps video!
@@Who-cu9eu In fact you don't needs 120fps to feel the 120hz as you fps is completely different than hz as 120 hz on 30 fps content is so much much smoother than 60hz on 30 fps also you will feel the different in the ios itself while scrolling even if you are seeing static screen 60 hz is flickering if you see it with slow motion camera and for me it really hurt my eyes as i can feel it ad annoy me so is not about only gaming & Video.
Hey I'm keeping my iPhone 13 mini but watched your video anyway really well done and a lot of info on the differences between the 15 and the 15 pro but I'm going to wait another year hopefully the 15 will get a better wide-angle camera next year I mean the 16 will get a better wide angle camera anyway nice job
I've used a OnePlus One for the past 8 years. My phone died earlier this week, so I switched to the base iPhone 15. Frankly, I have no use for 120Hz, so I won't miss it.
And let's not forget that higher refresh rate eats into battery life. Battery life is a high priority for me.
Actually the 120hz pro motion display saves battery life for most usage as it is a variable refresh rate display, meaning it clocks down when doing slow or static tasks, and speeds up when scrolling fast or playing games.
The Pro phones really do not make sense for the vast majority of people. The extras it offers are just not that useful or worthy of an extra $200 price, and you get worse battery life as a result.
I have friends who spent the $1200 on the Pro Max model just to do the exact same basic tasks they’d do on the base model that costs $400 less.
Yeah people don't understand if you are a power user it makes some since like taking advantage of video a lot and pushing the actual phone. But most just need the basic but as in most tech people think they need more than they do
People that have $1200 to spend on a phone aren’t worried about spending that $1200 anymore than somebody who has $20,000 to spend on a luxury handbag doesn’t really think much of spending $20k.
If money is an issue, the entry levels’ greatest feature isn’t battery life, the processor, etc. it’s the price.

My husband has the 14 Pro and I do pinch it sometimes for macro photos.😂 I wish they brought that to the regular phones, since I really like that feature. I wouldn’t use ProRes video and I don’t mind 60hz display, although it would be nice if Apple gave the regular iPhone 90hz as a little upgrade.
Thanks, Greg. I have a 11. Not sure which one to get, or even to get a 14. Any move up is a great leap from the 11. Walking through all the details helped me see the differences. This helps a lot. I have an iPad, an iMac, and and MacBook Pro, so I can use the smaller phone, and watch videos on the other devices. Still not sure. This was great. I know to get the 15 now.
My brother has the 11 pro max. Still rocks. I upgraded from the SE3 to the 13. Same chip as the 14 with a little less RAM. The 11 and 13's are the legends. Plus the color options of the 15 are awful.

I upgraded from the 14 pro to the Pink 15 & I’m happy with my purchase. I have no regrets. I will definitely be keeping my phone for a few years to come. I don’t see an issue with losing my 3 cameras.

Great review, I need to replace my old XR model and the Mrs's 11 Pro Max, seems like macro camera is biggest bridge between 15 and 15 Pro, as our current phones are well behind with camera the 15 Max will be enough to have the enhanced camera experience and with a £600 British pounds saving on two phones you have helped me dearly. I was thinking of upgrading my gen 2 SE to an iPhone 14. The Verizon rep told me my bill would increase by about $24 per month. However, by switching to a newer unlimited plan and trading in the SE, I was able to get the 15 at the same monthly $ I’ve been paying. Hats off to my Verizon rep!
I have had the new iPhone in various forms each launch, the 15 pro max is by far the better offering as of yet, don't underestimate the weight change (only small on paper but you really feel it). and it just feels snappy at everything it does. so much better than my 14 PM which was a suprise even for me.

I have been reading about the 15 Pro and Pro Max for awhile and began watching your videos.. I like it very much. Thank you for helping me make my decision to switch!
The only 15 I considered was the ProMax. I wanted the 5X telephoto lens. I have used the 5X lens numerous times and it provides fantastic results. I could care zero about the 3X digital zoom versus the 3X on the non ProMax. I mainly use the ultra wide and the telephoto. Works perfect for my usage.
Glad I chose the base iPhone 15. Such good value.

@@alejandro8511 I'm probably not the best person to give an opinion as it's my second phone. I'm mainly an android user with an S23 Ultra as my daily driver. So far, the battery has been good. Although I haven't used it for extensive periods. I'll try and update this comment when I've properly used if for a while.

i upgraded from the iphone 14 pro max to the iphone 15 pro in white titanium and i've been loving it so far despite the fact that the battery lasts less... the screen is so much smoother and the phone is very lighter compared to the 14 pro max, but i wish apple made a pro phone in pink though, the iphone 15 pink is soooo pretty

Reality it is not, there is no display difference that you able to see. I have my old XS max and 15 plus side by side, all the same to me or the old XS max has a slightly better brightness. Pay over $1,100 for a better camera and a spare battery 😢. That’s all,

From iPhone 13 Pro Max to iPhone 15, after a couple weeks I’m happy with it. The 60hz and 120hz difference isn’t as noticeable for me, and I actually enjoy having a smaller phone. The only negative(which isn’t big enough for me to complain) is the battery difference. As an average person, the pro didn’t have a big enough difference to ever get one again.
I switched from the pixel 7 to the 15 pro, and have no complaints. For me, the extra 180 bucks is well worth it over the regular 15
After watching every review on these new devices I got much more confident to switch to the (now discounted) 14 pro max.

I’m still using my xs max and have had no issues for my needs. GF recently bought me the 15 regular for my birthday which is the only reason I upgraded. I have a gaming pc for gaming and higher end cameras for photos so I saw no point in upgrading over the last 6 years.
Grabbed a regular 15 after being fed up with connection issues with my pixel 7. The 60hz is the only downside but I don’t really care. Everything running smooth, happy to be back to ios.

Great video. Superlative production and presentation. For $200 more, I would choose the iPhone 15 Pro Max over the iPhone 15 Plus. I would use the Pro features, as well as appreciating the extra 128 gb of storage. It's well worth the upgrade.
I try the iPhone 15 plus and I noticed the difference in refreshing rate finally I exchanged it for the 15 pro max in my opinion is a difference in refreshing rates

I was considering the 13 Mini when my XS stops getting the latest iOS (guessing this time next year) because of the weight of the 13/14 Pros but, with the new ones getting a lighter weight frame, that idea might now be redundant.

I bought the iPhone 15 Plus 512GB and have been very happy with the best longer lasting battery life out of all the 15 models.
60hz is a dealbreaker. Hopefully in 2-3 yrs when I upgrade again from the 15P I’ll get the base with promotion. Side by side the difference was drastic

I do have an iPhone 15 Pro and I have had it since late September 2023 and I love it. I replaced my iPhone 12 Pro with this device and gave it to my mom.
Switched from 13PM to 15 Plus (I LOVE the pink) and I haven’t noticed a difference… I hate the two camera set up though lol

I was thinking about another camcorder then found out what the 15 Pro can do. For the reasons you say about ProRes, Raw and exterior connectivity and Blackmagic App, I did get the 15 Pro; more expensive yes but very much cheaper than a camera.

Nice video, I have recently purchased an I phone 15, I already have an OnePlus 11 as well. Most of the videos I see for phone reviews people tend to talk a lot about phone hardware , chipset , camera. One honest opinion it's my individual perception . I need a phone as a phone. For camera I would prefer a Nikon z series like Z 7 II or a Z9 since I am into wildlife photography. Phones no matter carry a good camera but Go Pro are better when it comes to portable and tough systems. The question here is why should one choose a phone as a cinema camera or action camera ? Considering people who are searching for them will end in in purchasing a camera and not a phone as a substitute of camera.
Upgrading from 12 pro to 15 plus I don’t really game on my phone if I want to play AAA console games I have a Ps5 and Series X for that and I don’t care about camera specs all I do is watch videos, movies and listen to music mainly using my phone so the battery and screen size of the plus model is ideal for me
U can always use third party apps to shoot raw or pro resolution on the regular 15 so it’s no an issue
Got to go for the 15 pro coz of the better camera system, better quality, got to luv it
I'm using version 15 basic. iOS motion effects are so smooth, that I can't believe the screen is only 60hz. I used to use Samsung's 120hz , it was laggy and not very stable.

Ive been having the 12 pro max for over 3 years now, and I have been thinking of going for the 12 pro max to the upcoming iphone 16 Pro. I've been noticing I tend to use only one hand to try to reach the screen and just use mostly for going through social media and watching videos and take pictures once in a while but not really take 4K video so Ill probably go with the 16 Pro when it comes out since its not far away for Fall 2024

Thank you for the interesting point of view. I find it fascinating that most people upgrade their phones every year when it really isn’t necessary. I mean features/changes are minimal at best so I would conclude that upgrades are status of having the latest.

They have different camera hardware. iPhone 15 pro have 1/1.28 sensor size and 1.8 focal length while regular iPhone 15 have 1/1.56 sensors size and 1.6 focal length.
I was saving for a new phone since last year, knowing that for September, we will be getting new phones, and was gonna get a regular 15 for my self as a birthday gift, but me and the whole family just find out my father has lung cancer, and since he has no insurance, the entire family had to chip in to help with medication and bills 😔. Not asking to feel bad for me to get a new phone but i think it would be better to be honest than just saying “ my phones old so i meed one” or whatever. Anyways great video as USUAL!
