I purchased 3mg melatonin and took a half a tablet last night for the first time ever . In 30 minutes I couldn’t hardly hold my eyes open . I’m hooked ❤

Your tolerance will increase and you’ll soon need more and more to get the same affect. The more you take, the more chances of you having nightmares.

I started taking 3mg of Melatonin at night to sleep better and I soon started feeling depressed. I am not a depressed person so this was very bothersome to me. It felt like I was under a dark cloud wherever I went. I thought back over my daily routine and realized that taking Melatonin was the only new thing I had added. So I stopped taking it and the depression lifted. I later read that depression can be one of the side effects of Melatonin. After a lot of research that I did for an irregular heartbeat, I started taking 400 mg of Magnesium Glycinate a day. Along with changing the way I eat (long story) I now sleep through the night. Many people are deficient in their magnesium levels and you cannot tell through a blood test because only 1 or 2 % of your body’s magnesium level shows up in a blood test. Magnesium is good for your heart, brain, esophagus, blood pressure, bones, glucose levels, pancreas, and stress. Needless to say, I highly recommend it.

I’m sorry to hear that. How long have you been taking it? Some people are so deficient in magnesium, it takes some time to build up their levels. Also, are you taking vitamin D? Magnesium won’t work for you if you are low in vitamin D. Could there be other reasons why you are having trouble sleeping well? Are you eating late at night or before you go to bed? Are you absorbing the blue light of computer screens before going to bed? I would recommend a long walk to breathe out your anxieties and fatigue your muscles . Aerobic workouts are great for that.@@giao2380

since the pandemic sadly melatonin as a supplement has had a negative effect on me as when I had covid back in 2020, it made me have horrible nightmares. The best and honest way to get our bodies to produce melatonin is by getting up go outside take some sun and embrace God's blessings.

Thank you.sometimes I use a half of a milligram of melatonin to get to sleep. Even that sometimes makes me feel hungover the next day. Im going to try the foods now and see if that helps. ❤

Thank you. My granddaughter had problems sleeping. Wish we knew that pistachio could have helped. She is a mother now, if the little one has problems in 4 or 5 years I hope I remember to tell her.

Melatonin has never worked for me nor does it help my dog. I've even doubled his does. Thus far I've found nothing that helps us sleep. It's so frustrating. Even talking to God keeps me up because I find I go too deep in my thoughts I share with him. Valerian doesn't work for either of us either. And yes we have light out curtains. Most nights I'm lucky to get three hours per night of sound sleep.

Dear Doctor Marcum, can using melatonin supplement cause dark spots on your face? I use to take it years ago and got the best sleep every single night, but then I got this dark spot over my lip and stopped taking it.
