    I Bought the Haloview RD7 to replace a camera system from Furrion Vision S that had significant drop out issues. Installation was not a problem - powering the camera off the top rear marker light. Swapped out the old mounting brackets for the new ones and ran the transmission cable up to the front of my 26 foot long camper. Mounted the transmitter with liberal amounts of RTV/Silicon.
    Got the monitor hooked up in the cab, powered it up and turned on the marker lights. The camera and monitor paired automatically and provided me a terrific view of my back yard - as expected.
    Finally got to road test it this past weekend on a short camping trip - about 50 miles one way. Camera performed flawlessly the whole way - didn't notice a single drop out and had very little, if any flicker. Decent field of view as well. I can see cars within about 20 feet of my rear bumper and can pick up the entire lane of expressway on either side at about 40 feet back.
    I am VERY satisfied with the performance of this system so far. Big test will be next month with a 1000 mile trip coming up. Looking forward to it.

      Thanks. Its a great extra feature to have. Just camping in state parks you would be amazed at the wildlife that walks around near the camper at night and this allows me to watch then snoop for food.

    I just slip a 3amp fuse across the top two blades of the camper harness and you get the same result, thats all that adapter does but with a switch.

    I just bought a minilite yesterday and bought the vision s rear cam and the mechanic did this same thing by putting a flat fuse in the 7 pin connector and lights lit up camera on etc.

      Yes that is the same concept behind the switch. Only that the switch keeps the connection dry and is easier to use.

    Yay! I was just wondering if they made these kind of power adapters! Love this option for providing additional security around my trailer!
    Would you please add the product links in the comments for your products. I already have the camera , but I had a hard time seeing the description name/product details for both of the adapter cords (at the end of the video, the photos are cut off a bit!). Thanks for sharing!

    Do you think there is any way to use an RV camera in a house? I was just thinking this cuz I only use the RV 2 months of the year and I wouldn't mind a basic security camera at home. Seems like it might be too tricky though.

    • @travelhick
      @travelhick  2 роки тому +1

      Might be too much work installing and uninstalling cams from rv. Plus would need 12vt adapter in house. Home camera system using wifi are very reasonably priced now and would be mucho less work and cost then retro fitting a 12vt system in a residence.

    Is there a way to use this system to observe while driving?

    • @travelhick
      @travelhick  2 роки тому

      Yes that is the original purpose for it. The screen just plugs into the normal 12v socket in your truck. I use mine mostly just for driving and backing up. This was just a way to use it as a security monitor while camping since you can set it to only come on when it catches motion on back or side cameras. Mine caches raccoons walking around often while at state parks. Had one walk up the steps and sit at door like it was waiting for food. Lol

    We don’t have an inverter. If it’s plugged into a 12 volt outlet, why would the inverter need to be on?

    • @travelhick
      @travelhick  2 роки тому +1

      If you can plug direct into a 12vt socket then an inverter is not needed. My camper does not have a 12vt plug so I have to use a converter DC to AC to power the camera inside

  • @joeb.8625
    @joeb.8625 2 роки тому

    So the seven pin connector adapter will work the same if I were to be connected to regular power?

    • @travelhick
      @travelhick  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the adapter basically connects the correct dc wires from your battery to allow the switch to turn on or off the running lights. Works the same connected or not connected to shore power (normal electricity). The shore power only charges the batteries as well as running the AC power circuits in the camper. Just keep in mind that the adapter when on means your running lights are on all night but as you know those are not super bright and unless you are very close to a fellow camper the lights should not bother anyone

    • @travelhick
      @travelhick  2 роки тому +1

      No. The model of furrion that I have does not record but I believe there are other rv cameras that do record. But to any inside the camper is the same principle of having it connected to 12vt inside
