I know a gentleman named Ron D. that bought his 69’ 396 hugger orange Chevelle from working the family farm till age 16. I’ve owned my 71’ 454 hugger orange Chevelle since 89’. I believe once you have the best vehicle for you, you’ll never sell it.👍

May the woman who helped preserve this car and its memories rest in peace and may her husband and loved ones find peace. So sad and yet for this family, I'm sure it only makes the car and its memories more cherished.
Excellent job documenting this car. Your videos are top notch and I look at them as a video class on the history of these great machines. Not everyone knows everything about these cars so keep teaching us like you have always done. Very much appreciated!

My father owned a '70 Chevelle SS (second owner) originally purchased from Scuncio Chevrolet in RI (454/450) same blue/white color with black bucket-seat interior and console. I remember sitting in the back seat (around age 7-8 with no seat belt on) when my father swapped seats with my mother one time on the side of the road. He said, "okay, just put it in first and release the clutch slowly", she said, "it's not moving", he said, "that's because the tires are spinning!" He always said that he regretted ever selling THAT car. He should have kept it. I still remember that event to this day - at age 54.

The real magic here is called a garage. A garage is the best thing to ever happen to any car. A garage is also the best extended warranty money can buy 2nd to preventative maintenance .

Patrick, It is a pure pleasure for me to watch your videos. These 70 SS Chevelles pull at my heart strings. Much like this particular situation, my father purchased a 1970 SS Chevelle new in 1970. I was 2 years old at the time and it was our family car driven daily (it was in fact our only car much through the 1970's). We had a family of four; mom and dad and my brother. I unfortunately was hit by a drunk driver in June 1983 while driving the vehicle on a Friday night with two buddies; I was 16 at the time. The car was t-boned and damaged significantly. We were OK, but in those days, the value of these things were nothing like we are seeing today. As a result, dad parted it out; engine/trans/hood, deck lid, etc. He was an auto tech and saving for our college expenses. The car was purchased new at Feld Chevrolet in Bridgeton, Mo. and was a KC plant car. Silver, black stripes, auto on the column, no air, L34, cowl induction, 3.34 posi rear end. My father is still alive and let him know about your videos. I will own a 70 SS Chevelle one day. It is part of my heritage. Sorry to hear about mother, wife, and loved one that was part of this car's history and the family! God rest her soul!

When I was a kid in the early 80s around 80-84 my friends mom drove a 70 454 ss chevelle, it was green metalic if I'm not mistaken with a white interior. We called it the rocket cause she could lift the front wheels. A few years ago we talked with her about it, she said she paid around 2k for it and at that time was alot of money for them. Nobody wanted them because of the fuel mileage. Around 1984 she bought another car and my father was going to buy it from her for 1000k a few days before the deal the car was stolen from her garage. Just thought I'd share.

Its nice to live in a dry climate. I bought a 70 Chevelle with SS stripes in Sept 1970, kept it 14 years in Michigan winters. It stayed real solid as it was Ziebarted the day I took delivery. In 1984 when I sold it, nobody wanted a 14 year old car. I finally sold it for $300, keeping the wheels and rings. Got them sand blasted and repainted, and sold them to a Camaro guy for $375. Wish I still had the car!

I too have a 70 Chevelle that my great grandfather bought new in Chicago. It isn’t as original now though. I pull it out of the garage on weekends and some week days. Anyways
Sometimes he parks this car in the front lawn. Very beautiful indeed.

Like finding your videos on Chevelle finds. We still have our 70 SS, original drive train, engine, etc. Has about 60K miles now. We purchased Jan 26, 1972 used with around 10K miles on it. So had for 47 years. Red with black stripes L34, G80, G94, M21, A51, D88, F41, J50, U14, ZL2, Z25 and D34 for just a few listings plus. Have original build sheet and sales info from dealer. Lots of fun in our youth but few years ago had a frame off repaint. Now just car shows and even made a 1st in an AACA event. Keep finding them, fun to see the ones people kept for so many years!

Awesome car. I know they enjoyed it . Those lugs drove me crazy when I worked at an auto repair facility in the early 80's. My Trans Am also had them on the Pontiac Rally II wheels. What usually happened to them is that shops using the air guns to remove them would cause the covers to loosen. Then moisture would get between the cover and the steel nut and rust would make them swell. A poor design by GM that looked good but didn't hold up. We had to chisel many a cover off and then replace with a solid one piece chrome lug. No dealership or auto shop was going to take the time to remove these lugs by hand.

Its amazing that the owner had the foresight to keep this car and keep it original as possible, you just dont see these anymore!!

My first car was a 71 Chevelle with a 307 in it and I drove the piss out of it! They really are great cars. I can only imagine driving a 396 engine car! Whew! A real beauty, if you ever sell take it to a big auction house.

Very nice and clean overall for an original and original owner from original purchase. I’m sure they’ll pass that down til the world ends. 👍🏼

That's a beautiful Chevelle, nice job showing it. You sure know Chevelles. Very impressive! P.S. $100 bucks a piece for those lugs, are you kidding ? I think I have a few of those somewhere in the garage. Thanks for another great vid.

Yes but they must be new in the original GM box. Then you will have no problem getting 100.00 for a single lug.

Your in my neck of the woods in West TN. That is a gorgeous Chevelle! It has an awesome story, but it broke my heart to see what happened to the wife. That is terrible. Love seeing my dream cars in all your videos bud. Keep em' comin!

OMG my dream car. I've wanted a fathom blue/white stripe '70 chevelle all my life! Hope I find one this nice someday! If I were to change one thing I'd do buckets instead of a bench but if a bench seat car is all I can find then I'll take it!

Reminds me of the couple from Orange Ca. Original owners called Jungle Rat, cause owner worked at Lion Country Safari, wife used to race it at Orange County Raceway. 70 SS Chevelle, still owns it also.

I Had a '72 Chevelle that I got rid of after I came back home from Army basic training back in 1994. I wish I had it back, I wish I could find it. I only hope that somebody has fixed it up, and it's at car shows these days. I wouldn't mind if it was on the drag strip just so long as it's not rusting away somewhere. If I had kept it I would have owned it for 29 years. Maybe I'll own another one someday.

American Capitalist looking for my dads 77 transam, pretty much the story of the car is almost like corvette summer. I have title for it any everything, documentation of him and his high school friends restoring it on some old film. Hope I can get it to him before he passes. I don’t even know if it’s even in this world but I can only hope. He told me he can still hear the sound of it to this day and would be able to identify it just on that.
