This version of words pronunciations is phenomenal. Continue with it because it will help children born in diaspora to learn our different dialects in Igbo language . I like your show. Keep them coming.
Owerri dialect is exceptional and it has this fun that comes with it. People still beg me to speak the dialect when conversing with them in Igbo. Nda Joe ekele m gi!
Anytime am close to Owerri or Ebonyi person speaking Igbo i will always open my ear well becus i barely understand a thing as if am not Igbo again. Watching from China 🇨🇳 ❤
Pls ooo do not use malaria to compare hunchback, you say what Ebonyi that one is out of it you will need an interpreter to hear what they are saying, owerri dialect has swag, not from owerri but I speak it very well.
I love my Owerri dialect soooo much!!! I can’t speak it and it pains me 😔 but i understand it perfectly. When i hear little kids speak it, oh it’s music to my ears!
The Igbo language and people are such a vast and rich culturally and linguistically. Years ago when I visited Nigeria I thought my Alayi/Bende dialect was the only Igbo but I soon realized that even within the Bende Division there are countless other dialects and the more I travelled the length and breath of the Igbo nation I discovered that there exists still scores and scores of other different dialects which I think in total there might be 100+ different Igbo dialects but yet some fundamentally unifying traditions, customs, philosophies, values, and norms which binds all the various dialects together. I would rather suggest that you guys steer the program in a more educative and respectable approach that would promote respect for all the different dialects. Language is a gift from God and that is what makes humans unique and different from animals. Like the different parts of the human body that gives humans the aesthetics and functionality, all the different dialects complement each other giving us the Igbos the rich cultural heritage that is unparalleled in other cultures. Just one example, take the Igbo cuisines as a case study, can you count or name the many different types of soups cooked by the Igbo people both currently and in the bygone years?. There’s no reason why some sections of the Igbo nation should be made to feel less Igbo because of their unique dialects, there’s more that binds us all together than variations of dialectic. Dialects are nothing but flavors and we should appreciate that.
Daniel, irrespective of the different Igbo dialects, you still find a part of one in the other. Asusu Igbo and the dialects have this perfect harmony that is rooted in our culture and traditions. Ngalaba Asusu Igbo ga-adi!
So there are some Igbo words and Yoruba words that are somewhat similar. For instance in Igbo, goat is pronounced as"Ewu" while in Yporuba, it is pronounced "Ewure". Igbo people say "Ise" while Yoruba people say "Ase". They both mean the same thing.
😆 Ndi Owerri Igbo bu Igbo Igbo kwenu! Anambra man here with mother from Abia So I am use to hearing multiple dialects even though my mother speaks my father's dialect.
I'm from Imo state but sometimes ehn, it's like the state itself still has different dialects. My Mom is from Obinze and My Dad is from Mbano and their dialects are different. Sometimes my mom even yabs my Dad with some certain igbo words he says😂😂😂😂
There are more than 1000 dialects in Igbo land. It might be the most for a single ethnicity in the world. No 2 towns speak the same exact dialect in Igbo land.
I'm an Anambarian. My mother In law from Imo State lived with me for 4 years. Sincerely, it took me months to get to understand her Imo dialect. I was so embarrassing 😂😂 This is the exact way those from Imo speak.
5:47 “na-Agbo Agbo” sounds like foaming when you put soap in water. Boiling water also has bubbles just like soapy water. So it makes sense when Owerri people say boiling water “na-agbo agbo” 🤣
