Watching this helped calm my first day jitters a bit, and fill me with excitement as I enter my first year teaching! My school uses Leader in Me too :)

I love your classroom management with the redirect, sideline, reflection time, and parent contact. What do you do when poor choices happen in the hallway or at recess for example. Situations outside of your classroom? Thank you and have a great start of the school year!

So for the hallway...I sideline to the back of the line. At recess, I have them either take a break for a few minutes or play in a different area.

Great videos. I have been learning a lot from your videos. I will be teaching for the first time (4th grade) this upcoming year. I would like to know how exactly you use that couch. Where do you stand during your lessons? why did you decided to place the couch there, in front of the smartboard? I wanted to have something similar on my classroom but I still don't know how I would use it. I was thinking on adding like a park bench for flexible sitting. Thank you for sharing all this useful information.

So I actually sit in the gray chair when students are at the carpet with me for ELA or Math, unless I'm using my document camera in which I'm sitting there. Or I stand at the Promethean board. I put the couch there so it could be included in our class mini lessons. Most of the time, when I'm teaching, the students are at the carpet and surrounding areas and then they go back to their seats to work.

Do you have your Power points available, I enjoyed the ELA Capitalization slides and the place value

A coworker made the place value slides so I can't share them, but I'm hoping to have the capitalization slides available soon. Send me an email at msrachelvincent@gmail.com and I'll let you know when they are ready.

    Um, Rachel,
Have you taught them Class Dojo? Rules are nothing without reinforcers.
With that said, I enjoy seeing your beautiful looking smiling face.

I get up early and start my day reading and listening to UA-cam videos from different Christian speakers. It helps to focus my mind on things I can control.
