Misty was a very good girl in this hack! For the first canter we split into two groups as there were quite a few of us on the ride, and misty and I were leading the second group. She was very good with the others going ahead but she was definitely keen to catch up! She was fab on the second canter and was a little impatient at the jumps but she knows her stuff which allows me to concentrate more on improving my riding!
For the little canter up the hill after the jumps, I decided to knot my reins and go hands free and she was AMAZING and really listened to my seat when I asked her to slow down. We decided not to canter on the last track that we usually canter on as it is so stony which isn’t good for the ponies’ feet especially Dodger who had lost a shoe earlier in the ride,
Overall this was a really fun, positive ride and I very much enjoyed it!

Hi I'm Charlotte and welcome to my tiny corner of UA-cam, where I post Helmet Cam videos of me horse riding! I don't own any of the horses seen in my videos. I hope you enjoy!

Wishing when the day comes I can finally hack my mare like this, she’s still quite green and we’ve only started getting her used to going out and being around cars, hopefully by next year we are going on hacks like these 😍😂❤️

I had horses before and currently got back in horse riding when I was 10 I got on my cousin horse and it knocked my confidence a lot! Erm I then gave up horse riding because I was honestly scared to ride again cuz that day got me in hospital badly hurt. 4years later I now have shadow which is a (grey) he is very cheeky on the ground but riding he’s good. Earlier I went on a hack and as we was coming back to the yard he had a spoke he jumped and went forward. I have been diagnosed with anxiety (panic attack disorders) so is hard to relax and when he did that I started to panic and my hands and legs were shaking I managed to stop him but still he spoked for no reason. Any tips to stay calm when approached by lorry’s or horses or even tracks I’m not scared to fall off I’m scared to get bolted again. Again I love him but he’s can be strong when he spokes hope you reply soon tysm also love ur vuds new sub x

Darcy Rose I really feel for you as I've had a bit of anxiety in the past (although not horse-related). I'm by no means an expert on things like this and the last thing I want to do is give any 'advice' that ends up making things worse for you. Perhaps you could try and build up your relationship with him on the ground - work to improve his cheekiness and become more confident around each other. Maybe find a local riding school and have a couple of hacks on a schoolmaster, or find an experienced friend or instructor with a calm horse that could go hacking with you? You could even have a parent or instructor walk on foot with you on hacks, for a bit of moral support and perhaps to hold Shadow if he has a spook. As I said before, I don't know much about this sort of thing, and the suggestions I've made are pretty much quotes from magazine articles - Horse&Rider often has excellent articles on confidence building.
I'm sorry I couldn't be much help, but I hope your confidence starts to build again soon and that you can enjoy hacking out with Shadow with as little stress as possible! xxx

      C. Dunc thank you for getting back to me and yes that’s a brilliant idea. Erm Yh I have bad anxiety with everything lol but I be okay I just tense up when a another horse comes near me he has pulled me over before to the other side of the road as he was interested in the grass!! But he’s okay with it now haha (that’s when we first got him) when we viewed shadow we knew it would take a lot of trust as he loves his food and he’s the breed where he is cheeky! He nearly kicked his old old owners in the head as he didn’t want to come out of the field. But tysm for the tips 💓xxxx
