  • Switched out a manual deflector for an electric actuator on my 3033r John Deere Tractor front mount snowblower.
This makes life a lot easier being able to stay in the cab and make adjustments to the deflector rather then getting out everytime adjusting it manually.
Was a big Cost saving as well 👍👍
Buying the parts needed through Amazon as apposed to the John deere dealer.

I love how that turned out. Awesome job. As for a way to disconnect the wires quick and easy i believe you can get 2 wire connects for trailers. Its a super cheap wire connect plug you shoukd be able to connect and disconnect even with gloves on. I used them for communications wires in dive helmets (so they appear to be waterproof as well).
And if you think that is slow you should time me climbing on and off my kubota to change the chute manually... you could time me with a calendar not a stopwatch lol.
Love the video, thanks for taking the time to make it.

Thanks for the comment. That is a good idea for the 2 wire connection. I will definitely try that. 🙂 And yes, that would definitely be slow, having to get on and off to change the chute every time 😆

Nice to see a fellow Canadian on this app! I'm working with an old Ford LGT165. Using it as is for now but I need to motorize the chute rotation and possibly the deflector. Waiting on warmer weather (currently -35c)

      Thanks for watching 👍
My next blower will definitely have the hydraulic controlled chute and deflector.
The actuator worked ok for a while but I think it got water and froze up burning the motor.

I got mine about 4 years ago from Merrit and it still works great but mine tractor is in a non-heated garage. I did rip the cord out of the actuator the first year (cus I’m dumb) so make sure there is slack in the cable when the cute rotates. Solder and siliconed it back together and has been fine for the 4 years. Nice job on the video.

This season I will have to get out and turn my blower shoot by hand and I'm not happy about it. I ran out of time and no heated garage to make the brackets for the electric shoot rotation and mount the motor and actuator. It's going to be -18C and blowing snow starting this week and nothing but cold from here on out. Oh well, at least I'll be warm inside my heated cab. So I guess it's not so bad if I have to get out once or twice. Great video and what you just did I will do in the spring...Cheers.

I just received the parts to add this modification to the snowblower deflector.
This morning, I'm installing it on the blower with quick connectors.
So, this winter, I won't have to get out of the cab to change the angle of the deflector, total comfort in short.

Good video, definitely listen to R2D2 below... I have had same experience, I have replaced the gear set 3 times in actuator caused by water freezing in gear box, before you use it on a cold cold day take your propane torch and warm it up to melt, or it will break 2 gears.

If you keep your tractor in a warm garage once its introduced to the cold, overtime it will build up condensation inside the actuator enough to freeze up on you. ive been through 3 actuatores over the years due to keeping my tractor in a warmer garage. i use a heat gun to thaw the actuator so i can finish the job if the chute freezes fully up. it was recommended that i install the actuator upside down but have still experienced the issue. i may drill a tiny water drain hole in the body at this point. good luck!

I did the same on my Kioti except I mounted it upside down in case water ran down the shaft. Being upside down it should keep water out of the motor.

Good morning, I enjoyed the video, well done. I am thinking of purchasing the actuator and switch that you left links to. Before I do I was wondering if you have had any issues with either of them? Thanks in advance.

Thank you...I have sold the tractor since then, but there were no issues for the time I used it.
