For this tour Devin decided not to use backing tapes (hence the 4 female vocalists) and triggers. Everything you hear on this is being created by the musicians on that stage. He assembled a band of amazing talent. The second guitarist is Mike Kineally, who played with Frank Zappa's band and the drummer is a jazz/prog drummer named Morgan Agren. I was at this show and it was incredible.
I saw Devin in Germany❤ it was among the top 5 shows I've ever been to
The girl in the tutu is Che Aimee Dorval, a wonderful Canadian singer-songwriter who Devin brought in for his 'Casualties of Cool' project.
The live version from Dunlop Studios of them doing 'Mountaintop' is definitely worth a reaction.
And, yes she's absolutely gorgeous as well. 🥰

Genesis was the first track released from his most expensive endeavor of his career. Most folks didn't know what to think. I loved it. This was Dev's first tour ever without his backing tracks. Genesis is over 100 tracks and Diego from Haken was hand firing samples and covering the orchestral parts all night long. This was his opus for his album Empath - he showed the many facets of the album in one song. Please check out Singularity off of the same album. This is just an appetizer for the beauty and the brutality of Singularity.
He's incredible. Seriously incredible.
This show, unless I am missinformed, was done with a selected group of famous musicians and singers and no playback or pre recorded stuff. Old school direct performance. If this is not a super group I have no idea what is.
Devin is a God and together with these other Gods we have seen Olympus prrform.

I didn't know Devin townsend and I went to the show to see the opener on this tour, but Devin's set was the best performance I've ever seen.

The tour got cancelled the day before I was going to see it. I still have the ticket and I'm still bummed to this day. But I got to see him open for Dream Theater a couple months ago. It was a shorter set, compared to him headlining, but my fiancee finally got to see him for the first time. Been a fan since 2009 and I'll stay a fan for life.
@@ericeason7646 I'm really sorry you missed it. I was lucky enough that I got to see it before covid hit.. it was one of those magical shows where you just laugh and cry at the same time as it is just so damn good.
@@velbe I've seen him several times already over the years. Matter of fact, the very first time I saw him in 2010 I got to meet him and talk with him for a few minutes. He was even gracious enough to take a picture with my friend and I even though he and the band were in the middle of breaking down their gear. I was just excited for my fiance to finally see him as I was able to make her a fan. The man is a phenomenal class act and one of a kind.

I saw a show from this tour in Hamburg, Germany. Still one of the best concerts I ever attended. A top band enjoying the playing and a crowd singing along joyfully. 🎉🎶👍🖖
First time I saw Devin was on thin tour. Blown away by everybody on stage. For me this song was the main dish of the night.

I was at this gig! It was my last one before covid :( And probably the best gig I've ever been to, what a night! :)

I was at that show and there was one more song and two encore songs.
The next song ‘Spirits Will Collide’ brought a tear to my eye (and might to yours too).
In terms of Devin Townsend's immense library of tunes, this song is kind of like drinking from a fire hose.
It's a pretty extreme moment in his extraordinarily varied career.
This was NOT the end of the show. It was only like the third or fourth song in the set :P

Devin Townsend more like Dad. Then he listens to the Deconstruction album..... Not so much.
