Wow! $100 in 62. Let's see a loaf of bread was about 22 cents. Eggs about 50 cents and milk around 50 cents. My mom would give me $2 to pick these items up and still had 5 cents to get a Hershey bar, which were a lot bigger back then, with money left over. Thanks for sharing this timepiece.
Plugging those 1962 amounts into the inflation calculator that I used would tell us your mom would give you $17.00. Bread was $1.88, eggs and milk were $4.28, and that candy bar was 43 cents, for a total of $1.27 which left you 73 cents to save. Invested in the S&P 500 index with dividend reinvestment at 7.6% would be worth $672 today. If it was me, I would have bought a few more candy bars.
@@the_clock_guy mom expected change. My sister and I split the candy bar. Been wanting to post that I watch EXPLOMO. Two college kids from Belgium that explore castles in Europe. In some of them everything is left behind. I have seen some beautiful clocks. My favorite are in France. I always think , I bet the Clock Guy could have fun with those.
Hello there, I have a question, I just was given a Colonial of Zeeland Grandfather Clock apparently of the 1980s, however is missing the weights, my question is: How can I determine the weight it needs? Hopefully I'm expressing my cuestion rightly?
Hi frugal daddy...how's it going ...I love ur clocks...I love ur wood clocks the carvings are beautiful...has this one got brass fittings..Quad Mum Adelaide Australia
Thank you for watching my videos. I wish I had time to make them. I have at least 400 clocks I would like to show, but I never seem to get time to work on them. I will keep trying because I know other people like old clocks too. My best to you.
I know I should be sleeping....I have been getting up a little before 5AM in order to process some of my clocks and videos, but it seems other things take priority right now. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I feel like every clock must be the very best I can produce and every video is as good as it can be. Well, we all know that there is no such thing as perfect, so I end up spinning my wheels and getting nothing accomplished. See, I can't even just say thank you for watching and move on. I want to talk with everyone who comments on my videos. I try and then get overwhelmed.....which leads directly to just not commenting at all. Then guilt, then frustration, then,....... My Heavens. I am a mess! Thanks for letting me get that out. 😊
