Allows easy access to mechanical filters for cleaning and replacing 3. The water catchment area at the bottom along with bio media will allow for full nitrogen cycle to take place.
he is right if we put water from top then only mechanical filtration if from bottom to top bio filterstion also like canister filter. For bio filteration need water holding so anyway we can hold water minimum 1 inch above the bio media .

Very nice design, and this kinda filter works exceptionally better then any traditional filters, but if you attach a valve in the lead of the container it will fix the overflow. Because there will be overflow.

Every time the tape is started tangled I get aggravated lol so ocd and being a plumber doesn’t help either just became a habit making sure it is always flat and even 😂

Exactly...! He'll figure it out when he has to completely take it apart just to clean the pre filter media.... he could have so easily went top down. (none of the media is as good as 30PPI sponge)

L'acqua dovrebbe incontrare per primo i materiali a filtrazionne meccanica (tutti e non separati), poi eventuale filtrazione chimica (opzionale) ed infine la filtrazione biologica. Nel tuo progetto hai creato e messo lì a caso, mischiando, meccanica e biologica, a strati, come se fosse un sandwich. Poi, coosa fondamentale, essendoo la vasca del tuo filtro trasparente, non è assolutamente consona ad ospitare materiale filtrante biologico essendo i batteri fotosensibili, quindi lasciando per un attimo perdere le bioballs e quei sassolini, che sono materiali non porosi e poco adatti ad ospitare batteri eterotrofi, ma la luce ucciderebbe quest'ultimi. Scusa poi se sono così prolisso, ma come fai a fare manutenzione senza muovere il materiale biologico filtrante? Perchè lo sai che quello non va smosso. Quindi si, ottimo fai da te sicuramente, ma filtro davvero poco funzionale.
I can see one big drawback of this design. As soon as the pump stops working all the dirt collected at the bottom off filter is going to get sucked back in the tank
Good day to you sir. Which filter pad do you mean? The filter wools and the bio foams?. 1st I place the bio foam on to the bottom of the container on the water inlet. then next is the washable foam, then small pebbles and filter wools then another washable foam and then the filter medias.
you have done inmaculate work but the pump can not be inside the tank cause you will have that pump obstructed by the dirty material, pump should be inside the filter pumping the water free of dirty there is no sense to put the pump inside the dirty tank
