    FAQ:
    Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. It is in the province of Foggia in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina enjoys making food for her family in the same old fashion ways as she was taught by her mother and grandmother in Italy, and also new things she has subsequently learned from family and friends in America. She also enjoys gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera and behind the scenes?
Grandma Gina’s retired son-in-law, Nick, does the filming, editing, production, and channel management. Her daughter, Maria, helps with food preparation, kitchen setup and fan support. Also, Grandma Gina usually has one or two grand-kids in the kitchen to help.
    Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

I almost cried watching this beautiful video. I used to help my mom make pizzelles every Christmas. She used her old pizzelle iron that you hold over the stove. Always wearing her apron. I still have her pizzelle iron. She passed away two years ago. My heart still hurts. I'm ready to start up our pizzelle tradition, but I think I will buy a pizzelle maker. I was just about to start making my pizzelle today and there was your video. I use anise and anise seed to flavour mine. I've also used orange. My mom made them with manual maker, one at a time, by warming the iron on the stove top burner. Electric is way easier!

    • @lorettaenz4828
      @lorettaenz4828 3 роки тому

Marilyn, I was looking to see if someone makes them like I have done for many years. Yes, I started out with an iron on a kerosene burner and flipping it to the other side. I have one of these electric ones but not with the lights to tell you it's done. I have to watch the second hand on the clock for every pizzelli. I make over a hundred at a time so it takes me hours. I also use make only the anise-orange ones. Fante''s original from Philadelphia. I had never heard of the recipe MaMa Gina made.

Thank you Gina. Pizzelle and Tarelli are my favorites. My mom, god bless her soul, used to make them for my boys, 40 years ago. She would make multiple batches. One big batch, regular and one batch chocolate, she would fill the middle of two pizzelle with ice cream and wrapped them individually and freeze them. After Sunday dinner, my boys would ask for a pizzelle ice cream sandwich. 👍

I put the candied fruit in mine. The kind you use when making fruit cake. I call them stained glass cookies.

I am eating Pizzelle while I am watching this. I buy them at the store but I am thinking about making them. I love your singing . My Grandmother was Hungarian and I remember my Mother singing the songs that they would sing together when she was a little girl. My Mother went to Heaven a couple years ago. Listening to you sing brings back so many beautiful memories.

I love making Pizzelle. I have the same machine and love it. I always lightly grease mine with butter in between each one because I was afraid they would stick, but I'm happy to learn from you that it is not necessary. I also love the idea of adding sprinkles for the holidays. I'm so happy to see you making new videos. You're amazing. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your recipe. My grandmom had an iron where she did one at a time over a gas burner. It was an all day long baking event for her. Now, my machine makes 4 at a time and I can make pizzelles in 1/4 oh the time. Mangia Gina! 🌶🧇🇭🇺

I have been making pizzelles for 30 + years... first with my grandmother then my mother and now with my daughter. I have grandmas pizzelle maker. We have never used oil, always melted butter and anise flavor. I will start making my daily batches in the next week or so...I give them out to family and friends..last year we added cocoa for chocolate pizzelles. They are fabulous. Thank you for introducing these amazing cookies to your viewers..

I was not lucky enough to have her with me to teach me how to cook her old traditional Holiday dishes, but I watch Gina and i am making of making them and think of my mom each time. Thank you so much. :)

Merry Christmas, Nonna Gina & Family. My Mother would make hundreds of these every Christmas in an assortment of flavors. Orange, Lemon, Vanilla, Anise and Almond & being the youngest of 11 children, I would help in wrapping them in bundles to give to friends & family for Christmas gifts. I do not have one of these irons but I will be looking for one to make your wonderful recipe. Many thanks, Sweetheart. Much Love, Marcella & Les Raup
