Really looking forward to that Steve. This one was the first one where I discovered the chip had failed, I accidently stumbled upon it but I'll take that as a win lol
I remember when I started learning from you about 18 months ago. Today I'm now doing a lot of electronic repairs, trace work, god-mode type repairs. I tried reaching out a few times because I'm local to you. But non the less, just wanted to say a thanks.
Lots of guys would want to hide that information but you being the person you are, you are glad to share your knowledge. Yours kids already have the best Christmas present!!! The PS5 is just a bonus gift!!!
Thanks man, the kind words mean a lot. Knowing people are benefiting from my videos gives me a great sense of accomplishment and I'm glad to share what I learn
A lot of repair shops would have dubbed this a no fix not because they aren't skilled enough to figure it out but because they are unwilling to commit the amount of time you do. I understand from a business perspective it makes sense to pump through the easy ones and reject the difficult ones when they pay the same. But they miss out on opportunities like this. Wow! You love your work and it shows.
Awesome work mate, i have only just really discovered your work and i love the way u approach repairs, unlike some repairers lately that just don't go in depth with these fixes anymore that ive started noticing? and are just looking for the "too easy" repairs just to get some likes/views. I will be following you more often now cheers for the inspiration for me to get back into the repairs again too.
I have a digital one, i can get the light to come on for literally just a second then it turns back off idk what to do about it. Its getting power, but not turning on.
I don't to be honest unless it's a device I haven't worked on. I generally just know where they go. You can get a magnetic mat from iFixIt though which you can use to place screws in an organised location
Having this exact same issue on a EDM-031 board. I often replace ports and ICs but I can't fault find like you do buddy! Any idea where I should be looking for 3.3v? Weirdly enough, this all started after a port replacement that appeared to be successful. I left it running and returned to find the console off 20 minutes later. It doesn't power on but after 30s or so plugged in, the power button beeps once per 30/45s and the eject always beeps, but no lights. I'd be very greatful if you, or anyone here could help me locate it. Thanks!
I JUST experienced this issue. I went back in to open up the PS5 and I cleaned that chip with alcohol 91% and I also recleaned my hdmi port. There is also a big flex cable next to the power cable. I took that out and reseated that and my console turned on. Not sure wth happened here but it resolved my issue. I hope this also helps someone out there.
My ps5 have the same problem soon I play a game for 15 minutes and then turn off then turn on with an error message it overheats my one do love the videos
Hey Phil did you see the vid about the new PS5 from Japan Austin Evens got hold of one and took it apart and found the heatsink to be may smaller than the first on?
Yeah I saw that one mate, they just over engineered the first revision to be honest so that's just a cost saving measure. I don't think it should make any difference
This PS5 is missing the special sponge on the APU... it was opened before. Idk how you didn't saw it. @ 10:29 It has just the other black layer under it.
Yeah I knew it had been opened before, it died after a hdmi repair and the other place who worked on it removed that foam but the foam isn't really needed to keep the console safe
@@TheCod3r Yeah, but you mentioned that the liquid metal is not enough. I mean it's because was opened before. Idk :D I thought it's first time when this console is getting opened and it's like that from the factory. Btw I'm really liking your new setup and place. :)
@@borisdg nah the ps5 had been worked on before but it looks like they didn't apply enough liquid metal. The sponge cover isn't really needed though to be honest to stop the liquod metal from spreading because it still has the plastic cover over it
@@TheCod3r One question for you. Do you happen to have the name of the IC? I tried looking it up online on iFixIt's teardown pictures it wasn't named in their list.
I took classes on electronics, but cant even come close to him. If i can only go back and learn all components and learn how they work. I too probably can be doing this to fix my consoles.

Thanks mate. Yeah some technicians just want quick turnover but this kind of diagnosis and the fault finding process is what I really enjoy
You're killing it bro.
Thanks mate
State of the art !!
Thanks for the video, keep up the good work mate !
Some people have a natural talent good work 👏 🙌 👍

Yeah a lot of channels are becoming like that to be honest mate. Hopefully I keep things exactly as they are now 😄
Great work! Always a great feeling when stuff comes to life again!
Definitely, it makes it all worth it

Where can we get the chip that you changed ?
i notice the capacitor under the hdmi pin is missing whats the function of that cap
I need the name of the IC?? Or a link to buy it please. ASAP
Just another beautiful fix👍
Thanks mate
got in a ps5 when i plug in the power cord gives two beeps power supply is good you ever seen that before?
Great Work man!!!
Thank you 😊
Do we know what chip this is? (Part number). Nice work Phil.
how do you keep all the screws organised when your taking it apart

Great work mate!
Would the components from the ps4 slim fit on the ps5 (IC Chips) ?
Greetings from austria

Yes you're awesome 💪,now subscribed to Wayne!
Thanks mate
Hey i am so confused as to which brand liquid metal i need for the ps5? Its gallium i believe.
Which bench power supply are you using?
Hey I just watch this and my ps5 just stop on me the other night it will beep but won’t cut on you think that chip is my issue to
so if that little cap is missing from right behind the port the machine will still work fine ?
Yeah it'll be perfectly fine

Nice work! Looks like they have an issue with the 3.3 volt regulator design.
Yeah definitely. It's the second one I've come across now
Well done sir very interesting
Thank you 😊
Very good job 👏 👍 👌

It sounds like your fan may have failed or it's blocked and needs servicing

You in attic ? If so is it permanent , what happened to shed ?
I'm not sure what I'll be doing moving forward but for now I am in my attic. It was too cold outside lol
Weres best place to get hold of doner boards for consols
I generally just come across them as I get consoles I can't fix. I buy them from the customer usually but ebay is a good place to find them
Good fucking work dude. The reaction at 57:32 is the exact reaction I had after fixing a no wifi issue I had at work on a Chromebook. :D
Thanks mate, honestly these are the moments that make it all worth it for me

@@MenaAzer yeah it's a TLV62090RGTR, a 5v to 3.3v step down regulator :)
My console is beeping 3 times upon plugging it in, does nothing when buttons are pressed..I checked the power at the board, it showed 12v.
Are you in the loft now mate ?
Yeah mate I've moved the workshop to the loft for the winter lol
Are tho ps5 from the one day releases
Yeah these are the first release PS5 as far as I know mate
just subbed on Waynes...
Thank you mate 😄
Subed
Awesome thank you 😊
WoW,!
If u fix one more ps5 console let me know so I can buy one please
The consoles I fix are customer devices. It's very rare I get to buy them from customers
please give me ps5 mainboard Schematics
First
You lose 😂

Question is can you fix consoles with just a multimeter? Heat gun and soldering skills. And then buy the other stuff.
