I’m not a pumpkin dessert fan. My wife loves pumpkin desserts. I’m going to make this for her. She is going through chemo right now and I think this will cheer her up. Thanks Tipper and Corey.😊
How special of you to make something for your wife that you are not fond of. My husband did the same for me when I was going through cancer treatments 20 years ago. He was such a blessing. We are now 77-78 and celebrated our 55th anniversary. Prayers for healing and a long, loving marriage for the two of you. Nana and GranPa in Texas
My mom has made this every year since I can remember. 50+ years at least. I'm with you....forget the nuts! She uses walnuts, but will make one for my brother and me without any. She bakes it on parchment paper and rolls it in a tea towel, but she dusts the towel lightly with powdered sugar. After it's all done, she sprinkles just a bit more powdered sugar on the top. Makes it pretty and tasty!
That's exactly how I make mine for about 45 years. I like to use the flour sack dish towels. They are smooth and never a speck of lint. I recently ordered a dozen of them from amazon.
That's the way I made it, too. It's easier for me to sprinkle a cotton dish towel with powdered sugar and roll up towel and all, until it cools completely. I think it helps keep the cake from cracking that way, too. I guess it doesn't matter, because it's still good no matter how it's made.
I grew up in a house in Dallas, Texas, with exactly that style of kitchen cabinets. The house was built in the 1920s. It has since been torn down. Seeing your kitchen makes me a little homesick.
I had a friend that always made pumpkin roll to share with me at Christmas. She's no longer with us and I've never made it but your demonstration made it look easy. Thanks for sharing.
I love how the fourth wall just disappears at the end of the video. It is absolutely charming, adorable and authentic. Authentically southern 🌻🌼🌸🌺🥀🌷🌹🍁🍄🐚🌾💐 much love from coastal NC!
This was absolutely my wife’s grandfather’s favorite thing in the world and I liked it too! Great memories! From Morganton, North Carolina. But I grew up in Bristol, Abingdon and Glade Springs Virginia! Mom’s family was from Poor Valley between Abingdon and Lebanon Virginia and Dad’s from Glade Spring. Your videos bring back so many great childhood memories from my grandparents and great aunts and uncles! Thank you for keeping these recipes and traditions going!
My nana always made pumpkin roll around this time of year. I made my first attempt this year and told my kids all about it. She passed away before they were born so it was a nice way to share that memory
I make 2 of these pumpkin rolls every year It's my oldest son's favorite 😋. This year he is deployed so this year I'll wait until he gets home to make it. We have 9 more months to wait. Love your video's. God bless.
Yeah i am from Colorado and my ex us from Indiana. I love your family videos. Reminds me of my mother in-law. Good cooking, Good food, Family and God are first. Thanks for the great content. plus I make what you show. Thank you
The pumpkin roll looked so good! My husband grew up eating them. His mother made "yellow cake" with pineapple preserves or grape jelly in them. So good. But I have never been brave enough to make one. It looks easy! She would roll hers up with powdered sugar on it in a tea towel. Then unroll it, remove the towel and put in the filling. Looked so complicated! Thank you for showing a much easier way. 🧡💛🍂🍁💛🧡
Looks delicious! I always put a tea towel over mine before I roll it and let the towel do a lot of the help in rolling. Yours came out perfect though….and yes you can always impress with this haha !!! I just love your demonstrations …thank you so much!
I also use a towel. I sprinkle it with a bit of flour to help keep the cake from sticking to the towel; it brushes off easily. I'll use cocoa powder if I'm doing a chocolate one.
@@CelebratingAppalachia I use tea towel with dusting of confectioners sugar to roll up in but its on a different kind of cake roll but I bet would work nicely. Yours came out fine, though.
2 days ago A friend of mine said that she loves pumpkin rolls. I asked what is a pumpkin roll and today you showed me! I am no longer in the dark and will be making pumpkin rolls real soon! Thank you!😘
I do love me some pumpkin roll! Yes, it does taste like fall.....I just love fall , with all the sights, food, the flavors, aromas.....just everything! Thanks tipper ....God bless y'all....🙏
Tipper, you need to publish a cookbook! I have made many of your recipes and loved them all. I even made your wild violet jelly..thank you for all you do.
When I think of Fall I think of pumpkin roll. I am anxious to try your recipe, your roll looks delicious. I just made your Black Walnut Cookies for the first time, they amazing….they are now one of my favorite cookies, thank you Tipper for sharing the recipe with us.
Yum Yum!!! I have this same recipe!!! I got it from a 4-H fundraising cookbook. My entire family loves it. There Y'all are in N.Carolina & we're way down here in Texas. Who'd a thunk??? Great recipe Tipper!!! 💘
This is my sons favorite dessert but I’m too lazy to roll it. So we just cut pieces from the sheet pan and have it like cake. Thanks Tipper for the demonstration. Fall is certainly in the air when you make pumpkin desserts!!
It's that time of year for sure! Flavors & smells of pasts last bounty. Gathered family favorite dishes with a touch of gossip if anyone will share. Lots of laughing kids mostly bc I was one at the time.
My favorites are chocolate meringue pie and persimmon pudding. But pumpkin rolls and pies and what not are right up there too. Pumpkin stuff is essentially holiday time sweets to me too!
Tipper, very nice video. Your second bite had a bit more gusto than the first dainty one. Sure looks great. Only thing missing is a hot cuppa. Here this one is on me. ☕ We had 70 degrees today here in Missouri. I like it just a bit cooler.😊❤😊
Having the towel to roll it in makes it easy and prevents a lot of cracking. Instead of staining a towel up I bought a pillowcase at the thrift store and cut the end and one side out to use for a towel.
I used your pumpkin roll recipe for Thanksgiving and it was so much better than the one I’ve always used. Everyone loved it. It’s definitely my new recipe. I saw that you’re writing a cookbook! I am so excited to have one. I love your channel❤️ Your family is such a beautiful family.

Tea towel? That sounds British. Here in the south (southern Michigan) we call them dish towels and use them to dry. We use dish rags to wash dishes with. Your pun'kin roll looks GREAT!
I love that! I was always cheated out of Pumpkin Stuff ,as a child, cause my Mom hated anything Pumpkin!!!. i had to even save up and buy my own Pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas!
This is the week my girls and I start making our pumpkin rolls. I like to make several and share them with some elderly folks at church on Tuesday night. I love pumpkin roll - it just says Fall. I enjoy making this too. I use a tea towel dusted with powdered sugar and roll while it is still really warm. After cooling & filling I dust a little more sugar on top. I haven't made this but once or twice since my children left home. This year might be different.
I love pumpkin rolls and that looks like a good 'un! I love how you always scrape every bit of the ingredients out of the bowls when you cook. Waste not, want not! 😉
Brings back so many good memories! My mother made many, many of these same pumpkin rolls over the years. I'd go off my diet right now to eat a big piece! TY
I really love the mixing bowls you have. They remind me of bowls maybe my Momma had when I was little. And this desert looks totally amazing. A good dessert for this time of year. Happy Thanksgiving Tipper.
That looks so good, I can almost smell it! Tipper, you are such a wonderful cook and I think it's because you love to cook for your family and I know that your family appreciates it!
