Fantastic series, thank you PhysioQ and Dr. Ahn for providing this content and making it openly accessible. I've watched most of the HRV videos on youtube, and this series is by far the best content out there. Most videos out there approach HRV from a fitness/performance perspective, but none have provided enough details/evidence (or the clinical chops) to fully trust. I'll be adding this HRV series to our postgrad curriculum resources here at U of Toronto. Thanks!

Is it possible to go towards flight or fight mode such as anxiety without an increase of heart rate? I think my anxiety may be missed due to low heart rate.

Thanks to all- I have gained a much better appreciation of what it's all about (although I am presently only concerned with fitness not illness)

Could you please comment on early signs of covid on daily HRV readings. I am under the understanding, that the parasympathetic will greatly increase days before you may notice your condition.

Great question. Considering how new and dynamic the virus is, I believe studies in this area are still quite preliminary. Here is one with results that state, "Higher HRV predicts greater chances of survival...Low HRV predicts ICU indication and admission in the first week after hospitalization." journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0258841

Thanks for the information, while it is difficult to get hard data form it; such as what is a good SDNN for a 70 years old for survival? Would a Polar 10 strap and Elite app be sufficient to get reliable data? And what are the early signs of covid that HRV can detect before someone feels the symptoms, would para or sympathetic values go up or down?
