Just feel like someone reading specs but didnt ride the bikes. I have a transalp and a friend has the new africa twin. We both disagree with most of this review. He had the dct and its a dog compared to the transalp. Seat height are exactly the same and rider position feels almost identical. This is propaganda to promote the africa twin. For most people the TA is better since the AT feels like a heavy pig. Also its lack of all the extra electronics that the AT has is not a big deal except for no cruise control. The AT is a good bike but he paid double for it. Not worth 20k.
In recent years I’ve owned the AT and now own the Transalp. The AT is a beautiful bike and better looking. In terms of performance the Transalp is lighter and about the same BHP so acceleration is similar. The Transalp is easier to live with and not as heavy to manoeuvre at slow speeds. For one person riding the Transalp is everything you’ll need and is comfortable and more than powerful enough for most everyday driving conditions. In terms of price the Transalp is considerably cheaper than the AT and with extras added to it is now perfect for my requirements. Both are excellent bikes so it’s a matter of choice !
imagine if only the africa twin had a weight of 150kg... my god it would have blown up the adventure bike market and a dream for many many many riders would come true
"significant more power with 105nm".. Torque is not power. Torque in combination with speed/rpm is power. The power to weight ratio is almost exactly the same for the two bikes (Transalp Eurp specs)..
I ve done 6000mi on my Africa Twin so far so good. As a long time racer and never had a road bike just road racers & MX racers. My only gripe it it stalls without warning & quick re-start or 3 then problem goes away. OffRoadExperience
They are different level bikes,, it's like comparing CG500X to Transalp 750 to African Twin. Each has it niche, the most nimble, greatest range, and reliable the CB500X or now NX500. The most versatile with lowest center of gravity and return on your buck for features is the Transalp 750, The most powerful, heavy, best suspension on and off road, all the options the African Twin but also top heavy .
Hi, Not only one thing hurts as you said Cruise Control, the 2nd one is Tube Tyres. It should have come with Tubeless Spokes too which are refraining me from buying this motorbike.
Yeah, it has really shaken up the already oversaturated ADV market when it arrived like 10 years late with nothing new whatsoever worth mentioning... :D
This sounds like computer generated comparison. This guy didn’t ride either one of the bikes.
my feeling too
the guys are professionals in moto ... but they speak german
where are the original clips from???

Everything aside Africa twin is hands down most beautiful adventure bike ever made ❤❤❤
Absolutely ❤
Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder! It depends on what you've been drinking

The tri colour trans is a looker in the flesh , and is $5000 cheaper in Australia

Agree. Love my TA.
Lack of cruise control and tubeless tyres in the transalp are the two major issues that make me lean towards the AT…
The African Twin is the tallest bike I've ever sat on. I would love to see a comparison between the Transalp and the Triumph Tiger 850.
Seeing the Africa Twin in person, it's a huge Sequoia of a bike. I'm 6' and the Transalp fits me perfectly...

I simplify this comparison easily. IF THE PRICE WILL BE SAME (around 10k) THEN YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT WOULD YOU BUY !!! The rest goes into the shadow
IF they only made an Africa Twin 500, they would have the entire market in their hands
I don't think so... From one extreme to the other... I think 600-800 version as Transalp would be perfect but then what to do with other bike
The Transalp is a nice motorcycle, but the Africa Twin is a total motorcycle, in the 1100L version for 2024, perfect.
domo arigato Mr. Roboto
Trans alp for me ❤❤

What year Africa Twin are you taking about?
I have not ridden either but sat on both. Moving then under me the Africa Twin felt lighter.
Cruise control on the bike is for guys who would rather be pillion than rider.
“The transparency for the front wheel is at a really good level” WTF does that mean? 😂 yeah great review that made my choice…

How is the engine seat and saddle comfort between the two

PS: The cruise control is priceless, the TransALp MUST have one
Transalp manages to look cheap....then again,it is
is that AT 2018 version ?
its new gen 2020-2024
