As a schoolboy I used to travel between Bray and Blackrock between 1979 and 1984 and I think I remember 226 as one of the towing Loco's then. as a side note in November 1979 I was supposed to be on the train that crashed in the Killiney/Dalkey tunnel. The reason I wasn't on it, we had a powercut were I lived and I was running late. This was all pre DART so most Locos pulling suburban trains were C200's
I remember these locos doing the Connolly to Rosslare harbour runs back when I was a wee snapper. The had reliability issues if I remember correctly and is why Iarnród Éireann got rid of them.
Lovely Scenes!😃.Great to see her under her own power again!.Well Done to the Crew at Carrick on Suir for getting her moving again under her own power!.
id say so remember they only have 10 active members in itg so they need loads of active members in order to restore more engines at once. i am thinking of becoming one myself.
@@CameronSurnamowell I have seen them over the years and really it’s not that bad just needs a bit of care because one group of people destroyed a train there
@@brickbehindthescreen Im actually not sure where C227 is even though I’ve been looking for it for weeks, they seem to have it hidden to avoid further damage. The locomotive is completely empty on the inside, all the moving parts are gone and the ceiling is rotten, I think the ITG are meant to be taking the bogies off of it and I have no idea what will happen to it after. It’s been stored in an unsecure and corrosive environment for years, it’s a pity as it’s original line of Cahersiveen is where I live and it would be great to see it restored.
it brings back old memories when i worked with cie thank you for putting it up
This is really cool, also love the ancient looking building being used as a shop. Has so much character!
Fantastic!! That horn brings back memories, well done lads, fair play to all involved.

Great work lads
I remember those loccomotives
Super !
Gotta be the shortest short line in the world!
One small move for a loco, one giant leap for ITG-kind!
Brilliant.
Great stuff how are they going to get it on the main line?
It may not be going on the mainline, a heritage railway is our preferred location.
Cool. Sounds just like a metro vick should.
Well ! Are you going to come out of the shed or not?????
No, we like it in here, it's private.
Is that all of the track that it can run on? If so that's no fun!
I agree
Where was that filmed?
Anything ever going to happen with B103?

Great vid.Any idea where you go from here?
thanks
Lots more work, though mainly body/paintwork etc., then it needs to find a home....
@@irishtractiongroup Thanks
@@irishtractiongroup are you going to work with rpsi so this would be the first a class on the mainline since 1995
@@James-ih4gz No. That is very unlikely.
@@irishtractiongroup do the rpsi and traction group ever work together. i would love to volunteer with you guys
Isn’t this at moyasta?
No I think you are thinking of C227, sadly I’m fairly sure it is in a much worse condition.

@@CameronSurnamo I met the guy who owns it and his plan is to hopefully restore them and make a museum sorta thing
@@brickbehindthescreen Was it Jackie Whelan? Can I ask how long ago you met him?
Good old technic built for never stop working !
Need work for tourist attraction !?
8-645E?
It is indeed.
The tracks don't look very long. 20 meters? Not a very exciting ride...
