Uto-Aztecan is a prominent family of indigenous languages in the Americas, encompassing over thirty languages primarily found in the Western United States and Mexico. Its name reflects its inclusion of both the Ute language from Utah and the Nahuan languages (also known as Aztecan) from Mexico. This language family ranks among the largest in the Americas in terms of speakers, languages, and geographic spread. It's commonly divided into northern and southern branches, correlating with the languages' locations in the US and Mexico respectively, though debate persists on whether this classification is genetic or geographical. The homeland of Uto-Aztecan languages is believed to be in the Southwestern United States or Northwestern Mexico.

We tend to act as if Mexico (and Mesoamerica) and the United States are two different parts of the World, but North America is a vast half of a continent, with culture meeting and interacting. In this case, we even see many cultures being related to each other
They aren't the same but they aren't all that different either. It's like France and Germany, both similar but also different cultures and lineage, all are valid & distinct.
There definitely are similarities, one of the cultural/genetic connections between Mexicans and Central Americans is through their Indigenous population. For example in the pre-columbian era the Nahuas migrated from Mexico all the way down to Costa Rica. My grandpa was from a Nahua Nicarao community in Tola, Nicaragua and my DNA test traced alot of my Native American ancestry back to central and southern Mexico.

@@KingMacuilmiquiztli we also share the Spanish heritage. Not only we can travel to each other's countries without having to change language (as Spanish is the lingua franca) but also most Spanish settlers that went to Central America came through Mexico (alongside allied natives like the Tlaxcaltecs)

my dad is from southern Sonora, mayo and yaqui, is still spoken, you could hear a public radio station around that area, or when going to downtown Obregon or Navojoa, you could hear people talking these languages, usually people that go to these cities for shopping and trade their products.
I got a fun idea... The words "corn🌽", "avocado🥑", "wind💨", "flower🌸" and ""house🏡" in each of these languages
So beautiful! Thank you so much. I have some ancestors who spoke Nahuat or Pipil. In my native dialect of Spanish, there is an abundance of borrowings from that language and it rings forth from the mouths of the people when they speak the names of certain towns and villages even though they have no idea what they are saying. It always warms my heart to hear it spoken. Tazocamati! 🙏
I had of Shoshone and Nahuatl, Nahuatl in Mexico was once spoken by the Aztecs in the Aztec empire

Makes me sad how we will never know how their Carribean counterparts native languages sound. I have a theory their languages probably developed differently due to the seafaring culture. Kinda like Mainland vs Maritime Southeast Asia
Nahuatl/ Aztec / Mexican Language Is Very Beautiful And Cool. I Pray and Ask The Mexicans That They Only Learn And Speak Nahuatl In The Future. Because Please Don't Get Me Wrong, It's Not Meant To Be Mean Or Rude And With All Due Respect. The Spanish Language Is Also Very Beautiful, But It Is A European Language, Not An American One. There Are Many Native American Languages And Peoples, But The Aztecs / Mexica Have The Strongest, Fastest, Smartest, Most Skillful, Wisest, Best, Most Powerful, Bravest, Greatest, Highest, Supreme, Most Successful, Most Gifted, Most Experienced and Most Important Empire In Mexico And Central America. The Aztecs Are My Favorite American People Of All. In Addition, Mexico Comes From Mexika, An Aztec Word. The Spaniards Who Unfortunately Conquered Mexico And Banned This Wonderful Language And Culture Is A a Very Great Injustice And Impudence. Their Ancestors And Descendants Who Are Responsible For This And Continue To Support It Should Be Very Ashamed Of Their Cruel Acts And Some Are Still Following This Trend Should Stop Immediately And Leave The Native Americans Alone And Their Language And Culture. If I Were President Of Mexico I Would Ban The Spanish Language In Mexico In Schools And Public And Everyone Should Learn And Speak Nahuatl. Because If I Want To Speak, Learn And Enjoy Spanish, I Go On Vacation To Spain / Europe. Because I Want To Go On Vacation To Mexico Next Year And I've Learned A Lot Of Nahuatl On The Internet And When I Move To Mexico And Live There I'll Learn Nahuatl By Heart Out Of Respect And Honor For The Mexican People. Because Mexico And All America Belongs To The Native Americans / The True Americans. Because This Is Your Country. ❤️🇲🇽❤️
Man, there were, and still are dozens of native Mesoamerican languages in Mexico, originating from different language families (or sometimes being language isolates), like Otomi, Totonac, Yucatec Maya, Purepucha and many many others. Wishing that only Nahuatl should be spoken in the future by Mexicans, just because it's the most popular one, isn't a right approach.
It irritates me how people are howling about Nahuatl being the Mexico's "real tongue" while forgetting about a lot of smaller languages of that region. Some of them are much more endangered even than Nahuatl.

I will never get over the beauty of the native american languages. Uto-Aztecan is one of my favorite families, along with Algonquian and Inuit. There's just something about them.

Many of these have been replaced with Spanish, a good chunk of them are in Mexico. They still exist tho and are surviving quite well, at least some
