Super Mario Bros. Special (NES Style, Longplay, No Warp Zones, No Commentary)

What if Super Mario Bros. Special was on the NES instead of the NEC PC-8801 and Sharp X1? Using Super Mario Bros. Crossover, we're able to see what that might have been like. One thing's for sure, it's a heck of a lot more playable with real scrolling and a palette that isn't an eyesore. I did die a lot, but I edited out most of my deaths (especially in worlds 7 and 8 where things got especially tough). I can't imagine doing those tougher levels on the original platforms this game was released on.

check out Super Mario Crossover, but you'd need flash player which isn't available on google chrome, i use fire fox to play, but this is actually a flash game that allows you to play as characters from various franchises such as simon belmont, megaman, link, and more in Super Mario Bros 1, Lost Levels, and Special with multiple art styles for stages.

@@presidentevil9951 Well, fair enough point in general, though that specific area isn't actually a shortcut. There's 3 pipes above ground. The pipe on the left goes to the underground section, and the pipe on the right is where you come out of from the underground section. The only area that's "skipped" is the middle pipe, but since it's seen onscreen both before and after entering the hidden coin area, nothing was actually skipped, and if anything there was far more that was shown off than if I had not gone down there at all.
