Wow, I got here fast. I'm so glad we're back to having multiple Fallout series on the channel, just like the old days An interesting diatribe about Silvester McCoy, I had the pleasure to meet him at comic con in Middlesborough, I was he was a really cool guy and was good enough to answer some questions, though he couldn't say much about the mod. After the Con there was a fault in the rail lines and all the trains in and out of Middlesborough were delayed by an hour, I remember standing on a railway platform in my armoured Vaultsuit, and seeing Silvester McCoy striding out of a heavy mist, he was wearing a suit with a fedora and he had a ornate cane. He looked over the departure boards then asked about the delays. Once he found out about the delay he looked us all up and down and said "Who's for the Pub?" And that is how I ended up buying the 7th Doctor a whisky.
I had checked specifically if they renamed aluminum to aluminium, and I'm glad Jon asked the same question. Of course you don't want skimmed milk in your tea! Or was it semi skimmed...? Edit: The rant about the train stations was basically a foreign language to me.
Agent Smythe's 'Be seeing You" is, I think, a distinct reference to the classic TV show "The Prisoner" and the Corpse on the platform with the white suit , cane and bowler is a Droog from "A Clockwork Orange"
They refer to PINDAR stations as the equivalent of Fallout Vaults - PINDAR is the name of the nuclear fallout bunker under the Ministry of Defence building in Westminster. The name is a reference to an Ancient Greek poet who lived in Thebes - and had the only home left standing after the city was destroyed.
Fair warning about the fancy new consumable cigarettes, the addiction effect absolutely tanks your endurance. Be careful of being tempted by the +5% experience gain. Also, put the balisong away before entering dialogue. Your character gets easily distracted doing tricks.
The FOLON team hit some critical Bethesda metrics: You're not a prisoner or a vault-dweller, but waking up in a tube counts. 1 point. 2 former Doctors die in the first 15 minutes...I'll call that equal to one Patrick Stewart. 2 points. You crashed trying to leave the tutorial level. That is a trifecta, and a sure sign that this needs to be a series. I'm looking forward to it! As interesting as that sounds, it would be annoying after awhile to sleep and then wake up somewhere entirely different. Especially if you end up really far away from where you slept
I love how Jon was obsessing over the two different types of milk at the start to point out the fact they were clearly given the wrong colour. red is for skimmed milk green is for semi-skimmed
If you read the packaging, they are correct- the red is skimmed, green semi skimmed- but the actual tags for them in game seem to have been muddled up.
Ms Smythe already giving the perfect over the top British bond villain esc energy perfect for a fallout game set in London I'm so obsessed with her already
It’ll honestly be kind of fun seeing a fallout game that doesn’t make sense in terms of cultural references and whatnot. And it is certainly adorable seeing Jon geek out over all the little details he recognizes.
Getting major voice actors and then killing them off after about 3 minutes of collective screen time is pretty faithful to honouring a Bethesda game to be fair
The Marquis of Kent pub shown at the end is definitely their version of the Marquis of Granby at the corner of New Cross Road and Lewisham Way. Fucking outstanding.
LOVED the vid! Some little notes about the crashing issues. Buffout 4 mod is a MUST HAVE for this, you'll need some pre-requisites such as F4SE (which you should already have), Address Library All In One, and the correct runtime environment. I'm also playing with Long Loading Times Fix, because although I am on nvme ssd, the load times were taking forever when entering the worldspace from an interior. I have the steam version and the mods through Vortex (Via Nexus) and I load the game from there. Those should help with crashes and load times. You will experience bugs still with quests etc. We are actively reporting them on the FOLON discord and they have already advised on a variety of quest bugs there and will issue proper fixes in future updates.
@@Docktavion well if memory serves, McCoy's doctor was gunned down by gang members in a San Francisco allyway, so the shooting checks out, and as for baker... I think it was a Tardis crash but I'm not sure. There was drama behind the scenes so he wasn't actually there to film his death scene so it was all very rushed
Ok, I don't know much about this mod, but I DO know that intro sequence seems very reminiscent of the beginning of Fallout Van Buren, at least according to what little we know about it. You even start in what looks like the same jumpsuit and are rescued by a faction rivalling your captors who weren't really there for you in particular - in Van Buren it would have been the NCR rescuing you from an automated prison. I'd like to think it's a nice callback to the Fallout 3 that might have been
The "British Imperial Ministry of Transportation" makes me think that we aren't entirely in Kansas anymore when it comes to tube layout. Possibly also in terms of levels of armed bellicosity.
I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, but the cursed clown scar is definitely a mod and it's based on and named after the main character of D.Grayman who has a scar in the exact shape and placement on their face.
What a marvelous game, and kudos to the devs for not only getting two absolute legends to record literally two minutes of speech, but for using Johnston (the font used by Transport for London) for the graphics - that screams Attention To Detail, and I love it (although they lose a point for getting the milk colours the wrong way round!)
Here's a little bit of London Underground trivia most people don't know about: Since Brexit, all the trains are operated by a guy wearing a train shaped hat running real fast below the tracks.
Oh my God this is FASCINATING. Like, this is just an entirely new flipping GAME, they simply borrowed FO4's engine and some of its mechanics to make it. Talk about a labor of love! And you geeking out over recognizing stuff and everything being British and being confused about how weird the train lines are in this universe is -- well, it's delightful. Cue me figuring out the best way to make sure I have enough free time on Saturdays for this series! (And I love how both of your current main Fallout protagonists are titled in their own way -- wonder what Mayor Bob would make of Lady Aria...)
BY THE THRONE! Brother Baldermort is even the one who narrates the intro to this mod. I'm in love with this already and it's only been 20 seconds. This makes me a very happy Crusader to see our Beloved Servo Skull becoming more and more recognized. As he rightly deserves!
I love the fact that they even got the former speaker of the house John Bercow to be the voice of the speaker of the house in this game.. Hilarious.. ORDER!!!!
i love the game starting with the 7th doctor getting shot to death, hopefully Paul McGann turns up later in the mod once theyve taken McCoy to the morgue
Having Jon nerd out in Brit references brought many smiles and we are only on episode 1! Seriously, the best way to describe this series is: *happy British noises*
22:47 I’m not even British and loved that touch. If official Fallout followed that kind of pattern of realism, most banks and government buildings (built in the 40s-60s, or in Fallout, any) would also have similar shelters beneath them. Like the bank in my home town that still has the signs on it because it was built in that period.
I thought there's no way the map for a public transport system is copyrighted. Then I looked and there's a whole page on the transport for London page about licensing and fees. For using a subway map...

The moment the Wayfarer ended up in Lewisham was when I took particular notice--it was where I visited when I traveled to London. If you read the packaging, they are correct- the red is skimmed, green semi skimmed- but the actual tags for them in game seem to have been muddled up.
Ms Smythe already giving the perfect over the top British bond villain esc energy perfect for a fallout game set in London I'm so obsessed with her already
Oh my god a fallout game where jon knows more about the landscape than I do
The Glowing Sea is probably the Quabbin Reservoir as nuking that would kill a lot of people from thirst.
@@charlesfranks1902nah its gotta just be the entire Thames right
More please. Also love the fact you immediately started to play mornington crescent with train stations.
It’ll honestly be kind of fun seeing a fallout game that doesn’t make sense in terms of cultural references and whatnot. And it is certainly adorable seeing Jon geek out over all the little details he recognizes.
Agreed. Jon on his "home turf" in Fallout will be fun to watch.
I thoroughly enjoyed his pretend/not pretend freak out over the tube map.
Can confirm Buffout 4 is a must
I still can't get over the fact that they got not one but two Doctor Whos to do the cocking intro
If I remember correctly they also die in similar situations to how their drs do as well (I really need to look it up again lol)
Leave it to Jon to walk right past a weapon. WALKING CANE!
I stand corrected. I'm impressed
I'd like to think it's a nice callback to the Fallout 3 that might have been
The “cursed clown scar” appears to be the most unsubtle D. Gray-Man reference I’ve ever encountered… 😮
Skimmed milk looks like water that's been used to wash out white paint from a brush.
But with less flavour.
The cane, bowler hat, and white pajamas were a great A Clockwork Orange reference
The "British Imperial Ministry of Transportation" makes me think that we aren't entirely in Kansas anymore when it comes to tube layout. Possibly also in terms of levels of armed bellicosity.
Just under a half hour in and we've already reached a clusterfuck of Jon's 2 biggest hyperfixations: Trains and London
The day someone installs an Excel mod into Fallout, we are doomed
I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, but the cursed clown scar is definitely a mod and it's based on and named after the main character of D.Grayman who has a scar in the exact shape and placement on their face.
I avoided the comments and twitter until I got to the end to confirm you're doing a full series. This is gonna be a blast.
What a gem of a mod! These episodes need to be an hour long!
I've been following this mod for a couple of years now, and I have been SO excited to watch you play this!
As someone who just went through London Bridge station and the Shard yesterday, that opening was kinda surreal.
I have been WAITING SO LONG for you to play this! I love the intro so far! It's very early Fallout story telling
Two actual Doctors AND a Prisoner reference? This is going to be special.
And James Bond as the mysterious stranger…
Jon getting excited about all the British things in the video is precisely why I came straight here to watch Fallout London stuff first. :D
I love the fact that they even got the former speaker of the house John Bercow to be the voice of the speaker of the house in this game.. Hilarious.. ORDER!!!!
I'm sorry they fucking what.
This mod is surreal as a British person, how does this exist 😭
@@hamzahsajjad7952 To prove that brits have a sense of humour? :D
@@anumeon Surely they invented it, right?
Betty was so much better than that little dissapointment of a man.
The myth, the man, the legend, THE BERCOW!
the jingle when smythe says the doors are unlocked is from "protect and survive" public information films
Yessss! I was waiting for you playing since the announcement of its release
There was never any doubt that he'd play it!
The knife they gave you is actually better because it's speed is FAST. Your DPS is WAY higher !!!
Loved the butterfly knife/balisong model. Not sure what it's referred to as there.
@@lanceuppercut6168 The ingame animations are sick.
@@009fearyeah though I found it funny when it wont stop flailing it around mid dialogue and preventing me from picking an option.
i love the game starting with the 7th doctor getting shot to death, hopefully Paul McGann turns up later in the mod once theyve taken McCoy to the morgue
And Colin Baker got killed by blunt force trauma lol
Having Jon nerd out in Brit references brought many smiles and we are only on episode 1! Seriously, the best way to describe this series is: *happy British noises*
22:47 I’m not even British and loved that touch. If official Fallout followed that kind of pattern of realism, most banks and government buildings (built in the 40s-60s, or in Fallout, any) would also have similar shelters beneath them. Like the bank in my home town that still has the signs on it because it was built in that period.
The auto captions saying shart when you say shard is only adding to my enjoyment of this video 😂
YOOOOO! Uncle Baldermort voices the intro!
My jaw just dropped bro!
I was sooo hoping you'd be doing this play through. Eagerly awaiting the next part!
Note the Guy Ritchie references: Chill Winston, and there will later be a Bullettooth Anthony(Tony)
29:00 Jon explaining the differences in the tube map is peak Jon and exactly what I come here to see
Haha... He spent nearly two whole minutes doing this. I thought I was pretty accustomed to Jon's Britishness. I was wrong. 😂
Skimmed milk has a red cap as a warning to stay away
I love the little details, like how they've renamed cop pins to bobby pins.
I can't believe I was so focused on "Is that Sylvester McCoy?" that I didn't realize the other guy was clearly Colin Baker!
fingers crossed we get a full playthrough. This was lovely.
One of the first things Jon wants is a gun... in London... he expects to just be handed a gun.
They might have changed the Underground map to avoid any potential copyright infringements
I thought there's no way the map for a public transport system is copyrighted. Then I looked and there's a whole page on the transport for London page about licensing and fees. For using a subway map...
Nah, just chalk it up to an alternate universe and don't let it jam your gears like Jon did.
Okay but this is Part 1, right?
Right?
Considering the Pinned comment this is most likely the case
@@RikouHogashiThere wasn’t a comment when I posted :P
He also said at the end that he was gonna do one next week along side ss. Meaning 2 fallout a week now
@@DibsAtraiyu Which is awesome cause for some reason the settlement one didn't catch on for me
Your pleasure at this Fallout mod was understandable as a person who knows the Underground so well. The moment the Wayfarer ended up in Lewisham was when I took particular notice--it was where I visited when I traveled to London. I hope we can see it in the daytime so I can line it up to my memories--even if it is a post-apocalyptic alternate future!
The computers and integrated circuits are an interesting lore addition.
Other fallout games have computers, though it does look like the US may have been slightly behind the curve
After watching your Sim Settlements playthrough, I was really looking forward to seeing you play this when it dropped and you did not disappoint. Can't wait to see more.
the scariest thing about the apocalypse is the Underground map being different lmao
At 36:54 Gaunt mentions a Prilladog Food Factory, I love that little reference to head of Team FOLON and Project Lead as its his username!
Is that me lad Baldimort doing the intro, absolutely epic voice.
I've only visited London once, and not for very long, but I absolutely get that it feels properly Londony. I'm looking forward to seeing the game through your eyes.
"Be Seeing You" 👌 great reference to The Prisoner
Your meltdown over the tube map was so on point I thought my inner monologue had started speaking out loud.
Agent Smythe, when choosing female, Smythe will speak in a female voice, when picking male, Smythe would speak in a male voice...
Something i noticed from watching others videos...
So we taking bets on 1-Smythe is you from the future, or 2-You are a clone of Smythe.
My money's on clone, maybe Smythe is sick (or even already dead and just a brain or uploaded personality) and needs a new body.
It's got real The Prisoner vibes to it - with the jingles and whatnot; also, absolutely love the blowing on the cartridge when plugging it into computers - takes me back to the old Mega Drive days...
Oh no....I was totally on board anyway, then Agent Smythe said "Be seeing you" and all of a sudden I was expecting Patrick McGoohan and the Village.
Opening the game with two of my favourite Doctor's in Colin and Sylvestor playing mysterious scientists is crazy awesome.
And Jon breaks into a round of Mornington Cresent mid video...
loved to see you back in Fallout series Jon!
I loved your fallout 4 survival mode playthrough!
He never left, he has a current series for FO4 Sim Settlements (presumably a separatr install)
