    Wow Lauren, incredible. I'm literally blown away by just how well you communicated in this video. Additionally it was also a great pleasure to meet you and Benny at the conference and now I can strike "appear in a fluent in 3 months youtube video" off the bucket list! :)

    I've been following your channel for a few years now and this has definitely become one of my favorite projects. Every project you do encourages me but watching someone go from being monolingual to being able to communicate in another language in just six weeks is amazing. I also love how you did weekly updates, showing that language learning can be frustrating but it's a process and you'll get better with time. I can't wait to see what Lauren's next language project is, as well as yours!

    Congrats to Lauren! You've done a wonderful job these past six weeks! It makes me want to do a similar challenge with Esperanto! You're going to do great and you WILL be able to speak multiple languages!
    New doors will open for you with each language you learn, Lauren. I can say that from several years of experience learning languages myself!
    And thank you Benny for helping her out through the whole language learning journey!
    Both of you keep doing what you're doing! ;)

    Wow!! You rocked that conference like a champ, Lauren! Watching your struggles and progress in your videos, has really opened my mind and inspired me. I didn't really think I could learn another one, as I start and stop the few I studied, out of discouragement. As a person who only knows one language, it has given me hope that I can learn another language, even at my age and my busy life with my son. Benny, you are awesome in how you encouraged and helped her do this and I am now looking into doing Esperanto myself because of your book and Lauren. Thanks a lot guys, for bringing us along on your journey!

    Incredible. Seriously really impressive. I've been going through French for about a year now and am no where near this level :D I need to up my game!
    Thanks guys for making these videos - it's given me a lot of insight into the whole process :D

      Well she has been doing Esperanto for one hour per day and Esperanto takes about 1/4 to 1/5 the time of French or Spanish.

    • @RobMackay
      @RobMackay 10 років тому +1

      Yup. Still an achievement in my book. I'm rubbish at English! Actually learning French had taught me more about grammar then I've ever known :)

    • @Vevey2004
      @Vevey2004 10 років тому +3

      Rob Mackay ive found that esperanto has done that for me also because the language is grammar coded... if it ends with an -o its a noun, an -a ending means its an adjective, -i an infinitive verb in its basic form, -e an adverb etc so I can see the sentence building as i read, the onky thing i struggle with is that bloody 'n' accusative ending...****dispair***

    • @RobMackay
      @RobMackay 10 років тому +1

      Rob Mackay I would seriously recommend it. Apart from this small journey I've made into Esperanto I only speak English, I tried French and German at school, but that was over 25 years ago and its all now been forgotten. I really love Esperanto and its ideals and culture and although my Esperanto is not great, if you did decide to learn,I recommend you go Lernu.net first and sign up. they have lots of free courses etc, and its a link to the Esperanto community online., Look me up when you get there. My username is Scaramouche73, I'll be keen to follow your progress and help you if I can.

    This series of videos have been verry insperational to me. I injoy languages verry much, but I have a hard time sticking to it; and I end up starting one language and then stopping then learning another. Now I only know bits and pieces that aren't even enough to communicate with. So I ended up learning lingisticts. It's fun, but it would be nice to talk in another language. I've known about Esperanto for a few years now. And since it's a good start for a sencond language, I figured why not start with it. Dankon!

    Keep up the good work,

      It is [sic] in English, which means an error needed to be corrected when writing the captions due to speak inconsistent sounds.

    Mi opinias ke esperanto estas mirakla lingvo. Imagu: usonanino interparolas ku bulgaro post nur 6 semajnoj da studado. yo opino que el esperanto es una lengua milagrosa. Imagina: una estadounidense dalogando con un búlgaro después de sólo 6 semanas de estudio.

    Excellent project! Congratulations to Lauren! I have a question. I grew up as a monolingual person (Spanish). I started learning English after my thirties. Nowadays, I have reached the C1 level in listening skills, and the B2 level in speaking skills after two years of study (starting from scratch). I was spending 2 hours per day (every single day) just listening and reading English (I reviewed some grammar and vocabulary too, especially at the beginning). Now I want to achieve proficiency in English (for academic purposes), but I would like to study Esperanto too. I wonder if learning Esperanto can affect my English (in the bad way). I say that because the Esperanto's structure is so similar to Spanish, and I don't want to strengthen the Spanish networks in my brain. What do you think about that kind of interference? Is it possible? Thanks!

    • @SuperAabbcc123456
      @SuperAabbcc123456 8 років тому +3

      Trust me, it won't affect your English learning capabilities. If anything it might enhance it. Esperanto structure is also very fluid and can be spoken in different forms. It can be similar to Spanish or English if you want.

    • @microtrabecula
      @microtrabecula 8 років тому

      Many thanks for your great comment. I did not realize that you can speak Esperanto with a structure similar to English if you want. I wonder if Esperanto is spoken in different forms depending on your native tongue.

      +microtrabecula you can actually mix the word order completely. Making it SOV or VOS or anything you want.

    Lauren, look into a program called tajpi. It allows you to use the x-system and it automatically corrects the gx or cx to ĝ or ĉ and things like that. If you don't want it to make the autocorrection, you just press x again to make it switch back. :-) I hope I can speak esperanto as well as you some day!

      I don't know if you speak German, but there is this website(www.esperanto.de/de) which has info on Esperanto in Germany. It has a section about local groups(www.esperanto.de/de/ortsgruppen), but I think it's being updated so it's empty now. It says you can get info about some local groups on this page until the update is finished(oficejo.gea.eo.tel/). Also, the German Esperanto Association has a Facebook page here(facebook.com/esperanto.deutschland), maybe someone there can help you.
      I hope you can understand me, and that this helps!
