  • THIS DIDN'T GO TO PLAN! | Hack-Turned-Walk!!?? Falling off + Getting Drenched! | Helmet Cam

Well, this didn't exactly go to plan!! This hack started off really well, and Lily was being a very good girl. However when we went towards the first canter track, Lily absolutely refused to go down it, which was really weird. After about 5 minutes of trying to persuade her do go down the track, I decided that I would hop off, lead her for a bit, then remount a bit further down the track, as Lily was getting frustrated and I could tell she was going to rear if I kept on trying!
So, I got off and we walked for a bit, then I tried to get back on - easier said than done! Lily just didn't want to stand still for me (I should've known - she doesn't often stand still to be mounted without someone at her head). I tried a few times, and eventually I tried a bit too hard, Lily span around and I took a nice nose dive off the other side, landing neatly on my face!
So, a little bruised and very muddy, I carried on walking and called my dad to explain why I would be a bit late, and I decided to take a short cut so that I didn't have to walk for an extra couple of miles! I soon regretted this decision as I found myself skirting around very deep puddles, and eventually had to wade through a knee-deep one as there was no way around it, whoopee!!
I have to say though, that although this hack was a bit of a fail at the time, and I was very frustrated at myself for thinking that I could ever get back on by myself, looking back it was absolutely hilarious and I'm so grateful that Lily was so good to lead - as you can see by the end, my spirits are most certainly back up!
I also want to note that this was unusual behaviour for Lily, and I did bring it up to both of my yard managers, who are going to keep a close eye one her. We're really not sure what could've caused her to be so reluctant, as she's usually raring to go for a canter and not fussed when she's out on her own, so we're going to see how she goes, and hope that it was a one-off!

Hi I'm Charlotte and welcome to my little corner of UA-cam, where I post helmet cam videos of me horse riding! I don't own any of the horses seen in my videos. I hope you enjoy!

Hi folks, hope your New Year is off to a great start! I’ve tried out a bit of a new style with this video, to try and make what would otherwise be a dull recording of me trudging along, into something more entertaining and amusing - so please let me know what you think, and whether I should perhaps do it more often? I quite enjoyed giving Lily a little personality outlet 😂

Yeah it was so weird! I showed Sue the video and she thought it was probably a combination of her being out on her own, and the fact that she hasn’t been on that track in ages, which makes sense so fingers crossed that was it and it won’t become a regular thing!! She is certainly a sassy one sometimes but she does make me laugh. Love her to bits bless her 😂🥰

I can’t tell you how much I loved this video! Not just ‘cause it was incredibly entertaining, lol, but it just felt very validating. Like, this is real horse ownership, you know? I think I can get so caught up in the glam influencers, their lives, and their horses that I forget that it’s ok that my horse does stuff like this. It’s not particularly fun at the time, but what awesome memories to smile at later!
I am so grateful for you sharing this video!

Aw thank you so much, it really means a lot!! Yeah I think it’s important to show that, most of the time, things don’t exactly go to plan and that’s just a part of being with horses! So glad you enjoyed it :)

Your poor feet and boots! It was entertaining to watch though and you were very patient- and no language beeped out! I really liked this style of video as it suited Lily's cheeky little face!
