If I remember correctly, I subscribed to your channel after watching your review for this lens. I then bought it used from UA-camr Jason Vong in a random craigslist encounter. I know that's irrelevant but for some reason, I felt like mentioning it 🙂. Anyway, I only used the lens a few times because I bought it in early 2020 and I haven't had many shoots with it since. And yes, I eventually noticed dust inside of the lens (aka Dusty Nuts). I initially thought that the Dusty Nuts came from Jason Vong, and maybe it was a bad lens that he had sold me. But I remembered taking time to inspect it prior to purchasing it so I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. After some research, I found that it was a universal problem on all of these lenses. Then I quickly found a solution on UA-cam. All you need is a credit card and a +000 JIS screwdriver. I was able to buy it in a cheap Amazon set for $14.50 (Let me know if anyone would like the link. I don't want this comment to get flagged as spam). I was able to open it, clean it, and put it back together all in about 10 minutes. I was nervous but in the end, everything worked flawlessly. Now I don't mind keeping the lens since I know that I can take 10 minutes to clean the dusty nuts every few months. But yes, I agree that Sigma should either recall the lens or offer some sort of compensation. But since I bought it used, I'm assed out, so I'll just keep cleaning it myself. If anyone is interested in trying to clean their dusty nuts by themselves, just search for this video on UA-cam: lens Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN . How to remove, clean dust from inside.

The problem may be this ... I read a lot of things about this lens in several forums, and I saw all the cleaning videos about her on UA-cam. And I also saw some reviews talking about that some users removed these metal parts, and they had no more dust problems. I realized that in one of the lenses had only one piece of metal, in another video they had two. I believe that these parts are to calibrate the front element in relation to the rest of the lens, and they probably leave spacing for dust. Anyone there who has removed these pieces noticed some depreciation in the quality of the photo?

You need to use protection, if you dont want Dusty Nuts. I read that using a protector filter will protect you from dust inside the early models of this lens. Looking at the clean up videos, the dust is getting in at a gap caused by spacers. There are two places where the dust can get to that point. 1) The front ring which is just wedged in. A filter would stop dust from entering that way. 2) The back of the front element holder. I put electrical tape on mine, if you are brave'r, you can put some sealant around the back of the ring. 3) The final alternative would be to remove those spacers when you take the lens apart for cleaning, but the spacers must be there for a reason?
The dust is from the extension tube extending and retracting. I’m not going to buy a sharp lens and then slap a shitty piece of glass on the front. Uv filters are trash and shouldn’t be on the front of good glass..
@@mrwashur1991 The dust is coming in from the back of the front lens element holder. Unfortunately, the first runs of this lens were just not sealed there.

@@nVuFilms I preordered this lens when it first came out and had one of the early versions and yes, mine was a dusty mess. There is a fix for this. I got this fixed from Sigma in Ronkonkoma, NY for free under warranty. They cleaned all the dust and added some seal and replaced the ring on the lens where the serial number is. You actually end up with a new serial number after the fix and it's documented on the work order. Haven't had any issue with any dust since. If you have an earlier dusty copy and purchased it from an authorized Sigma dealer and have the receipt, they will fix it under warranty.

I really like that sigma Art offer extra 24-28mm, smother focusing rings (cuz I like to manual focus from time to time) and extra buttons... is it worth over its dust problem(which can be solved with always-on uv-filter and for the most time I'll use f2.8-5.6 anyway), weight and size?
@@nVuFilms Thank you for the reply! The only thing I'm a bit skeptical about sigma 28-70 is that its not fully dust/water resistant and its relatively new.
Could it be that you're having dust issues with the Sigma lens due to the *nature* of the extending lens barrel? Perhaps your Sigma primes negated this problem because their lens do *not* have a barrel that extends?
Dust is a common problem with this lens, it's not a cheap budget lens so when you are parting with €1000+ of your hard earned money you expect the lens to be sharp, accurate focusing and NO F@#king dust. Sigma need to recall these lens and refund not offer free cleaning

Bro thanks for this btw do you know if the sigma 3'0s that they released for the sony line is any better at not letting dust go in the lense?
The sigma thrio:
56mm f1.4
30mm f1.4

Help please! with anyone who has had any experience.
These are good

Pubic hair dandruff lol. I’ll try to avoid dust with my version of this lens.
I hope so man
Thanks for the video. Helped me to withstand the purchase. Too bad though :-(
Does anyone know if the new Sigma 28-70mm has the same dust issues as this lens (Sigma 24-70mm Art lens) ?
Do they not cover the DN under warranty?
No
@@nVuFilms I preordered this lens when it first came out and had one of the early versions and yes, mine was a dusty mess.
So I'm really stuсked, which standard zoom lens would you recommend now? Considering that in my region Tamron 28-75 ($780) vs Sigma 24-70 ($1500) vs Sigma 28-70 ($1100) and I'm using Sony a7c pretty much all of them going to be front heavy.
28-70 sig
@@nVuFilms Thank you for the reply! The only thing I'm a bit skeptical about sigma 28-70 is that its not fully dust/water resistant and its relatively new.
@@alexandereremin8483 do the Tamron then. Better weather sealing and cheaper
and I thought the Tamron had it bad, jeezzz sigma
👀👀
Are Tamron lenses packed with dusts as well? Ie: F2.8 24-70 G2?
@@sonicvboom I've got a few in the front element that hasn't ever effected even stopped down to f11 (g1)
That’s why I just ordered Samyang 24-70
Damn.. only reason why i didnt go for a Sigma 24 - 70 is cause sigma lenses are heavy AF. I went with the Got Money lens even tho im broke as hell 😂
dang, the more I see on the more I better save up for the Sony GM. I am still looking at one of the Sony cameras and will need glass too. Dang.
🤣
Dusty nuts 😭
Dust scares me when it come to lenses and sensors lol
👀🤣
Could it be that you're having dust issues with the Sigma lens due to the *nature* of the extending lens barrel? Perhaps your Sigma primes negated this problem because their lens do *not* have a barrel that extends?
Dust is a common problem with this lens, it's not a cheap budget lens so when you are parting with €1000+ of your hard earned money you expect the lens to be sharp, accurate focusing and NO F@#king dust.
Sigma need to recall these lens and refund not offer free cleaning
So what was the truth about the dust problem ???
Click baited 🙈😂
Thank you.
I wanna see this sigma vs the new Samyang
Sold mine but yep dusty. Sold because I switched camera brand.
This video shows how to take it apart for cleaning. Doesn't look too hard. Might just be a maintenance need for this lens, like cleaning your sensor. ua-cam.com/video/ogA1YFlsCeY/v-deo.html
That’s not gud. I got mine after your recommendation

I just ordered Deez Nuts lens.
i do have a lot of dust in this len too. hahah
nice dusty nut lenses you have, my sigma 24-70mm have dust but not that much like yours lol
"DN no longer stands for Deez Nuts"
::heart sinks::
🤦♂️😂😭😭
DN stands for dusty nuts hahaha
So far so good with the 28-70, maybe sigma learned their lesson, knock on wood.
👀👀
Maybe you shoot in a lot of dusty nut locations😂
Yea since weddings are so dusty
Dusty nuts!! 🤣🤣
lol
@@nVuFilms Vu- I might have missed it.. if you’ve addressed this in other videos but aside from the weight, size & price of the 24-70GM, what don’t you like about it??
@@KeepingThisTech that's it. It's just bigger and heavier.
The pubic hair dandruff leaves a bad taste in your mouth?
👀
It not your fault it sigma problem
Dis dust! :))))
Well clean your gear more often idk what to tell you bruh
I do. I can't clean dust inside the effing lens. No other lens I own have this kind of dust
