Hi from the UK, I've just purchased my first decent crossbow, it's a Excalibur Assassin 400TD.
I am over the moon with it.
It's fantastic in every way possible.
The R&D that's gone into it is amazing and very apparent.
I've had a few much cheaper less powerful bows in the past, and I am certain I'll never go back from the Excalibur.
Unfortunately hunting in the UK is Ileagal, so I'm just target shooting at the moment.
However with the way the world is going, that might all change.
    All the Best 👍

Hi, I heard you had to replace the string after 50shots, that the limb breaks often and that it's not reliable...
      Can you comment

@@jawalakhel4606 I've heard about some of the scare stories, and I really do think that they are the exception as opposed to the norm.
Besides if something were to break from normal use, Excalibur have a lifetime guarantee on the 400TD.
      Unlike many others.
I've put around 300-350 shots through my Assassin and kept the string waxed, and not had any problems at all.
Other than sending a bolt straight through the archery mat, and into a garden shed.
I'm used to now, but in the beginning I honestly didn't realize just how powerful it is.
It really is a good bit of kit, I won't be looking for anything else for a long time, if at all.
      Regards

Hi from Italy! Very good review! Excuse for my English! It's 12 years I own 2 Excalibur Equinox and 1 Excalibur Exomax, 3 years I own an Excalibur Matrix Mega 405, 1 year I own an Excalibur Micro Nightmare 335. The Mega cracked his limbs after 50 shots only, Excalibur guys replace and sent me the new ones for free. They cracked again altough I mounted the Air Brakes, set the right brace height and shooted arrow 20" long and 510 grains weight! I'm not a hunter and use them just for target shooting. I always loved Excalibur crossbows but I HAVE TO TELL THAT EXCALIBUR MATRIX MEGA 405 IS ABSOLUTE SHIT!

The problem with a recurve crossbow is that those small limbs are more highly stressed compared to a vertical recurve. Leaving them cocked, or even just strung, for an extended period of time can damage the limbs.
Of course, the Excalibur guys may be using new materials that eliminate this problem.

No doubt excalibur had to up the poundage and stress on the short limbs to get the speeds, it’s just a nature of the beast. But I will say we see a much larger limb failure rate out of compound crossbows than we do excalibur. Limb failure is very rare with them!

Polymer Bob.... it does not sound that you are too familiar with the Excalibur Crossbow line... those of us who have shot many in their line of crossbows would take exception to what you perceive as being concerns in your post.
