Hi Lucas, hope you feel better soon. All of your hats are really nice. I’m sure whoever gets one will greatly appreciate it. I like the suggestions of other commenters about letting those of us on your channel help you with the hats and/or soap holders next year. 🧶🫂

    Hi Lucas,
No apologies - you did AWESOME with making all those hats.
Any perceived failure was in your eyes ONLY, believe me.
It's easy to beat yourself up when you're not feeling well.
Maybe for rhe upcoming year, consider asking your subs and/or members for donations (like, one per person or something, so you're not drowning in items to distribute).
    Have a better day. 🐞

You have not failed. You are successful and many will be delighted. Btw the blue hat with white trim might fit the heads of my male family members but there is a strong chance it’s too small. They make it difficult for me to make hats that fit them.

You have not failed. You are doing a good job. You have to take of yourself first. Feel better. I have the rectangle looms and want to try and make something but can’t find anyone to teach or help me. I learn better with visuals than just reading. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My hats tend to come out a bit big because I crochet too loose. I loom knit, it took me a few tries to get the correct gauge, use the right yarn, etc. Charisma yarn from Michaels works for me nicely or wool ease thick and quick. K&B authentic are very good wooden looms. Also depending on the stitch used is how thick it is. There are some very good loom knitting youtube videos out there. Tutate is awesome. Loomahat is also awesome, she does loom knit video tutorials on youtube and has her own website. She explains about gauge with the looms and the 4 main stitches. Goodknit kisses and crochet crowd has old videos teaching looming. Deborah shaw also has very good knit looming video tutorials. I made a blanket that is on my couch with my loom and lots of hats. If you have questions just message or email me. I can help you. Your hat isn't bad for the first try. I also made legwarmers and fingerless gloves too. The loops and threads looms are not bad I have them too. They have a round loom set and a square loom set. Lots of folks complain more about the Boye looms.

Hi Lucas, I hope you feel better soon. Yes, there is a set of 4 or 5 circle looms, sized for heavier weight 5 & 6 yarns with taller, wider spaced pegs, and a set of 4 or 5 circle looms for lighter weight 3 & 4 yarns, with shorter and closer together pegs. They also have what I call stick looms for scarves, or panels. The bunching at the top is unavoidable cuz you are not decreasing, but looks ok with a pompom. I have the same problem at the bottom of the loom hats. Even with a brim, it seems to look more like a bucket hat (too wide). Good luck, and happy Thanksgiving if we don’t see you Tuesday. 🦃

Years ago, I used the knitting looms that everyone hates (Boye) successfully with two strands of #4 yarn. I found that I got a much better looking hat when I did each stitch separately. Wrap, hook over, wrap, hook over; all around the loom. Yes, it takes longer, but the stitches are more even and there is no laddering effect. I got that hint from a book on loom knitting by Isela Phelps. I don't remember the title. She has several on Amazon, but I got mine from the library. Oh, I also used to decrease a couple rows before cinching the top of the hat.

Knitting board has circular loom. They have they wide gauge, for #6 super bulky weight yarn. They also have circle looms with a narrowed gauge that is great for #4 worsted weight yarn. I mayhave seen these looms in JoAnns and Michaels.

I hope you feel better soon! You did a great job on the hats, give yourself grace. In my community there’s a group that collects yarn donations and knitters and crocheters make various items for the community in need. Does yours have something like that? Many hands do great work just a thought.

as for the stiffening, place some cling film/wrap foil on the outside of a regular bowl, then place that bluishgreen hat with white brim over it to dry in that shape. The balloon might make it a little bit rounder and will not sit on the table, but wobble. Just thinking a loud. Get well soon wishes!

Hey Lucas! Hope you feel better soon...I think I'm getting a cold. Ugh. I just made an infinity scarf on a loom last week. But I didn't make it long enough. I haven't made a hat on a loom in years. I'll have to post a picture of the scarf in your fb group.

Next year let us join you in making hats. Since your channel isn’t very big yet, maybe by next year it will be to big, you probably won’t be overwhelmed by hats from viewers. I don’t consider you a failure on your hats. I had to redo a hat that I was making for my adult son, 3 times. Size was an issue and it was one of Crystal’s patterns. Sorry you got sick I hope you get better soon. Happy Thanksgiving!

Think about this. Have us crochet, knit, Tunisian or other way. Make hats and send them to you for next year? Just a thought. I made 86 hats a few years ago for Paradise Fiber make group. But they should all be acrylic yarns only, due to allergies.❤ besides you have Not failed, you just ran out of time.

You haven't failed dear boy.... You are ill and that's why you didn't meet the target you set yourself. Donate the large one..lots of hair or a larger head .. it will be appreciated. They all will.
    C=2πr... remember the maths?
Circumference is therefore 2 π diameter
    2 x 3.142 x diameter....
You started talking of this just as I finished typing...
I thought you were measuring around the circle like some do.
When I explained it I was told I was a crochet math nerd 😊
I've just got a Sentro off Temu (half the price of Amazon)
    It's 2 x 3 weight that gives a 5.
3 = DK, double knitting. Chunky (5 for you) originally emerged as double double (yes I'm that old)
Some kid will love that pink hat

You are using the loosest stitch, but there are many more stitches available. A good resource is UA-cam; searching for "Loom a hat" can provide useful tutorials. I have been looming for a while, although it was some time ago, before I learned to crochet. There are looms with a tighter gauge (Kb looms), but making a hat with them is time-consuming because you could knit it instead. You're a skilled knitter, and there are UA-cam tutorials for that as well.
