    My friend was almost a 411 case. During his college years he went out to do some grocery shopping and when he left the store he had a psychotic episode. He described that all he could think of was that he had to get away. He ended up on his own just running down the road until he literally made it across state lines(keep in mind he had a car, just didn't even think of it); whenever anyone stopped to ask if he was okay he would always assure them he was fine until he eventually ducked into the woods. It wasn't until he was reported missing that people gave up tips and eventually a group of around fifty or so hunters/outdoorsman found him. When they found him way out in the woods he did everything to reassure them he was fine and that they didn't need to help him. Got forcibly brought to a hospital and took a couple years to recover fully.
    No history of mental problems, no problems at home or in life. His mind just literally said "WE GOTTA GET OUT". Truthfully if it wasn't for the fact he had his psychotic break in town and people saw him he likely would have never would have been found.

      I went into psychosis and ended up in the middle of the nearby city. Walked around for 2 days. Finally a cop drove me home. And I went to the mental hospital the next day.

      @@SuperAwesome19 Everything you think are objective facts about your reality can completely shift in psychosis--and make complete sense to you. It's not always the sort of complete chaos that they show in movies; he likely was strategically going to any lengths to "get out" and knew people could potentially stop him from doing that. Best thing to do then is to play it cool and not let them suspect you.

      The missing 411 is an obsession I can't get rid of. I find it so interesting when people just disappear or weird things happen surround it, even the cases where people's minds just seem to flip and they take off. The most interesting fact over all of the missing 411 is when the FBI randomly showed up to help looks for a missing old man in Rhode island, mind you the FBI don't do nothing with a missing person unless they are very important or under a certain age. I so badly wanna go on and on about it

    Its crazy back in the day, they used to shut down whole factories, businesses and schools to look for a missing person, now a days, your lucky to even just see the persons face on the news at the end of the day.

      You'd see that in local news. Today they also shut down everything to start searching parties in rural areas. It just won't happen in a big city because there are enough people to search anyways.

      *white people, usually girls and young women. Thousands of BIPOC get dissapeared every year in US and no one cares except the family (and police really, really don't care), the same was true back then. I live in a small country (less than 3 million people) and we've had two major national searches since 2020. People don't get excused from work but the kids' faces get plastered everywhere, all the news sources get filled with updates and people are encouraged to report any and all sightings

      I’m thinking more along the lines of SA’d by the brother…they tend to forget or not remember one person in particular more so than others. Possibly because they were threatened if they said anything by that particular person(s)? The parents could’ve said she was in poor mental health to protect the family name, not have a stigma after the daughter told the mother, as mother’s can be ultra protective of their boys. The girls were aware enough to know the bloodhounds were coming so they stripped top layers of clothes but they can’t remember their family members? BS. These girls wanted to get away. Pretty sure the other one took her father’s gun for her protection as you don’t climb up trees to escape being found when you’re $uicidal. ….. I hate whoever the author is because it seems he wants to place aliens or whatever at the scene but that’s a massive disservice to these girls……

    Not surprised, if you've ever watched the lore lodge, they constantly avoid David's work on purpose because he's known to not go into research enough or dramatize information. You can get much more accurate information about 411 cases on their channel

    • @SueDohman
      @SueDohman 29 днів тому

      Dude! You couldn’t be any more mistaken. Lol.
      “Lore Lodge” is nothing more than a complete & absolute RIPOFF of David Paulides’ hard work & research.
      The guy besmirches Paulides bc he obviously takes issue with accrediting Paulides, for some weird reason?
      When the truth is that he owes 100% of any success that his channel has had specifically to David Paulides.
      David mostly only repeats what the official missing person reports were quoted as saying.
      And if he goes outside of that, it’s info he obtained directly from the relative(s) of one of the missing persons etc.
      You’ve got your facts so backwards. No offense. Just facts

    To be honest, it's not really surprising that people missing in the woods have ripped or missing clothes. Stumbling around through thick brush, thorns, falling down little hills, etc. Clothes are going to get torn. And people will take clothes off on their own reacting to multiple things, such as hypothermia. You aren't thinking clearly, your body and mind are stressed, etc.

    So as an actual criminologist with about to earn his PhD (no one has to believe me) but Paulides pulled at a thread about missing people not catalogued in missing persons in our national park system. The issue is that the national parks are ultimately part of multiple other jurisdictions that actually do track the missing people. Yes these cases are weird, but I once listened to an interview with a journalist (blanking on the name) who worked with a colleague of mind. His opinion because these cases are definitely real is that there is much more likely a group of people that live off the grid within the national park system that do bad things to people who they feel are threatening their existence. I won't name specifically but there is a domestic terrorist white supremacist cell known to law enforcement that is essentially a migrating city of people that I would not be surprised are tied to this group and may be responsible for some of these missing 411 if not the majority of them.
    Edit: I enjoyed your breakdown of how Paulides sometimes glamorizes or sensationalizes some of these. I would argue if you applied Occam's razor to most of these we'd find very sad but very real aspects of why these people went missing

    There are soo many valid explanations for these cases, apart from the odd one out here and there, which is why not one ranger or scientist actually takes Paulides serious. He fits all cases into his statistics, no matter how different they are, he gives selective information to fit his narrative, and he basically just makes up stuff.
    It's horrible that so many UA-camrs take this fraudster serious and spread his misinformation as if he was a serious researcher.

    The Missing 411 cases aren’t as mysterious as Paulides pretends…at least not all of them. He omits information and new discoveries that offer explanations of the disappearances. It’s pretty disingenuous and he receives a lot of criticism for it.

  • @deerichardz
    @deerichardz 11 місяців тому +1

    If a person was to do the 'proper' research, they'd find that ole Paulides just embellishes the majority of the missing person cases he presents and labels as '411'. The whole thing is just his grift. Bottom line. This is his income, he garners interest so he can sell books and vids. It would be nice if people weren't so gullible.

    I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding Mr. Paulides and his content, and I'm by no means saying that I know him any better than anyone else, but my high school art teacher (Joey), who was probably the most loving parental figure in my life, really looked up to him long before 4-11 became a UA-cam thing. I believe I met him once, briefly, at a book signing that Joey took me to (which hardly counts as meeting someone), but I could just be getting that mixed up with the time she took me to get a book signed by Cesar Milan. I found out a few years ago when I decided to reach out and touch base with her again that she had passed away, but even if I don't watch the episodes, every time Mr. Paulides uploads, I feel a little warmth in remembering the most influential, kind person in my life.
    I guess what I'm trying to say is controversy or not, 4-11 has a special place in my heart and I'd absolutely love to see you cover some of the cases. I like watching these cases being converted, and pretending that I'm watching with Joey while we comment on not only the case, itself, but the work of art that the video is that we're watching, and discussing the techniques and effort that went into each scene. Every time I see someone produce a video with cheap effects but otherwise great content, I think of how Joey would point out that the content is what makes it a worthwhile piece of art.
